Headmasters Corner
A huge thank you to everyone who turned up last Friday to make the Grand Opening of the Astro-Turf and Adventure
Playground such a wonderful event. We were thrilled to have Mrs Banks to cut the ribbon at the gates to the new surface
and to declare it formally open. Clearly, the children are thrilled with the new playground and can be seen at every
opportunity making the most of this fabulous facility. Once again, my sincere thanks to Andrew Williamson for his vision
and to the Friends as a whole for their hard work and financial support.
Last weekend saw the new style Saturday school work brilliantly. The weather was super, we had some great matches,
good results and I think you will all agree a good morning was had by all.
I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at the Friends Quiz and Curry Night. May the best team win!
Year 7 French Trip
Mme Veron is currently organising the Year 7 trip to Normandy
next summer. Letters with full information will be sent home
shortly.
Mythical Maze Reading Challenge
Many children took part in the Mythical Maze Reading Challenge
run by the public libraries this summer, which was very exciting.
Please could you bring in certificates and medals which have been
awarded for this wonderful achievement and I will see that the
children are presented their awards in assembly, receive their
stars for taking part, update their Reading Passports and get a
lovely round of stirring applause. Many thanks for supporting your
children's reading.
House Rugby & House Hockey
Please note that next Saturday 4th October children will be
required in school by 9.00 am as they need to be changed ready
to start matches by 9.15. Parents are encouraged to stay and
support their children. Match teas will be provided

Well done to Year 2 for some fabulous homework this week.

Swimming Success for Rachel
Rachel Shutt had a good weekend of swimming at a
Bristol North swimming event and then onto the
Regional Relay finals on Sunday at Millfield.
Having swum up an age group in the U11 200m Medley
relay, the team missed out narrowly on gold by "a tenth
of a second" but gained a well deserved silver with a
Personal Best for the 50m freestyle of 34 seconds. In
the U10 freestyle relays it was a tough contest, with
Rachel swimming the final leg and having to dig deep to
secure the teams gold medal.
Rachel swam in the individual 50m freestyle final and
after a close finish between 2nd, 3rd and 4th place,
grabbed the silver.
On Sunday the team travelled to Millfield and missed
out on Gold and Regional Championship Team status
by point four of a second to take the silver.
