#hat_volla by @floralwool
This is one of the easiest beanies you can knit but still it looks stylish! The best part - it’s
really versatile, you can shape the crown as you like.
Please, pay attention, this is not a detailed pattern, it`s an algorithm/recipe, so you
can knit your hat using any yarn you like with your own gauge.

You will need:
Yarn: Both of my hats are knitted with Regia premium Alpaca sock wool (approx 330m in
100gr).
1 skein is enough for a hat. Beige hat is smaller, knitted for 51-52cm head, 65gr used, grey
hat is bigger, for 56-57cm head, 82gr used.
Needles: 3mm 50cm (or any other length and construction, you like)
Gauge (approx): in a flat, not stretched position, rib *k1, p1* - 40sts and 34rounds
10x10cm.
Abbreviations:
CDD – central double decrease
st(s) – stitch(es)
RS – right side
WS – wrong side
General notes:
These hats are knitted in the same way, the beige one is worn with RS outside, and grey
one – with WS outside, so to say: you can choose the side you want to wear the beanie.
Mind that if you want to wear your hat with WS out (like the grey one), you should not
make the fixed brim!
How to knit the beanie:
Cast on any number of sts multiple of 4 (120 and 132 sts – my hats). Join to work in the
circle, be careful not to twist. Place a marker to
mark the beginning of the round. Work *k1, p1*.
The hat is knitted in rib. Work approx. 12-14cm
(about 25-28 rounds) for the brim.
If you are planning to wear your hat like the
beige one, you can make your brim fixed.

Continue knitting 15-18cm more (depending on
the size of your head), and start shaping the
crown
Shaping the crown:
1. Divide all sts into 4 parts. (25sts and 33sts in
one part for my hats).
2. Place a marker on a central (middle) st in
every part. These sts will take part in forming
CDDs.

Round with decreases:
- *work sts as the appear to 1st before the marked one, CDD* - repeat 4 times, 8sts
decreased.
How to make CDD the video is available HERE
Rounds without decreases: knit sts as they appear.
To shape the crown like in the beige hat:
1.Make decreases in every 2nd round till you have approx. half of all sts left.
2.Make decreases in every round till approx 10-12sts left in total.
To shape the crown like ion the grey hat:
1.Make decreases in every 3d round 3
times.
2.Make decreases in every 2nd round till
approx.12sts left in every part (or approx.
48sts in total).
3.Make decreases in every round till 10-
12sts left in total.
Break off your yarn to leave a 15cm tail and
thread through your remaining sts with a
blunt yarn needle. Pull the yarn tail to draw
your stitches together. Your beanie is
ready !
Wash and block it carefully according to
recommendations for your yarn.
