two dragons

 HELLO!

If You come by my blog from time to time, then surreal graphics based on a photos of trees are nothing new to You. I sometimes like to take photos of the trees. I find them oddly inspiring.

In today's post I'd like to show You another work created thanks to a photo of trees.

In February 2023 I took this photo in the nearby forest.

So, I cropped a fragment from an above photo, and dived into experimenting.

the Poetic Graphics: The wild notes

 HELLO!

Today I would like to show another piece of series the Poetic Graphics

This time I've translated a poem created in the end of July 2022. Notatki nieokiełznane - that's the original title of poem, concerns reflection on the old notes, full of knowledge, and various doodles.

Below you can see translated poem in the form of a colourful graphic.

the Poetic Graphics: blockage

 HELLO!

In the end of July 2021 I wrote a poem which developed from my casual reflections about kanashibari (jap. 金縛り, this is the japanese term for sleep paralysis), and all those stressful situations in which we are unable to say anything.

The original poem you can read HERE.

Below there is blockage as a part of the Poetic Graphics.

a Dragon - part 1

 HELLO!

One day I thought that it would be splendid to draw a dragon which doesn't look sillily. This desire was inspired by manga One Piece, and a sculpture of chinese dragon I saw in one of the polish museums.

So, my aim became a dragon.

This picture shows a Far Eastern Asian Dragon flying above the waterfall.
In this waterfall there are carps koi. This sketch was inspired by the legend about
the Golden Dragon.

impressive sunset

 HELLO!

Few days ago I was baking a mazurek (traditional cake for Easter), and I simply looked through the window. Once again I was strongly impressed by colours of the sunset. This time it was splendid combination of violet and yellow hidden behind the trees on the horizon.

Those colours and trees inspired me to transfer my impressions on a cardboard with oil pastels.

Here's result of my work.

Escapism of a lady with a kiseru

 HELLO!

Do you remember a lady in the cloud of smoke

Once again, I draw a lady wearing kimono who is holding a kiseru.

However she is different.

Besides obvious differences you could also notice usage of a frottage.

At a crossroads where everything is possible

 HELLO!

It's nice to take an autumnal walk from time to time. There's a possibility to notice beauty in the unexpected places. It's great to have a camera in a bag just in case.

I've took this photo in September 2021.

the Poetic Graphics: Dream Reality

 Hello!

In today's post I'd like to show another part of the cycle "the Poetic Graphics". This time I worked at translating my poem concerning dreams and their tendency to set into peculiar structures.

THERE you'll be able to read its original version.

the Poetic Graphics: Once upon a time there was an idea

 Hello!

In today's post comes another part of cycle the Poetic Graphics. Below you will find an english version of poem concerning an idea which... Disappeared very quickly...

Annoyingly enough. 😒

THERE you will find original poem.

As for a background I wanted to use a blue colour and create an effect of gradual fading.

attempt to embrace

 Hello!

Yesterday I was searching for an inspiration for backgrounds for the future "the Poetic Graphics". Among all of those old photographies I've found the one from over four years which you could contemplate below.

I've made this photo in November 2016 during a walk.

Those trees and their branches looked marvellous. Thanks to them a photography resembles a painting with craquelures.

It looks so fascinating that I started experimenting with photo in graphic software. To be honest I was a bit surprised by the final effect.

Summary of 2020

 HELLO!

It's time for the second summary on this blog. During writing the first one I thought I should take a fresh look on certain matters and remind myself of them. It emerged that it was necessary to understand this year was full of experimenting and searching.

So, let's start!

  • This year I published 23 posts and - so far - it's a record! Yay!
  • In the end of October I published the 100th post! This little jubilee is also noteworthy.
  • I changed a few things in order to improve blog's functioning. For example I shifted a bit blog's visual design. Plus, I've made a division on the right sidebar - I've separated Finished Aims from My Cycles... And I think it was a good move.

the Poetic Graphics: the Broken Reverie

 Hello!

In today's entry you'll find another part of a cycle the Poetic Graphics. This poem (which original version is available THERE) was an impression of a certain event I've witnessed on a graveyard last year. I called this to mind only thanks to my notes.

Relax with a Violet Crayon

 Hello!

In today's post you'll see a spontaneous drawing. From time to time I like to make some doodles because it's relaxing. To be honest I do not know if I've got a notebook which wasn't ornamented with drawings of various ladies, animals (mainly cats), flowers, ornaments, etc. Some of them happened to inspire me to create something bigger (as examples I can point at a pastel the Expectation of Shooting stars or drawing Wisp of Galadriel's hair). Yup, before them were little sketches made on margins or notebooks' covers

And yesterday I was trying to relax after baking gingerbread cookies. And during my efforts I took a paper, violet crayon and started drawing this lady.

reaching for..., crayons (violet & pink) on paper, 14,8 x 21 cm, 21 XII 2020.

I haven't got any special plans for this drawing... I felt pretty concerned during drawing. At some point I've decided to add a pink colour.

As a title I chose reaching for... because the Violet Lady is reaching for something... What is it exactly? A dream? A guitar? A pencil? A pen? An amazing book? Another human's hand? A cookie cutter? Well, I don't know - let this be a kind of a wiggle room.

For now, let me
wish You All, my dear Readers
lots of Health, Love, Strength,
and Peaceful and Joyful Christmastime
against all odds!

 Have a Nice Day! 🎄

a View on Melancholy

 Hello!

I was always interested in theories concerning temperaments... I haven't probably mentioned it but this interest influenced my way of portraying personifications of the Four Seasons. I couldn't help but assign each of them to respective humours like sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic and melancholic. Today I would like to focus on the last one of them because showing a view on Melancholy belonged to one of my aims.

So let's start with the earliest sketches with the ideas for Melancholy's portrayal.

I chose to show the allegory of Melancholy as a tired, worried and thoughtful woman. Next I draw her on paper. Firstly I wanted to use a black pen for outlines but I've changed my mind.

the Poetic Graphics: the Apathy

 Hello!

Today's post will involve another part of a cycle the Poetic Graphics with a poem from two years ago. Its main theme concerned an apathy and lack of motivation (original version is available THERE).

the Poetic Graphics: the wind hidden in the breath

 Hello!

Today I want to show you another graphic from the cycle "the Poetic Graphics". A graphic with a poem I've written between the March and the April (original version is THERE). It happened because of my quite casual thoughts about the wind and breath.

Introduction to the Poetic Graphics

 Hello!

In the beginning of this year I created an account on Pinterest (it took some time to encourage myself to do this). There I left some of my works plus something I haven't published on my a-r-tistic blog yet. And I mean a short cycle consisted of five graphics (so far) with english versions of my poems.

Today I'm gonna show you one of them.

4 in 4: Nothing special

Hello!

It took me so long to create the next comic strip of "the Four Seasons in Four Frames". At last I can present you (ekhem, quite late) the third one called: "Nothing special" concerning the personification of Spring.

I decided that the main theme of this comic should be boredom. Firstly I intended to show some polish custom characteristic for Spring... And I came up with different idea because of a sudden lockdown (which was kind of a... strange, apathetic time).

Each of the frames has got a strip in the right upper corner with the name of a month (march, april, may, june).

Below the comic strip you will find a translation of a bubble.

In "the March Frame" Spring looks a bit asleep and she's still covering herself in her yellow cloth (it's a reference to my previous work "A Spring" which you could see THERE).

In "the April Frame" I drew cherry blossom in the background (yeah, my soul is weak when it comes to Japanese culture and hanami).
