Summary 2024

 HELLO!

So, as usual in the beginning of the new year I will briefly summarise what happened on the a-r-tistic blog in previous year. I'll try to bring up threads concerning changes on the blog, and also potential things I would like to do in 2025.

SO, LET'S BEGIN!

Summary 2024, graphic.
This graphic presents parts of works I've created in 2024.

Mermaid's charm

 HELLO!

Welcome back mermaids! It's been so long.

The last one work with mermaids I've published here was blue mermaid. Amazingly enough, there's a similarity between blue mermaid and Mermaid's charm (that's how I called new mermaid art). The posture of mermaids is alike.

This is Mermaid's charm.

Iris

 HELLO!

So, the whole idea for today's work appeared in my mind as an image of mysterious woman holding a flower. But which flower should I portray? That's a question. At first it was a bit difficult riddle but then I made a selection, and chose iris.

In quite unexpected conclusion an image of Iris, goddess from Greek mythology emerged.

The doodle I made in order to record my vision.

I drew a design on A3 paper.

4 in 4: Waiting

 HELLO!

The 14th comic strip from series "the Four Seasons in Four Frames" (in short: 4 in 4) is ready!

In new work the main heroine is Winter. So, what's the plot?

PLOT:

Winter's chariot met with an accident so she's waiting for the random passer-by. However, this whole long waiting makes her impatient...

As always, you will find the translation of bubbles below the comic strip.

ENJOY!

FIRST FRAME:

Winter: I chose a bad place... There's no one around.

SECOND FRAME:

Winter: Come, doggies, let's go! We were waiting too long.

Pandora

 HELLO!

From time to time I find films concerning mythology pretty interesting (especially greek and japanese ones). One of them got my attention to Pandora and her mysterious box. So I started thinking about her, and I was wondering how would I portray Pandora?

So, that's how Pandora became my aim.

Here is the 1st draft.

I wanted to capture a curiosity not only on her face but also in her movements. She swings forward the box and reaches to it with her right arm.

Below there's a final drawing made by a brown crayon on a paper.

a Dragon - part 2

 HELLO!

Today's the continuation of creating a dragon, and consequently - this is the last part of dealing with the dragon. If you want to remind yourself what happened in the 1st part, check it out HERE

My next step was colouring a dragon's eyes

I coloured his eyes with crayons - yellow, green and blue.

At first I wasn't sure which colours should I choose for this dragon. I was thinking about it pretty long.

Finally I decided that dragon will be gray, his thorns - brown, red, orange and yellow.

But I started from creating a background with soft pastels. I wanted to get an effect of the evening sky which is glowing because of the fire.

a Dragon - part 1

 HELLO!

One day I thought that it would be splendid to draw a dragon which doesn't look sillily. This desire was inspired by manga One Piece, and a sculpture of chinese dragon I saw in one of the polish museums.

So, my aim became a dragon.

This picture shows a Far Eastern Asian Dragon flying above the waterfall.
In this waterfall there are carps koi. This sketch was inspired by the legend about
the Golden Dragon.

4 in 4: snow is falling

 HELLO!

So, this is the 10th comic strip from the series "the Four Seasons in Four Frames". Now's the turn for Winter to be main character.

PLOT:

In a certain city snow is falling calmly.

Who could be responsible for all those snowflakes?

As always, you will find a translation of a bubble below the comic strip.

Bacchanalia in five graphics

 HELLO!

On certain rainy day I happened to be in Łazienki Park in Warsaw. In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful places in this city. There I noticed an interesting sculpture and took a photo.

You can look at the mentioned photograph below.

Bacchante holding a cluster of grapes, photo taken in 2016.
In my headcanon a pigeon which is sitting on Satyr's head
wants to join to Bacchanalia...

I decided to experiment a bit with this photograph because there was a lot of potential. So I created a few graphics.

Please, give them attention.

blue mermaid

Hello!

🐟

I experimented a bit... Again.

A graphic you're able to see below was formed from an old doodle of mermaid (I can't explain why but I sometimes like to draw mermaids) which was carried on a blue background.

the green mermaid

Hello!

the Green Mermaid, crayons on paper, 14,7 x 21 cm.

This time I kept up my work in shades of green. Mermaid is sitting on the rock. In the background there's a river and deep, coniferous forest. Hope you'll like such a monochromatic mermaid and her surroundings (although the idea of landscape came out of the blue).

So - it was another - monochromatic (!) - mermaid on my blog.
And probably - not last.

Have a Nice Day!

a mermaid on a brown paper

Hello!

The first thing I must say is sorry. I apologize for my long absence and disability in organising my own life (hope that I find a solution for my problems).

Today I want to show a drawing of white-haired mermaid which is sitting on rocks. This sea creature seems pretty wild and also - thoughtful. I can't explain why I often draw people (mostly women) in the state of reverie or sadness. I think that's really intimate feeling, plus a message about inner struggles, longings, etc.

A Mermaid, pencil and a white crayon on a brown paper.

Oh, and one more thing. Lately I'm using a pencil and a white crayon on a brown paper. I really love the effect - it reminds me sketches of Renaissance artists I saw long time ago (I don't remember particular examples, sorry).

Have a Nice Day!

Siren Song

Hello!

In the last day of September I published a drawing inspired by Yuki Kajiura's composition - "Siren song" (Tsubasa Chronicle OST). And I'm sorry for a quality of photo - in fact colours of the drawing are more saturated. Mermaids are connected with water so I decided to draw them in shades of blue and green.
Oh, and there's one thing - you probably wouldn't see this. A mermaid from the left lower corner is a small reference to Girl with a Pearl Earring made by Johannes Vermeer. That's all :-D

Siren Song (Mermaids), crayons on paper, 29,5 x 20,8 cm, 29-30.09.2017.

I hope you'll enjoy my work.

Have a nice day!

Themis

Hello!

This drawing of Themis was a commission for articles about law school.
This one drawing has also two another versions made in one graphic programme because I cannot decide which looks better :-)
In the photo you see original version of my drawing. I won't publish those versions from graphic programme.

Themis, published in "WUJ" few times
(no. 1, October 2015; no. 2, November 2015).

Have a nice day!
