KBB Kaikeshi on Kickstarter!

We consider Rand Borden, the creator of Kaiju Big Battel, extended family over here. My sister Megan (AKA the ravenous dimwit space bug known as Sky Deviler) introduced me to Rand over 15 years ago, in an early effort to put together a "Kaikeshi" series of minifigures in the spirit of the legendary Kinnikuman/ M.U.S.C.L.E. toys.

Upon our first meeting, we spent the entire day sketching and analyzing the incredible array of characters Rand had summoned forth from his monster filled brain. It was a great visit and I was honored to be allowed to contribute to the KBB madness in even a small way.

After about a week, I'd completed the basic control art shown above, based on Rand's initial selections for the proposed first lineup. Though we both really wanted to get the Kaikeshi project into full production, it never came into focus due to about a million things.

That is until now!

If you get a chance, click over to Rand's new Kaikeshi Kickstarter and witness the resurrection of a nearly forgotten project! The character lineup is much larger than before, and a certain Traveler even managed to phase into the mix as well!

The whole Onell family wishes Rand the very best!

KBB NYC

We may not be in NYC this year for comic con, but a certain Traveler is scheduled to warp into the ring with the Kaiju Big Battel crew on Saturday, October 11th, intent on grappling with Mr. Borden's monstrosities for the first time since 2011.

If you feel like seeing something totally bananas and 100% insane, check out the show here.

Good luck Pheyden, you're going to need it!

Family Feud

Our recent crossover with the lunatics at Kaiju Big Battel out in Las Vegas will go down as one of the most demented things any member of my family has ever taken part in.

My Uncle Kenny (known to the general public as Wahoo), my sister Megan and I all battled each other in the squared circle in a childhood dream come true. Let me tell you that wrestling in those suits is not easy, just look at the video above and watch me barely navigate my surroundings. I look like a giant alien baby learning to walk for the first time and failing horribly- and I loved every minute of it.

Megan was an old pro in the ring and she showed some serious toughness by wrestling in four different matches! I nearly died after one. Hopefully we can have another showdown the next time KBB has a show back here on the East Coast. We'll probably end up suplexing our cousins for a follow up.

Monster sized thanks go out to Rand Borden, creator and mastermind behind KBB, for allowing multiple members of the Doughty clan anywhere near that event. I've been wanting to clothesline my Uncle Kenny since I was child and it was everything I hoped it would be. Cousin Eric, you are next.

Big thanks go out to Rand Borden for allowing us to tinker with his creation and hooking us up with our first foray into vinyl. Also thanks to Josh B at CollectionDX for letting us ride along as he spread the word about this crossover. Lastly, I want to personally thank my sister Megan for hooking this whole deal up, staying on her good side keeps me from getting monster stomped.

Starting at the end of December some new versions of the boys will start to show up. The first two are Frontier Pheyden and Cyber Ghost Exellis. For the next three months and into Toy Fair New York we will release a new version of Pheyden and Exellis per month. Gobon and the Crayboth are cooking and special preview editions will be available mid-end of January. The packaged full runs will drop at the end of February/ beginning of March. Some surprises are also in the works. 2008 will be a very active year for new product and fun promotions. Oh yeah, maybe a Sky Deviler will visit the Glyos System next month....
