the Poetic Graphics: with the willowy hair

 HELLO!

This year I created a poem inspired by a view I saw during the stroll in one of the parks in Cracow. I saw a quite lovely pond with a small island. There was a really big willow on this island.

The original title of mentioned poem is wśród wierzbowych włosówHERE You can read this if You want to. I translated this poem in order to make it a part of the Poetic Graphics series, and show it on a specially designed background.

Below there is an effect of my work.

a flame of curiosity

 HELLO!

Some time ago I took a brown crayon and sketched a rear-facing lady in a long dress.

I took a liking to it so much that the next step were pastels.

Mentioned sketch made with brown crayon.

I thought that pastels could nicely help in achieving a fantastic picture. A picture which may be a dream, or a fantasy universe.

Below there are photos showing further phases of a creative process.

a ghostly presence's stroll

 HELLO!

Do You happen to remember my post about a drawing dreaming in the meadow? I asked because once again a photo from a thin tiny book with variety of aphorisms (e.g. "Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand." by Thomas Carlyle) inspired me to create a work. To be precise - a pastel.

In the upper left corner there is a mentioned photo from this little book.

Lone tree among the lavender field - this scenery stimulates imagination.

dreaming in the meadow

 HELLO!

Lately I was working on a drawing showing two sitting ladies leaning against their backs. I felt an urge to draw them because of a certain photo which I found in thin book with aphorisms (there are quotes like "Natural abilities are like natural plants that need pruning by study." by sir Francis Bacon).

In the upper part of this photo you can notice a photo in the mentioned book. When I looked at this photo I thought it would be fun to create a picture with two figures sitting like that. But show them in a different way, in a dreamy setting.

unforgettable summer day

HELLO!

Today I would like to share a new work with You. The idea of woman wearing yukata and holding a fan appeared in my mind. Honestly, it is quite possible that hot summer days have something to do with her holding this fan.

Uchiwa was a model of a fan for this drawing. Uchiwa is a handheld, traditional type of Japanese fan which has a form resembling a paddle. This coolish accessory is usually decorated with various patterns. So I designed a pattern with a ginger cat in the fan's centre, surrounded by forget-me-nots on the blue background.

Curia Julia in the Roman Forum

 HELLO!

Lately I wanted to practise drawing an architecture. This exercise would be helpful when I'll be doing a Cityscape (one of my 3 aims). So I was searching through various photographies on postcards, or in the books. And I found an inspiring one. It was a photo showing Curia Julia (Latin: Curia Iulia) in the Roman Forum which comes from the book about past and present Rome (the polish edition of R. A. Staccioli's book).

sentimental journey

 HELLO!

From time to time I like to cut intriguing words and sentences from old newspapers. The same goes for interesting pictures. There's lot of potential in them. For example you can create a collage.

And today I'm coming to you with a collage with a travelling theme.

the Symphony of Terror

 HELLO!

A year ago I wrote a poem inspired by Yuki Kajiura's composition the Main theme of Petit Cossette. This beautiful & moody piece of music made me think about the dark sky and blusterous storm.

The poem I wrote is named symfonia grozy and you will be able to read it HERE.

Today I'd like to show you a pastel created on the basis of a poem, and also a translation of mentioned poem - the symphony of terror.

ENJOY!

impressive sunset

 HELLO!

Few days ago I was baking a mazurek (traditional cake for Easter), and I simply looked through the window. Once again I was strongly impressed by colours of the sunset. This time it was splendid combination of violet and yellow hidden behind the trees on the horizon.

Those colours and trees inspired me to transfer my impressions on a cardboard with oil pastels.

Here's result of my work.

My Dear Followers,

here comes the Easter,

and I wish You All the Best!

4 in 4: Snow White

 HELLO!

Let me announce you a new comic strip from the cycle "the Four Seasons in Four Frames". This time Winter is the main character.

PLOT

In this story our heroine was strolling during the sunset. Then she noticed a black-haired lady which was leaning against a stone wall. This unexpected meeting reminded her of somebody...

This is the first time when a flashback appeared in "4 in 4" cycle. I thought that the best way to show transition between the present and the past is to make a use of snowflakes.

Below the comic strip you'll find - as always - translation of bubbles.

4 in 4: Once upon a time on the beach

 Hello!

Here comes new comic strip of cycle "the Four Seasons in Four Frames"! I'm publishing this a bit late because of many variants concerning one idea.

I've imagined this kind of situation: a child is playing on the beach, wind "takes" something from him and a Summer returns this thing to this particular child.

Finally - through asking yourself about various details, I developed a story with addition of a straw hat (definitely too much "One Piece"), a stone and a cat built from a sand (well, it doesn't need to be a sandcastle, does it?).

And Once upon a time on the beach is special in some way... It's the first time when comic strip from series "4 in 4" doesn't contain bubbles!

Frankly, I wanted to make this one without a speech balloon from the very first!

an Arctic Fox found something new

 Hello!

After my long absence I'm leaving here a work with a snowy theme. Well, it's so hot nowadays so it wouldn't hurt to show you a drawing of an arctic fox which is curiously gazing at Galanthus Nivalis (yup, I drew "the trailers of the Spring" again).

a Sky from my Memories

Hello!

Lately I was having problems with a project for the next comic strip concerning Spring... And that was a reason why there were lack of posts. I apologize.

For now I decided to show you a graphic which was made a year ago. I experimented a bit. In the end a undermentioned work looks quite surreal and nostalgic.

a Sky from my Memories, graphic.

The basis of a Sky from my Memories was a photography of a sky made during Summer.

Hope you'll like a graphic from this post.

4 in 4: the Autumn leaves

Hello!

Today I'm announcing a cycle which is connected with Seasons' personifications I've designed. Its title is "4 in 4". I shortened this name because I wanted to create a good logo for series. Actually a full title is "the Four Seasons in Four Frames"

Although winter is coming, I wanted to make this first strip about Autumn. I've decided to publish each and every comic strips from '4 in 4' during actual Season. So for one year you should expect four comic strips. Now's Autumn turn, so the next comic strip will be concerned with the Winter.

I wrote dialogue in bubbles in polish language but please don't worry. I made the translation in english which is available beneath the comic strip.

I hope you'll enjoy '4 in 4'. If you want you could wrote your suggestions about 4 Seasons in comments.

1st Frame:

Girl: Hello! What's up?
Boy: Oh, hey! Nothing but trouble, and also - those leaves make me sick!

2nd Frame:

Boy: What's so special about them, different colours, straight up? They fall and one should sweep them up, and if they're wet, it's impossible to walk on them...
Girl: Geez! You will always find a reason to complain...

Giewont

Hello!

In this post I would like to show a pastel which was made four or five years ago.

It was a gift for somebody important.

Giewont, pastel on paper.

Giewont (1895 m) is a mountain massif in the west part of Tatras. It's one of the most impressive mountains in mentioned mountain range because of its form resembling a profile of a sleeping man. There's even a legend about a sleeping knight morphed into rocks.

Pastel was inspired by one photography of one tourist book (which name I cannot recall).

Have a Nice Day!

the green mermaid

Hello!

the Green Mermaid, crayons on paper, 14,7 x 21 cm.

This time I kept up my work in shades of green. Mermaid is sitting on the rock. In the background there's a river and deep, coniferous forest. Hope you'll like such a monochromatic mermaid and her surroundings (although the idea of landscape came out of the blue).

So - it was another - monochromatic (!) - mermaid on my blog.
And probably - not last.

Have a Nice Day!

Come and see the Other World

Hello!

Long time no see :-) Lately there's so much work in my life I'm not able to find a time to publish new post. However today I want to show a drawing of a feminine reader.

The Other World, drawing on the cardboard.

Idea for this drawing started from a small doodle from my various notes. At the beginning it was only a young girl with a long green braid. She was wearing a long grey dress with black laces and cuffs.
So I decided to draw her on a separate work. Then I thought about her pose, activity and her surroundings.

a mermaid on a brown paper

Hello!

The first thing I must say is sorry. I apologize for my long absence and disability in organising my own life (hope that I find a solution for my problems).

Today I want to show a drawing of white-haired mermaid which is sitting on rocks. This sea creature seems pretty wild and also - thoughtful. I can't explain why I often draw people (mostly women) in the state of reverie or sadness. I think that's really intimate feeling, plus a message about inner struggles, longings, etc.

A Mermaid, pencil and a white crayon on a brown paper.

Oh, and one more thing. Lately I'm using a pencil and a white crayon on a brown paper. I really love the effect - it reminds me sketches of Renaissance artists I saw long time ago (I don't remember particular examples, sorry).

Have a Nice Day!
