on size 7mm needles = 10 cm
The neck ribbing

Start by casting on 48 stitches using

your preferred cast on method, onto
the 5.5mm needles.

Place one SM to mark the beginning

of the row. Now continue knitting 2x2
ribbing. Once the neck piece 10 cm
measures 10cm, you are done with
the neck piece.

The body of the balaclava

After finishing your neck ribbing,

you're going to change to the 7mm
needles, while simultaneously doing
increases.

To chance the needles while knitting,

simply knit the stitches from the 5.5
needle onto the 7mm needle, like you Increases

would when knitting normally.

While doing this, make increases

after every 4 stitch. This means: Knit 4
stitches, M1L, knit 4 stitches, M1L.
Continue doing this until you've
reached the end of the round. You
should M1L at the end stitch. You
should now have 60 stitches on your
needles.
Important note !!

Make sure the stitches on the

outside of the balaclava are
Continuing the body of knit stitches, and the stitched
the balaclava on the inside are purl stitches.

After the increase round, continue If you are unsure about how to
knitting as normal for the next 3 do this, watch a video on
rounds. When you reach round 4, cast youtube on how to do
off 7 stitches for the face opening. stockinette stitches.

Continue knitting stockinette stitches

for the whole body of the balaclava,
until the whole piece measures 35cm
from the bottom to the top.
Decreases
Now we are going to make
decreases. Count your stitches and
divide them in two. You should have
54 stitches. Pace 1 SM before the 25th 35 cm
stitch, and place another SM after the
27th stitch. You should have 3 stitches
between the two stitch markers. The
stitches in between the SMs should be
stitch nr. 25, 26 and 27.

Every round you knit from now,

K3tog (decrease, meaning knit the 3
stitches together) when you reach the
SMs. After every decrease round, Sew together

move the SMs so that there is always

3 stitches between them. Continue
this for the next 10 rounds.

After this, sew the top of the

balaclava together with a tapestry
needle.
Making the face framing

Start by picking up all the stitches

around the face, using the 5.5mm
circular needle. Make sure you have
an even number of stitches before
you start ribbing.
Pick up stitches

After picking up all your stitches, knit

1x1 ribbing. Continue knitting the
ribbing for eight rounds, or until you
have a length you are happy with.

Now, cast off all your stitches using

1x1 ribbing cast off. Sew in all your
loose ends with a tapestry needle,
and you're done!!
