Chookshed Stitchers end of year stitch in!!!!!!!!!

stepping out of life

This weekend I needed to step back and take a breath. So I did. 

I had a massive day chatting and sewing on zoom and sew I did. I achieved heaps.......

I started at 6am and went thru til 10.30pm......yes very long but it was so much fun catching up with everyone........it's like they were all sitting in the Chookshed with me stitching away.......with lots popping in and out around the globe as the day progressed.......it is weird working in all the time zones and that someone packed up and went to bed and when they woke they joined back in......but so much fun.........and we all have the common link of patchwork and quilting.....And there may be another person coerced to make Trail Mix with Maria and Janice.....

Early on I added the green and white block into the gap. 

Goodness knows why I had a gap anyway it's filled now.........

Not having the next block prepped I moved onto another long time project.....see below.....

Scarily I looked it up and in August 2011 I started this one........I remembered Leanne @ The Stitching Room had shared a photo of hers finished just after I had just got the pattern and papers. I didn't even know she had been making it. 

I should have taken a photo when I started today but at this point I had added 4 blocks on the top part of this section...........I have all the cream and blue blocks made for this quilt except the edge ones. 

By 9.30pm I had added 15 blocks and I would have added the last bottom right blue block but my hand was starting to cramp after so many hours of EPP so I thought I best stop.....

Yes yes I know what you girls are thinking who have been on retreats with me...........

THIS IS A MIRACLE.........I was a top achiever........lol........

Thanks to all the girls who popped in......with no distractions other then a quick trip into the house to find food or use the bathroom it was so good to be out in the Chookshed......

(I tidied and cleaned a little more on Friday afternoon - still more to go)

Sew sew sew.........

I will be doing another one. We all love it.

the autumn colour is gorgeous on my Chinese Tallowwood..........
the days were glorious and the nights pretty chilly............

thank you girls for joining me to celebrate the Chooksheds 5th birthday......... I think 7 would have to be the max number in the chookshed..........

I always say quilting is an addiction...........and it sure is when your opening dodgy little foil packages.............

I am making my quilt from this book............

I saw Debs quilt at GDITC show and tell.......I knew  I wanted to make one.......

the book arrived last Friday...........

slowly getting there..........I think it needs another block of yellow...........

And I still have a few to move around by the looks of this pic..........

in the end I just shoved the unfinished block up to get an idea of how it  was going.............

Sadly all to quickly everyone was gone and the weekend was over..............

I've been getting around the blog commenting and i hope I have not missed anyone............

Keeping the love of blogging alive

Yesterday.....

The day started with a rainbow.........actualy a double rainbow.......

We got a storm around lunch time...........we got 7mls........a few more storms floated about all afternoon........but cleared before dark.........

I had to duck into the Dr's again for the sinus right as one of the storms was coming thru...................still not cleared up so a different tablet now..........was feeling a bit better but went backwards..........

So it was a a good day to have friends sewing...............I have been working out handquilting............Sonia showed me how to start and finish.........

Had tried perle 8 but the Auriful 12 is easier to use..........

Robyn got this plus quilt cut out........

she managed to get the first 2 rows joined up............

Red, black, grey and white looks great......

Miss Jules got another dresdan drunkards path quilt cut out.........

dinner was by candle light as the power went out.........

came back on as I decided to go to bed............

no storms forecast for today but maybe tomorrow and Saturday.......

harvest is just about ready to go..........

visitors tomorrow night......

I was trying to catch up with all the lovely comments you girls left while I was away but I just can't manage........so i'll start again from now.......

I do love the comments it's what makes blogging fun interacting with everyone..............

how you going with the chooksheds birthday party preps?????

most importantly we need celebratory drinks.......yep chilling in the fridge already........

and before you say it no I am NOT going to drink all that myself.....lol.....

still a little sorting to do clearing the benches so there is room for everyone..............

but I am packing away properly so it is taking more time............

I need to pull out my projects and check where I am up to so I am organised for the weekend........

sewing with friends...........

Recently I had a few friends over sewing..........

simple easy lunch...........

one of my friends attaching the binding to her quilt............

another was cutting out fabric for this quilt in an American mag..........need to find a copy of this mag for myself................

a friends quilt top.........just to add a piano key border I think it is now...........

my internet has slowed to dialup as our usage has overloaded..........think updating ipods is responsible..........bugger though as there are a few more days til the 24th or 25th when it resets...........so if you have sent me pics of your SSCS it's too slow for me to open some emails with pics......sometimes I can hardly open an email esp if it has animation or pics in it........

......i'll get back to you next week when I can open and download the pics properly.......

.......it's driving me nuts........apologies now as I probably won't be replying to comments here unless necessary............
