The book was totally spoilt by the hero. I couldn't stand him. The way he came onto the heroine was all sorts of gross, his choice of words, imo, we not nice at all. If a guy was talking to me like that, i would've kneed him in the balls. And i really don't care if it was all bravado because the rich boy was hurting, because the heroine fell for this version of him too, this obnoxious, man-whore character who dated her sister (ew, ew, ew).
My eyes got tired from their rolling when the first thing i'm reading about is overdone H/h dynamic, the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth from the start and i wasn't given enough mouthwash to get rid of it. Alas, DNF....more

'The Run' – owned and run by the hero - is like a 'tag the naked slave' version of 'The Hunger Games'.
Clichéd erotic lead characters; The asshole domineering hero, who has no respect for women. The feisty virgin heroine, who is totally oblivious to male attention.
So there's this dystopian future where women are scum because there's so few of them. Huh? I know. A breast cancer treatment backfired, now there's a 3 to 1 ratio of men to women. The rich/poor divide is massive now. So that means women are in high commodity, yet they are treated badly. Families sell their daughters, men buy women to use as slaves/wives/sex toys, or women go to whore houses to give money to their families.
Now I know it's fiction, but it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Women being treated badly and men not giving a shit about them isn't something I want to hear about.
There were certain points in the story where it broke me down.
First, introducing the male character with a scene where he's using a woman as a slut and sending her on her not-so-merry way (I’ve read 3 books with the same cliché this fortnight).
Second there was the beginning of 'The Run', where the 'hunters' were allowed to inspect the 'prey' by feeling them up/talking to them however they wanted while men held them still.
BLEUGH.
Third was this conversation between the hero; Dare, and his associate West;
West; “There've been whispers that a lot of the girls he tags don't always make it out of his house in one piece or alive. I don't know how true that is but one of my acquaintances attended a party at his house and he has a harem. I was told his women weren't in good shape. A lot of them are sporting bruises and others more severe injuries.”
Dare; “All second hand stories. Besides, he's not the first person to have a collection. What goes on in his home is none of my business and it should be yours either. These women that you're suddenly championing know what they're getting into. They're compensated handsomely for doing this. What happens once the game is over is none of my concern.”
OH BLEUGH!
Forth and final... Despite how much i liked her and how strong and intelligent the heroine was, how much she LOATHES the hero for speaking to her like shit, imprisoning her uncle, being a bastard to her.... This happens: 'One second she was fighting him off the next she'd practically melted in his arms. Her knees went weak, her pulse raced and her nipples grew painful- ' BLEUGH BLEUGH

Thought Jared was bad in the first book? Well i hated him in this. I love Tate, super bold and feisty. It's what pulled 'Bully' through for me. In her underwear wielding a gun? Super cool. Her speech in class 'You're a fucking drought.' Kick ass. But Jared? Urgh. Constantly saying things and acting in ways that contantly contradict with his inner monologue. Making out with Tate's bestie infront of her. Sneering, name calling, aggrivating. It wasn't so bad in 'Bully' because we don't get to hear him contradict everything. I think I felt the same as most of the other readers; we wanted a dual POV. It starts with Trent's POV, and I kept on waiting for him to talk again :(
The setting was great, kind of 'Scrubs' style, the main characters are hospital workers. I liked Ellen's and Trent's characters. What really let it down for me was the humor. It was jam-packed of things that were supposed to be funny, but didn't really reach the spot. Some bits did really make me LOL, but those were few and far between. So while all these 'funny' things were going on, ALL THE TIME, I was just thinking 'yeah, ok, it's not really amusing, get to the story, I want to see Trent more, or actually find this funny.' The humor is crude and silly. Which I usually like, but it's far too silly. It went OTT to the point of not being funny and just being annoying. It made the book very difficult to finish. I might try the next book, depending on the reviews.

Layout of the relationship.. Well, after a one night stand that Kat wants to forget, she keeps on running into Lane Wild, (he likes to be called Wild, she prefers to call him Lane; i get that... 'Wild!' is a pretty odd word to be calling in the throes)... then they have a lot of sex, lots of spats inbetween the sex, either about them 'not doing relationships', or her denying she wants him, or him getting sucked off by someone else, or her flirting with a 50 year old balding bloke... Then their pasts turn up at 70%, there's some drama and they realise they love each other. Then it ends.
So you can see why i didn't like it.
In general, the characters were not very interesting, no original personality. There wasn't anything great in the actual drama, wasn't very emotional, no good side characters, no fun, not really romantic.
Personally... The sex scenes did nothing for me, i've read far better. There wasn't any good descriptions, or word play, it wasn't delicious.
There was a bit of girl on girl, and when Lane was caught with another girl, the LC's both admitted that they liked the thought of a threesome (not out loud), which made me believe something was going to happen with that, thankfully didn't, but why go there otherwise?

That tag-line and cover is enough to draw the majority of contemporary romance lovers in.
Many readers are going to love this, but there's going to be a few that really don't. It's going to be very much a love/hate book for readers. I was one of those few.
I really can't say much about the plot without giving too much away. It's a good plot, lot's of drama and action. Mixture of mafia and bikers with their crazy messed-up rules and codes.
Going through the ratings above... Writing was good, but there's only around 10-15% dialogue, personally, I like lots.
Heroine was the weak and vulnerable kind, though she could be cocky when she wanted.
The Hero was probably the thing I disliked most in this book, he's pretty much an asshole throughout (but then most MC lead males are), I liked him for almost 5 pages. His presence is in around 25% of the book, he spews horrible words at Heroine and uses other women throughout the book.
Sex & hotness.. (view spoiler)[Two sex scenes with the leads, first one he's really horrible to her while having sex. Second one he has sex with her when he's still got some other women's lipstick still on his dick. (hide spoiler)]There's not a lot of lusting.
Really didn't feel any romance, didn't really understand why the Leads liked each other, perhaps it was because in 90% of their interactions they weren't very nice to each other.
End was abrupt and felt very unfinished.

HUMOUR: I missed the silly-ish chick lit humour that Belle's other books contain.
LEXI: She wasn't unique, she reminded me a lot of the lead females in Friend-Zoned (#1) and Willing Captive, kind of weak when it comes to the lead males, big hearted and wears it on her sleeve, girly-girl next door type, likes to call people 'babe' or 'sweetie'.
TWITCH: Don't get me wrong, I like an anti-hero (Shay Savage's 'Sebastian Stark' is my fave), but this guy was kind of sadistic, which I don't like, it's the whole reason I avoid the heavy BDSM books. Which leads me on to the...
SEX: The first sex scene, at least, I found icky and uncomfortable, if I was Lexi I would have told Twitch to stick it somewhere else. But the other sex scenes didn't really do it for me either, there was quite a few and though I love a bit of rough or kink, I just didn't find these scenes erotic, sexual or sexy, they lacked something for me.
HATRED: Twitch has a secret hatred and the reason seemed pretty silly to me, blaming all that on an innocent.
ROMANCE: Didn't feel it from Twitch, felt fake.
DIALOGUE: This is the bit I really did like, banter was good, so were some of the lines that Twitch had. I also liked the uniqueness that was Twitch himself.
ENDING: Frigging hated it! I avoid books with this kind of ending, but I couldn't resist reading this because of the hype.
All in all, fell a little flat for me. And what it is, is a sexy-drama-romance. Wouldn't call it dark, though Twitch is a dark character. I'll keep an eye out for Belle's other books, I’ve enjoyed 3 out of 4 of them. Not everyone likes the same thing. Please don't let this dissuade you from reading, it's not written badly, it's not a terrible storyline, the characters are not obnoxious, it just wasn't for me....more

At the beginning, i really liked the lead characters traits and they had both been sexually abused in their teens, which is different. Lilac doesn't really talk, is shy, a bookworm, dresses like a librarian but is incredibly pretty and sexy. Nick is a cocky Greek billionaire on campus who is fucking everything on sight to get over his ex.
Then it starts to get odd. Now I know Ms Tee is unconventional in her stories, there's never real happy happy moments or sweet romance, there's no down-right depressing moments either, there's usually some cheating, and the lead male wrongs the lead female in a bad way, there's crude descriptions and crazy ways of thinking, but that keeps it interesting and different. But this one, oh this one takes the biscuit. It all started about the 8% mark for me... When Lilac begins to have these these weird regency novel daydreams. Then their first meeting feels like it takes up 10 pages of them just looking at each other because, oddly enough, they can both communicate whole sentences with one look.
I'd really advise most of my GoodReads friends not to read this, not when Nick is still in love with his ex up until the very end, not when Nick is an ass throughout the whole book, not when Nick slams Lilac (and not in the good way, in the most unforgivable way) and breaks her heart at the very end, and not when Lilac allows him to watch another woman getting off over him. ....more

Three years go by with them seeing little of each other for business purposes, until Callum needs a favour from his wife, and she needs one too. In return of Stella pretending to be his fiancé for a week, Callum will rid Stella of her virginity, which she promised her deceased mother she would give to her husband. Cue the jealousy.
Things I didn't like:
Typo's
The 'poshness' in the dialogue
Taking her virginity scenes were skipped! (WTF, they chucked other sex scenes in there, that weren't that great)
Callum got enraged every time Stella was with a man-friend, whether it was a point in the book where they were in a sexual relationship or not
Stella catches him with another woman (when they weren't together), and his reason for shagging her?... Well it was a test, he had to find out if he was addicted to Stella's virgin-like pussy, but the other one felt used.....
The fact that Callum doesn't know whether or not he still loves his ex-fiancé or not and that she takes up far too much time in the book, causing loads of drama and jealousy
You'll love this book if you like posh dialogue and loads of drama that is induced by jealousy. ...more

ERRRRRR WHAT? It sounded like an Erotica to me... So don't be too disappointed when you find out there's no explicit sex.
I truly am confused right now. Currently there are a few reviews for this book; mostly in the lower stars. Most of them point out the fact the characters changed dramatically from one page to the next. I kind of felt that way, but I was mostly left confused by the contradictions of the lead male.
Ok, so, Blurb: They meet up, in a hotel room, every Wednesday. But... they don't have sex, but they do get naked??? That left me confused, he undresses her, she says something about seeing his erection before, but when she asks him to make her feel good, he won't.... Okaaay. So, they have rules, they don't touch each others bits... But they can get naked. And they can't talk about anything personal. So what have they been doing once a week for four months? Just making out!? The book is basically based around the mystery of Sebastian and Crystals depression, they feel drawn to each other, they feel a connection, because they are both are broken beyond repair, lonely and believe they heal each other. Then.... cue the action, guns, captivity and betrayal.
I was so confused by some of the things Sebastian said. He goes from saying one thing, then contradicting himself in another way. He says she can't prove something to him, then in the next sentence he asks her to prove it. Lots of his speeches never made any sense to me. “But I want you to bad to keep from having you.” Eh? What does that mean? “It isn't an issue of trust, angel. People don't leave you because they don't trust you, or because you don't trust them to stay. People leave because they don't know better, because they don't even realise they're leaving you until it's too late. And I'm not taking that risk with you.” Ummm what does that mean? I don't even get how it related to the scene.
So a few of the reviews had a problem with Crystal's decisions towards the end. It was out of the blue and almost inexplicable. But it's the last 20% that I enjoyed, even with Crystals out of character decision, it was more dramatic, dark and twisted. ...more

BLURB: Teagan; an almost-graduate, has to move out of her apartment and get a job due to lack of funding from her now deceased father who was a successful company executive.
'My bank account has exactly three hundred and eight dollars in it, my father's lawyer says I won't get another penny from the estate until I’m thirty, and everything my father ever held dear is now in the hands of a bimbo...'
Now his estate belongs to her evil stepmother and she has no family to turn to because of her father.
Mom died when I was just a baby, and my dad is... or was... about as cold as they can get.''
She moves into a squalor of an apartment and forces her way into a job at Rebel's mechanics. Rebel is a mid-twenties, strong and silent type. He's got two brothers, Mick aka Hellion and Colin aka Trouble. With tattoos upon muscles and next to no vocab, Rebel drives Teagan crazier than normal with his indifference and hotness.
'Before I came here, I was normal. I was cool. I was never jealous of other women. I said the right thing at the right time and I never sat down on air. This shit has to stop before I accidentally kill myself.'
'Rebel' was really slow starting for me. The romance and plot didn't really kick off until the 40% mark, then when it did, it felt like it was a little slow starting, rushed in the middle and then unfinished at the end.
The mystery aspect just kicked off at 1/3rd of the way through and carries on for the next book, which I don't understand because as it's going to be Mick's (aka Hellion's) book. Does that mean it's going to be a mixture about Teagan's mystery with Mick as the lead male?
Rebel was dull for the first 35%; no expressions and not much dialogue, even though it was his character's persona, it made him a little dull and got me a little bored with him. He was lovely when he finally gave us more.
I loved Teagan, she was funny, bold, silly, quick-witted and crazy. She gave lots me lots of 'Ha!' moments and one or two LOL's. Rebel proved himself to be very sweet and strong. I loved all the side characters; her best friend Quin, two associates and Rebel's brothers, especially Colin.
“You have Grade-A man meat waiting for you in the other room. Prime beef, baby. Time to chow down. Rawr, rawr.” ~ Quin
“One more chance before I send you to the hospital for a nice coma-cation” says Colin. “Coma-cation?” I ask. He grins at me in a sickly devious way. “Vacation, coma-style.”
Overall, the plot and romance was slow beginning and we didn't get enough of it, parts remain unfinished for the next book who's main feature is supposed to be Hellion. I will read the next one, but I wouldn't read this again. But it had it's witty and fun moments, had great characters and there was some great funny and action scenes in the book that resonate.

GoodReads book 'overall' rating can be totally deceiving. Firstly, if you haven't read it yet, make sure you read the bad reviews (sod it, even read the ones with spoilers, you really need to know what you're getting into) and the good reviews, if I saw the bad ones before I started this book then I would have never picked it up. GR users either hate or love this book, there is no in between, I was one of the ones that hated it, as you can see.
What I liked? The pace of the story was good, there was loads of dialogue, the scenes were varied and interesting, the rest of the band, found them much more endearing and likeable. I will have a go at book three, book two with the same H/h? No.
{VERY MILD SPOILERS COMING}
Shall I count the ways I hate it?
Of course, his past means he's become a man-whore, what guys don't? If you don't respect women, then you're hot(!) And making me jealous by shagging everything in sight, and purposely making out with every girl you lay you're eyes on in front of me. Oh and flying your 'girlfriend' in to your bed whenever you feel like an extra bang, will only make me want you more(!)
Furthermore, I never understood why Eliza was attracted to him throughout high school, when he acts like he does, it only makes him repulsive on the inside, but of course, that doesn't matter, cos he is HOT. If you're an author who's writing about a rock star, I think you really need to careful you don't write your supposed Hero as a total dick. He somewhat redeemed himself, but not enough for me.
Her father acted more of a gay best friend, never seemed protective over her.
Every guy smirks, cause Gage more than the rest, and all different types of smirks too. How many smirks? Wanna know? Oh, only 87.
All the guys who encountered her seemed to talk to her like they are all varying degrees of the same creep.
Some of the dialogue felt... off. Actually, so did some of the inner monologue:
'He was about to turn around, but surprisingly, I called his name and he stopped.' People do that????
'For the most part, we were quiet. It wasn't awkward to stare because he had more than enough to stare at and keep me quiet.' EH?
'There was some blood on the white sheets and I gasped, thinking maybe there really was a cherry down there.' Jeez.
'He was about to deflower me and make me into a real woman.'Of course, you were a fake one before.
About her abusive mother; 'It sucked knowing what she’d done to me, but oh well. I couldn’t do much about it.' Yep, I feel the same way about this book....more

Tate and Jared are neighbours, as tweens, they were inseparable, sleepovers, picnics, climbing trees, they were best friends.
One summer, Jared turned on Tate, he began to bully her. Spreading vicious rumours, humiliating her, playing pranks, the more time passed, the worst the bullying got, the more she cried. Tate has had enough, why should she put up with it anymore?
After blowing her top, she leaves for a year to travel. Left it all behind her. Perhaps Jared would leave her alone no she has returned, perhaps he's forgotten about her...
No, he hasn't, and it's getting worse. Tate isn't putting up with it any longer. She's going to fight him, no-holds barred.
Jared is a complicated character, throughout the book, he is arrogant, he's a playboy, sure we've heard all this before, but to bully Tate the way he has? It's pretty evil. Tate is getting steamy feelings for him, she's totally confused, she doesn't understand why he's bullied her all these years, she once loved him, he was kind and attentive to her. Now it's as if she is nothing to him.
Tate is a cool character, he's nutty, bit of a rock chick, loves cars and has turned herself around, no longer letting the bullying make her cry. She's also given access to a gun by her dad while he's away for work, she's not afraid to use it either.
The book reminds me a little of the film 10 Things I Hate About You; it's set in high school, she hates him, she's a cool chick and he's a bad boy.

There's also plenty going on, thunderstorms, snogging, punching, drag racing and parties.
“What was worse than losing you was when you started to hurt me. Your words and actions made me hate coming to school. They made me uncomfortable in my own home.”.... My eyes were still on Jared, and my voice got strong again. The ache in my face from trying to hold back the tears eased. “You were my tempest, my thunder cloud, my tree in the downpour.
