Thank You!!!

Big thanks for a solid release last week! The trip down primary color lane seemed to resonate fairly well with you guys, and hopefully once everything lands in your hands, the building wheels will really begin turning.

The inspiration for this wave is heavy on the classic Lego Space theme, with a strong mix of 2001: A Space Odyssey swirled in. Though I do believe that 2001 (1968) directly influenced the Lego Space (1978) color selections, 2001 may also have been paying a little homage to Mattel's good old Major Matt Mason (1966) as well. Carrying on the time-honored tradition of primary colored spacemen seemed like a natural choice for space geeks like us. Swapping around the colors from this assortment can produce some neat combos, but we wanted you to discover the variety on your own, keeping in line with the great Lego philosophy.

Looking forward into June, we'll all see some amazing new twists from both Spy Monkey and Bio-Masters that should make the fantasy fans go bonkers. We'll be rounding things out at the end of June with our own fantasy themed wave that bookends a special month of medieval madness!

All packages have hit the post as of this writing save just a few orders. Michelle and I tackled this one alone, hence the later than usual post.

In closing, I wanted to personally address a couple of concerns that I've recently seen posted about the direction of things around here.

Some folks really long for the days of detail lines, Passcodes, comics, release lists and massive waves of vinyl. Those options are very limited now or are no longer feasible, but we have continued to push things in different directions, not just with our own line, but with our sister companies as well. It's easy to forget, but Glyos has been in a state of metamorphosis since its inception, with each year producing a different variation and focus. Gradual, yes, but still changing and growing at a steady pace.

Over the last decade, we've seen some intense shifts in our hobby, and just as much on the business side of things. Running an operation like this and being able to survive depends almost solely on your ability to change and evolve under intense pressure. Obstacles arise weekly, as any small business owner can attest to. Cash flow is always tight, especially if you want to keep vital. Decisions have to be made that you know won't please everybody, but you do what's best for the majority of the ship so the mission can continue.

It's never been my intention to shut people out or exclude opinions. I truly value every piece of advice, and though sometimes painful to hear, each and every criticism. We don't live in a vacuum and never have. Some viewpoints are extremely myopic, others are dead on, but at the end of the day, they are all personal perspectives on something we choose to do and are 100% responsible for. For better or for worse.

There are some fairly major things in the works over here (I'm aware that this always seems to be the case in these posts, but it's not without merit). We have some crossover projects that won't surface until later this year, but they are unlike anything we've explored before. Some of you are going to love it, and some will not at all, but it will definitely open up some exciting new worlds.

I believe it's the nature of survival to leave certain things behind, and we will continue to lose and gain for as long as we are allowed to do this.

It's my hope that you continue to evolve with us, and enjoy the journey for everything that it's been so far. Regardless of whatever has been said and done, I couldn't be more thankful for the last 10 years.

Return of the Banimon Red Army Men!

Overcoming a multitude of obstacles thrown at him by both nature and by man, our good friend Boris Savic will finally roll out the return of his Banimon Red Army Men tonight, February 28th, at 9:30PM EST over in his store!

Making its second appearance in the spotlight as a full production vinyl piece is the Banimon Bunkerbuster tank, this time decked out in a green that might be familiar to those of you who like your plastic in Volkriun hues. This new Bunkerbuster is fully compatible with all of the vinyl we produce around here, and its colors match right up to last year's VSF wave.

I had some fun taking a modified Bunkerbuster (shown above with a few of our parts mixed in) for a spin across the piles of snow out back as the sun was setting, and the little armored machine proved once again that it's truly a blast to play with.

Well done, Boris! I'm loving this tank!

Mission Details

We are currently getting blasted by a mega slushy winter storm, so being in front of the computer in between plowing duties is a welcome respite! It truly looks like a Slurpee cloud has parked over our town and decided to drown all lifeforms with a liqui-freeze vengeance. At least the girls and I have been able to raid all of Michelle's cakes for tomorrow.

This final release for 2014 has been in the works since the beginning of the year, completing the series of return visits to some of our older assortments. The previous Pappysoup Volkriun selections each hold a special place with us over here, especially the 2012 5th Anniversary round. We generated a lot of crazy content internally and with our longtime collaborators for that big wave, capped off by the introduction of the first production Armorvor. I had hoped to have the new Armorvor head ready to accompany this Volkriun Space Force crew, but Captain Ruger and the green machines will have to wait just a little longer to discover what new activities the Armorvors are involved in.

To spice things up Argen has returned from a little Gendrone walkabout along with his cohort, Enyriun, this time with both of them sporting an "Ultra" metallic pearlescent gold look including full detail lines. This matches right up with the recent Sectivorus Supreme Kabuto Mushi by the Godbeast himself, Marty "Totinos" Hansen.

Something a little different, as far as paint applications go, is also in the mix for Sunday, materializing in the form of a special Redlaw Phanost. Shot in clear purple (Henshin inspired), this particular Phanost has painted metallic silver accents, and then a black detail line around all those silver areas as well as the lower portions under his eyes. The idea was to create the effect of the silver armor almost floating on the clear purple parts, and the end result is something that I've only ever tried with custom stuff. The included Sarvos and Scar Pheyden heads looks pretty sharp with this added effect as well.

The final part of this equation comes in the form of an Alcray themed Super Crayboth Pod. The familiar hues of light orange, pink and purple are all back, and for the first time a Reverse Alcray (Standard) has been produced.

Gah! Even when I try to keep it short I end up making a mini mountain! That being said, everything is in hand and ready to go.

We are still on track for this Sunday, November 30th at 9:30PM EST!

Thank You!!!

Thank you for making the return of the Rig Crew a good one!

Bringing back Gearius and Klace continues the overall theme of 2014, with many of the core characters from the Passcodes and comics getting updated releases. Gearius holds a special place in our strange history, as the master prototype Scar Pheyden sculpt was based on a custom Gear's Edge Pheyden I cut into way back in our early days. I remember playing with that figure like crazy and modifying the look as time passed, adding a scarf and removable belt into the mix. The removable scarves and belts that the current Rig Crew II Travelers feature were specifically developed during those years of experimenting with that old Scar Pheyden custom. I still have "Desert Scar" sitting on my desk and keeping the other long lost customs in line, even his battle worn brother, the other Scar Pheyden. Maybe the fact that I have always had a crummy right eye somehow translated into my figures perpetually having some kind of ocular issues in their own tiny lives. I guess I should put some interchangeable glasses in the next steel tool.

Looking (with one eye) into the next few months, expect to see two more releases before the year wraps up, one in late October and one in late November/early December. The October wave will see the debut of the previously mentioned new Armorvor head, which is an all new sculpt. This addition will allow for you to still play with the "helmeted" wolf head, but also introduce a different race into the mix , effectively giving you two types of critters. The new head design is not meant to simulate "fitting inside" the current helmeted head like the original furry wolf noggin, but instead serves as a completely separate bipedal species that utilizes the Armorvor technology. As the Armorvor wolf head paid homage to the much loved original Battle Beasts line, this new head is also a tribute to something from the 80's, albeit a bit more obscure.

Wrapping up, our family remains forever grateful for all your support! After so many years and with so much stuff out there to discover, it means everything that you still have interest in the things we do around here. Thank you once again for continuing to play in this corner of the universe!

Mission Details

This list was a bit of a roller coaster to put together, as I received everything later than planned (I always check the goods in hand before completing and publishing the official release specifics). My sincere apologies for the late posting of the final details.

It's hard to believe that it was four years ago that we first met the original Rig Crew, introduced in one of our longest Passcodes, Soul of the Traveler. I remember working around the clock with Marcus and Rich "Disasterpeace" Vreeland, as we collectively went a little more bananas with each passing day. The end result was an absolute and complete collaboration, and I'm still very thankful for how far Marcus and Rich pushed the limits to make something that I still believe holds up after a pretty good amount of time. That project will forever be one of my favorites, and the outcome of our triple attack produced something that transported the three of us into a very satisfying and creative dimension.

A couple notes about this new assortment:

-The painted accents on Gearius and Klace feature the first decorated Dark Traveler chest piece (they should know better than to mess around with that armor).

-There are four PVC colors mixed between the Travelers, consisting of Brown, Dark Brown, Black and Sand (the old Gear's Edge hue).

-The Armorvor wolf head officially makes its exit after this round.

-The Glyans once again are configured in the "Hunter" build, utilizing the Dark Traveler outer scarf and belt to beef things up.

We are still on track for this Sunday, September 7th at 9:30PM EST!

Marcus and I have been wanting to run a new version of Gearius for a bit, and this year lined up to be the right one to bring the old Traveler back, along with Klace in some Real Type hues. Speaking of hues, the subtle combinations of browns and grays in this wave took a number of attempts to get just right, and definitely ranked high up there in the challenge department. We hope you like how everything turned out!

Thanks for reading this word whirlwind!

Glyaxia Heavy Armored Block Trooper

Another older build, slightly modified and updated with the recent Glyaxia wave of parts.

I still play around with the original version of this Block Trooper, so getting a chance to make a few in the yellow and blue has been a lot of fun! These beefballs pay direct homage to the classic series, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, as well as the late era Microman Armored Suits of legend.

Mission Details

Writing this list brings us closer to completing a long cycle, as a version of this wave was originally supposed to see production back in 2012, during the larger vinyl releases of that time. Multiple factors kept pushing the assortment out, and eventually we put Glyaxia into what seemed like an endless holding pattern. It's 100% thanks to you guys that we now have the ability to bring Glyaxia Command into the fold as it was meant to be- a vinyl infused, Block Based Barrage!

I personally hope you enjoy seeing the return of Glyaxia Command to the ranks, and my fingers are mega crossed that we have better luck with the overall timing than the original Glyaxia assortment back in 2010!

We also want to mention that in the tradition of the original Glyaxia release, we've been working on something special regarding new content, delving back into our roots- but with a little twist.
Get your trigger fingers ready...

We are still on track for this Sunday, May 11th at 9:30PM EST!

This round also fills in a few more of the Fisher Price/Micro colors that we have been paying homage to since early last year. The blue hue is very rich and pops like crazy under direct lighting, finding a solid middle ground between the Ecroyex blues from late 2013. Also possessing a visual punch is the new yellow, which tips more towards the golden/Sonesidar range than a simple straight yellow does. When you combine the new Glyaxia yellow with the Sonesidar yellorange, the subtleties make for a pretty neat looking color fusion.

New pics will be popping up as we get closer to Sunday night, and a few small surprises may find their way into the mix to add a little extra fun! Elements of this wave will play directly into our plans for late  July's 7th anniversary assortment, so keep your eyes peeled for possible clues as to what's on the horizon.

The Hades Redux Edition has been bumped back a bit, but is still in motion and will land in either late June or July.

Thanks as always for taking the time to check things out around here, and for surviving another one of these Text Timewarps!

EDIT: I corrected the BELT and SCARF packouts for the Sarvos figures:

-The Yellow Sarvos comes with a BLUE belt and scarf.

-The Blue Sarvos comes with a YELLOW belt and scarf.

My mind was burnt toast this morning!

Shipping Details

We are in the process of getting the shipping done, with the first wave of boxes on track to head out tomorrow. There was a healthy variety in this drop, so it took a few extra days to line everything up. Expect the shipping notices to start flying late tomorrow afternoon.

I hope you guys dig the colors when they arrive in hand. The toys truly do have some interesting properties under different lighting, which can scramble your brain when trying to photograph them. I took the above shots under a few fluorescent lights, which seemed to pop the yellow a little and turned the greens in the vinyl a tiny bit brown. While taking the shots it was cool to finally be able to have the United Glyan Coalition mix it up with the new kid in town.
I think the UGC may need some back up....

The Armorvor utilize Delphi designed Black Core Survival Suits, which function like a second skin and keep the user protected from virtually any environment, as well as  the effects of Phase Dimensional travel.

The firepower of one Survival Suit, used by a skilled operator, can rival that of a Heavy Armored Rig. Though the Rigs also use Black Core in their construction, the Armorvor were able to master the use of this mysterious substance over many cycles during their exile in Zorennor, achieving another level of technological symbiosis with their hardware as they evolved over time.

Combined, these facts effectively make a single Armorvor the equivalent of a one man army.

6.05.2012

Edge Breaker

This vinyl build is my attempt at a more "heroically" proportioned character, something that would also be able to stand next to an original Takara Robotman/Biotron and sort of fit in scale wise. This is a very tall configuration as far as Glyos goes, clocking in a just over 11 inches from head to mecha boot thing.

The head (which forms the back part of a WARP Bike/Rig Runner) in particular is something that I've been wanting to pop on the right build as it was originally designed to look like an armored Traveler noggin (hence the three "teeth" and round inner dome). Jesse did a completely awesome build for our buddy Phil Reed of Battlegrip.com a while back that used this "head" on a crazy Devastator inspired configuration that was truly a knockout!

6.03.2012

Chicken Palm

Heavy Runner in Reverse Mode. There are a number of other forms as well, but I think I like this BSG Viper influenced one the best of them. The Switch Pin looking like a big headlight (or maybe a Phase Cannon) is kind of fun.

Also shown above, an outdoor pic of the SDD Variable Suit, sitting like a baby chicken in the palm of my hand.

Did I mention we actually now have twelve baby chickens living with us? Maybe we'll start sending eggs out with the toys before the year is over.
