The FTC has reached a proposed settlement requiring Nomad to return $37.5M in recovered funds and adopt a structured information security program following its 2022 smart contract exploit.

The complaint points to inadequate testing, ignored audit findings, and weak vulnerability intake processes. From an InfoSec perspective, this case reinforces the importance of secure change management and executive alignment on risk.

How can security teams better escalate and enforce risk concerns before deployment?

Federal laws requiring presidents to show cause are, on the other hand, commonplace. More than 30 statutes say that leaders of executive agencies can be removed only for some combination of the same factors cited in the shielding commissioners like Ms. Slaughter. Another 20 or so, like the one governing the Board, say only that agency leaders may be removed “for cause,” without elaboration.

I just saw a post on LinkedIn that Microsoft is raising the price of Office 365 for some users because of new AI features they've added. The increase could be as much as 33%.

Apparently, if you get a message about this price increase and then cancel your subscription, you're magically offered the option to subscribe to "Office 365 Classic", which is the same price and doesn't have the AI features.

I don't pay for an Office 365 subscription so I can't verify if this works, but frankly if I did I'd cancel it right now as a way to get rid of the AI. I'm sharing in case it helps anyone, and I'd love to hear if anyone tries this and if it works.

                                Post is here: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/dr-jeffrey-funk-a979435_technology-innovation-artificialintelligence-activity-7283082705028726784-0pJj/

Oh and as an aside: whenever you come across scammy corporate behavior like this you should report it to the FTC at https://ftc.gov/complaint . That form eventually asks for a bunch of personal information like you're address but you can omit that.
