Matador & 5.5. inch Gun, Airfix, 1:76

Yesterday I finished my last buisness journey of the year. I hope to get more time for the hobby in the next weeks. Today I want to show you the Matador from Airfix. I painted it with Olive Drab from Tamiya as primer and then Valejo "Russian Uniform". Now the decals will be aplicated, followed by a wash with diluted oil colours and a drybrush. The roof isn´t glued because the Driver has to be painted. I took the figure of the kit but swapped the head. The gun needs a layer of paint. This Gun is for Paul`s "Month of the Guns" - Sorry, I´m one day late ;-)

Nachdem ich gestern die letzte Dienstreise des Jahres beendet habe, hoffe ich, nun wieder mehr Zeit fürs Hobby zu haben.
Heute ein paar Bilder vom Matador. Grundiert mit "Olive drab" von Tamiy folgte die Lackierung mit "Russian Uniform" von Valejo. Jetzt folgen die Decals, Tuschen mit Ölfarben und ein Bürsten. Das Dach ist noch nicht aufgeklebt, weil der Fahrer noch fehlt. Ich werde die Figur aus dem Bausatz nehmen, habe aber den Kopf ausgetauscht. Die Kanone ist noch nicht fertig lackiert.

Pak 35/36, ACE, 1:72

Yesterday was St. Martins day with a pageant in my village and the following "schnörzen" (The children went from house to house and sing songs about the holy St. Martin and got a few sweets for it)I was out with my sons the whole evening. Always a hightlight in autumn.
Because of that, nothing new can be presented. But I decided to try my first kit by using Photo etched parts. For a start, this Pak 35/36. The etched parts seem to be a little thick. I will take oictures of the progress. All of you a nice weekend!

Gestern war ja St. Martin und das wird bei uns im Dorf immer groß aufgezogen, mit Umzug, Feuer und anschließendem schnörzen (Als Neurheinländer wusste ich auch nicht, was das ist.) Da ich mit meinen Jungs natürlich dabei war, gibt es nichts neues.
Aber ich habe beschlossen, endlich mal was mit Photoätzteilen zu bauen. Zum Herantasten erstmal was kleines, diese PaK. Die Ätzteile scheinen ein wenig dick zu sein. Ich werde Euch auf dem laufenden halten!

Pak 36, Italeri, 1:72, Stellung, 1:72

I cleaned up my storage room last weekend and I found this PaK 36 from the Italeri (Old Esci) Set „German Guns“. It was build but not painted. So I did it last night. I also found the fortified place I bought last year and forgot in my cellar. So I painted it, too. I used Revell Aqua Colors (Beige, Brown, Wooden Brown, Earth) and GW Ogryn flesh and Devlon Mud for the washes.

Ich habe meinen Keller am Wochenende aufgeräumt und dabei diese PaK 36 gefunden. Sie ist aus dem Italeri-Set „German Guns“ (alter Esci Bausatz). Ich hatte sie bereits gebaut, aber nicht lackiert. Das habe ich dann gestern Abend gemacht. Auch habe ich die Stellung gefunden, die ich irgendwann im letzten Jahr ersteigert und dann im Keller verbuddelt hatte. Also wurde die gleich mitlackiert. Benutzt habe ich Revell Aqua Color Braun, Holzbraun, Beige und Erdfarben. Getuscht wurde mit GW Ogryn Flesh und Devlon Mud.

Enough is enough! I have to many unfinished projects. I decided that I will start a new one not before I finished an old one. Sometimes there is not much to do to finish a kit. In the next days I want to post all these unfinished projects. Part one: Guns

O.K. es reicht. Ich habe einfach zu viele begonnene Projekte. Ich habe beschlossen, erst ein neues zu beginnen, wenn ein altes beendet ist. Oft fehlt ja nicht viel zur Vollendung. Ich werde all die unvollendeten Projekte in den nächsten Tagen mal posten. Heute Teil 1: Kanonen

M7 HMC Priest, Revell, 1:76

Today some pictures of a kit I builded 2 years ago, the M7 "Priest". It was the third one I´ve build after a long pause. I remember that there were a lot of gaps needed a filling. Nevertheless a nice model. The figure at the MG is from AB Miniatures and the other one is a leftover from a Hasegawa-Kit. By looking at the pictures I recognized that there is some rework in painting needed, especially the wheels. The M7 will take part in my "Behind Omaha" Forces.



Heute mal ein paar Bilder vom M7 Priest. Ich habe ihn vor ca. 2 Jahren gebaut und es war das dritte Modell nach einer langen Pause. Ich kann mich erinnern, das eine Menge an Spachtelarbeiten notwendig war. Aber ich mag das Modell trotzdem. Die Figur am MG ist von AB Miniatures und die andere stammt aus einem Hasegawa-Bausatz. Bei Betrachtung der Bilder habe ich festgestellt, das ich insbesondere den Fahrwerksbereich noch mal lackieren muss. Der Priest wird meine alliierten Streitkräfte bei "Behind Omaha" unterstützen.

Pak 40 mit Crew, Italeri, 1:72

Here is my first unit for the "Behind Omaha" game. A german Pak 40 with Crew. 3 Servants and one officer. I will put them on bases as soon as possible.




Meine erste Einheit für "Behind Omaha". Eine Pak 40 mit 3 Bedienungsmannschaftne und einem Offizier. Sie kommen bald auf Bases.

Leichte Feldhaubitze, Revell, 1:72

Yesterday I was searching something in my cellar. In doing so I found a little box and when I opened it there was this: The light field howitzer 10,5 le FH 18 from Revell with limber and horses. Must have been there for 2 years and it was completely out of my mind. I suppose I gave up the painting that time because horses were something I didn’t dare to paint in a satisfying way. But I remember that the gun was the first kit where I started a conversion. I’ve cut off the barrel and used the end of a ball pen because it had the same size. I think it looks much better then drilling the barrel. The horses, limber and gun now will get a rework.


Als ich gestern Abend etwas im Keller gesucht habe ist mir eine kleine Box aufgefallen. Als ich sie öffnete fand ich diese leichte Feldhaubitze mit Protze und Pferden. Die müssen da seit fast 2 Jahren gelegen haben und ich hatte die nicht mehr auf dem Schirm. Ich glaube, damals wanderten die Sachen in die Kiste, weil ich mit der Bemalung der Pferde nicht zu Recht kam. Ich weiß aber noch, dass dies der erste Umbau war, den ich gemacht hatte. Ich habe das Rohr durch eine Kugelschreibermiene ersetzt, die den gleichen Durchmesser hatte. Sie bestand aus Metall und ich finde es so besser, als das Rohr aufzubohren. Ich werde mich mal dran machen, alles neu zu lackieren.

ACE, Pegasus, Leichtes Infantriegeschütz, 1:72

Yesterday I´ve continued the work at the „leichtes Infantriegeschütz“ from ACE (the right gun on the second picture). After the primary coat I´ve started the paint with Revell Aqua Color (Gun grey). I also continued with the Crews for the guns, both from the Pegasus-Set. The figures on the left will get a camouflage scheme; the right ones get a classic “Wehrmachtsuniform”. Still much to do but I hope to finish all this week.




Ich habe gestern am leichten Infantriegeschütz von ACE (rechts im 2. Bild) weitergearbeitet. Nach der Grundierung habe ich mit der eigentlichen Lackierung begonnen (Geschützgrau von Revell). Auch habe ich mit den Pegasus-Geschützbedienungen weitergemacht. Die Figuren links erhalten eine Tarnlackierung, die Rechten eine „klassische“ Wehrmachtsuniform. Es bleibt noch viel zu tun, aber ich hoffe, diese Woche fertig zu werden.

ACE, Leichtes Infantriegeschütz LG 18, 1:72

As promised now some pictures of the "Leiches Infantriegeschütz LG 18" from ACE. Nice little kit with fine details. I´ve only added the two handholds. I think that this kit would get the wooden wheels. The kit isn`t finished yet because i want to paint it before glueing the last parts. The figures are from the Pegasus-Set (the "Wehrmacht" - Figures). They are absolutely great. You even can see the nails in the soles of the boots.



Wie versprochen heute ein paar Bilder vom ACE LG 18. Ein netter kleiner Bausatz. Gebaut "out of the box", nur die Handgriffe wurden aus Draht hinzugefügt. Das Geschütz wird wohl die Holzräder erhalten. Die letzten Klebearbeiten werde ich aber erst nach der Lackierung machen, sonst kommt man an die Teile nicht so gut ran. Die Figuren sind aus dem Pegasus - Set der LG 18 (Hier die Wehrmachtsversion). Die Figuren sind einfach klasse, sogar die Nägel auf den Fußsohlen sind zu erkennen.

Revell, Sd.Kfz. 124 "Wespe", 1:76

Today a few words about the picture in the header of this blog. The Sd.KfZ. 123 “Wespe” from Revell/Matchbox in 1:76. I wrote a feature about this kit for the online modelling magazine “modellversium” (Please follow the link in the German part). It`s only in german but you will find a few more pictures. I´ve made this little Diorama two years ago and it was the first one i`ve ever made. The Crew is from Preiser (Tank Crew and Panzergrenadiere) and the two figures outside the Wespe are from different Revell-Sets (Afrikakorps). The one with the signalling disc was converted. Before he hold a granate. The left arm was replaced. Unfortunately the figure was falling out of my hands and the new arm was broken. I tried to fix it but it is still visible. The Dio is an old picture frame filled with “Holzspachtelmasse” (I really have no idea what is the English translation for this – it`s something to fill gaps in wood and after drying it is as hard as stone).

Pegasus, Leichtes Infantriegeschütz LG 18, Teil 3

Das LG 18 hat seine erste Farbschicht erhalten. Lackiert wurde mit Revell Aqua color "Geschützgrau". Ich habe mich nun für die Metallräder entschieden. Ich denke, das ACE Geschütz bekommt dann die Speichenräder. Das Modell von ACE ist nun auch fast fertig, so dass ich in den nächsten Tagen einen Vergleich ziehen kann. Allen eine gute Woche! Die Deatilbemalung und Alterung fehlt noch.




The LG 18 got his first layer of paint. I used Revell Aqua Colors "Gun-Grey". The details of painting like weathering will follow next days. I decided to take the metall wheels. The ACE kit perhaps will get the wooden wheels. The ACE LG 18 is nearly finished so I can compare both kits in a few days. Have a nice week!

Italeri, ZIS AT Kanone, 1:72

Hier einige Bilder von einem weit fortgeschrittenen Projekt. Die ZIS AT Kanone von Italeri. Für ein Steckmodell ganz ordentlich bis auf die Auswerfermale auf dem Schild. Die Figuren sind spitze. Drei weitere sind noch nicht ganz fertig. Bei der Kanone muss noch etwas lackiert werden. Insgesamt ein sehr zu empfehlendes Set.


Today I will show you an almost finished Projekt, the ZIS AT Gun from Italeri. The Gun is o.k. for a snap together kit (is this the right translation for "Steckmodell"? I don`t know). The Servants are excellent. Three more aren`t finished yet. The gun needs a few painting details. A recommendable kit by Italeri.

Italeri, Flak-Vierling, 1:72

Ich habe in meinem Keller noch einige Modelle, die ich irgendwann mal angefangen, aber dann aus welchen Gründen auch immer nicht fertig gestellt habe. Einige sind fast fertig, bei anderen ist noch viel zu tun. Heute mal etwas aus der Kategorie „fast fertig“. Es handelt sich um den Flak-Vierling von Italeri (alter Esci-Bausatz). Das Modell fand ich Anfangs ganz ordentlich, aber mittlerweile suche ich doch etwas Filigraneres. Die Flak sollte auf ein Diorama, mittlerweile habe ich dafür aber einen Bausatz von ACE erstanden. Mir passte es nicht, das die Flak nur auf dem Wagen montiert darstellbar war. Deshalb habe ich die Bodenplatte vorsichtig vom Anhänger gelöst. Die Füße wurden aus kleinen Stücken Büroklammer und ausgestanzten Plastikkreisen ergänzt. Die Figur stammt ebenfalls von Italeri, aus dem Set Pak 40 mit Bedienung. Diese Figur ist für die Pak nicht zu gebrauchen, eine Hand fehlt ganz und die andere ist durch ein Handrad ersetzt. Aber als Flak-Bedienung fällt das kaum auf. Die Lackierung muss ich noch überarbeiten und vervollständigen.




Today you will find a Flak-Vierling from Italeri (old Esci-Kit). It is almost finished. The first idea was to place it in an Africa-Diorama but now i`ve got a new and more detailed kit from ACE. So I will repaint this one for another scenario. I disliked the idea that you could build this Flak only on the trailer so I cut it off. The new “feet” were built with wire and punched plastic sheet. The Figure is from Italeri as well (Set Pak 40 AT Gun with Servants). It is useless as a PAK servant because he had a badly formed left hand and a wheel in the right. But as a Flak Servant it works and the hands, or to be more precise the missing hands, are not viewable.
