I got this lovely set of
Sennelier Watercolors
for Christmas...;)))
I decided to give them a
bit of a play...
I find water coloring very intimidating.
But.....
After watching "K3N Cloth Tales" on
Youtube last night give a
tutorial on this process
I decided to
give it a try to see how
it goes...
First, I collaged scrappy bits
all over my
inexpensive Mixed Media paper
I just used glue stick and tore up papers from my
collage fodder folder:
torn pieces of brown paper,
coffee dyed papers crinkled up,
a picture of one of my stitcheries I copied,
and some torn tissue paper bits
along with scrapbook paper orts.
Then I searched and found this magazine picture
of a woman looking out into the future.
I thought :
she is looking at the "unknown"
which lies ahead of her...
and, reflects my state of mind
these days.....
I left this to dry thoroughly
overnight...
Then....
I wet up some Payne's Grey and
Rose Madder--two of my
favorite colors...
and proceeded to just blob them
all over my collage --
except for her image.
The result is a subtle, slight change...
which I really love.
It integrates her into the background
a bit more I feel...
💟💜
I will let this dry overnight and
then proceed to add some
"mark making"
over the surface...
What a fun and easy way to tip toe
into using watercolors...
👀Have a looksee
at Katharine's
"Cloth Tales" Youtube channel for
all sorts of lovely tutorials...
in both paper and fabric...👀
😊

This morning we ran a lot of errands and
stopped into the Waterford "Shack"
restaurant for a late breakfast
(brunch really)....
I had the "Classic":
2 eggs (over med), toast,
home fries, and bacon--
(I won't have to eat the rest of the day!!)
Yikes!! I haven't eaten like that
in ages--what a treat;)))
And Tom had his beloved Hash special
which included all my items plus hash...
Wholley-Molley!!
😉😋

Now I feel I need a nap...
What a luxury to be able to nap
in the afternoon...or whenever!!

Reading Colin Dexter's
ReplyDelete"The Dead of Jericho"--excellent Inspector Morse book...
[the tv series was super good, but the books
give a deeper look into the Inspector and his motivations...]
Your book is lovely with the accent of gray and rose madder. I was cleaning out a closet today and I found 3 different sets of water colors that I've never used. I didn't remember that I had them. I even made a little storage booklet for my brushes that I didn't remember making. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteWater colours intimidate the daylights out of me so I have to admire you for attempting to use them. Actually paint of any kind intimidates me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to use your watercolors! I love the effect you created just using 2 colors. Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the softness of the watercolours has really added another dimension to the collage, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour book is lovely, a great way to play with the watercolors---tho I was excited, thought you'd be painting again. Maybe both!
ReplyDeleteBrunch sounds so good, esp Tom's hash. I so love hash, have not had in many years, Perfect meal for a sunny but very cold day.
I am also a fan of K3n and have been playing with watercolor and visual journaling this month. Love your collage.
ReplyDeleteSomeone loves you a lot! Sennelier is not an inexpensive gift! And they will be beautiful using it as part of mixed media with your other materials!
ReplyDeleteWe watched the entire Morse series in order (thanks to streaming)--I thought of my dad who loved them. I don't think I've read any of the books! Your journaling is always so interestingly creative. Glad you had an outing with tasty food.
ReplyDeleteThose water colors really "made" the page. Beautiful layout.
ReplyDeleteI hadn’t heard of the Morse series but will look for it. I have a very old, poor quality set of watercolors. I should get a better one,.. not that I’m good.
