A lonely (k)night, Italeri

In my office this little fellow guards my Computer since 2009. But now I think I should give him a second chance. I hope to give him more "depth" by doing a wash and take a closer look on the details.
A successful week to everyone!

Painting: How it started.....my first knights!

Have I ever mentioned that I started my "Minifigures-Painting career" about 3 years ago because I wanted to paint some knights for my older son? As a child I´d got hundreds of small soldiers but never painted them. I built loads of planes and battleships at that time and painted them, but never the minis. But when my son started to play with knights I started to build him a castle and purchased some knights. On weekend we cleaned up our cellar and I found these figures. I glued them on this stick for the pictures. As you can see, I had no ideas of "washing" or drybrushing three years ago. Some were never finished as well and some had heavy fights in the sandbox ;-). Perhabs I will give them a second try, just because the next son started playing with these figures...

Livonian Knights, Zvezda, 1:72

Today I want to show you my first attempts on the Livonian Knights from Zvezda. Nice Figure set. I was surprised that it isn`t easy to get the right touch of the white tunics. I painted them with "pale sand" washed them and drybrushed with "white".

Welcome to CarloAntonio. You´re Number 50, a kind of jubilee ;-)

My home is my castle - update

Today I want to show you an update of our "father-son" project, the castle. We made the brick-lines with a ballpen (that took hours) and started painting the walls. And we added a little shed for the horses. Still a lot to do, but still a lot off fun!

English Archers, Revell, 1:72

Today my first Archers from Revell. I´m satisfied with the painting, but I will cut off the bow strings and replace them with something else.

Windmill, unknown scale, Crusader, Italeri, 1:72

I was able to get my hands on this nice windmill. It was self-made and is lightly damaged. But I have all the broken parts and hope to fix it. For example the both arms of the mill or the covering. If you transfer the hight into 1:72 scale, the mill is 35 Metres high. I put a crusader at the front door for a comparison. It was the only figure I had earby when I made the pictures. I think, a nice building with various possibilities to use.

Castle Part 2

Today part 2 of my father & son Project. We continued the work on the walls and a little stable for the horses was build. I take this as a good parctise, because I want to start building houses soon.

To be continued....

And now to something totally different....Knights, First Projekt 2011

When you follow this Blog you could see that all the posts of the past deal with warfare of the 20 th century. Now for the first time I will show you a new Projekt from the Middle ages.
The reason why? My son starts to interest in Kinghts and on the 1st of January he asked if I could build a castele and give him some knights to play with. Fortunately I had a view figures in my Stock. So we started to build a castle and I started to paint the Minis. Here speed and a colorful style are most important, because you know the impatience of children and he likes colours. I think, for 2 days work it is a good start. As the boy is on holiday for the rest of this week I will present the finished castel at weekend. (I hope so)!
