Flags of the World | Morocco

The flag of Morocco was officialy adopted on November 17, 1915. At the center of the flag is a green pentagram. This emblem is a symbol of the five pillars of Islam: the Shahada, Alms, Prayers, Fasting, and Hajj.

Kapingamarangi atoll | Micronesia

The Caroline Islands are a widely scattered archipelago of tiny islands in the western Pacific Ocean, to the north of New Guinea. Politically they are divided between the Federated States of Micronesia in the eastern part of the group, and Palau at the extreme western end.

Kapingamarangi is an atoll in the state of Pohnpei of the Federated States of Micronesia. It is by far the most southerly atoll of the Caroline Islands. The island has 500 inhabitants.

Flags of the World | Marshall islands


Postcard
The flag of the Marshall Islands was adopted upon the start of self-government, May 1, 1979.

In 1947 the USA and the UN Security Council signed an agreement putting the "Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands" (most of Micronesia, including the Marshall Islands), under the wing of America.
Thousands of troops and their families were based at the islands. In total 66 nuclear tests were carried out between 1946 and 1958 on Bikini and Enewatak.

After a 1975 referendum, the Trust Territory was split into the separate states of Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and Republic of the Marshall Islands. In 1979, the Marshall Islands became self-governing.

Dragon boat is a human-powered boat (Paddled Water Craft) traditionally made of teak wood to various designs and sizes. It is one of a family of Traditional Long Boats found throughout Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands. It is now used in the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing.

The Burundi flag was officially adopted on June 28, 1967. The three stars represent the three ethnic groups that live in the country; the Hutu, Tutsi and the Twa. The red in the flag stands for the independence struggle, the green for hope and the white for peace.

Montpelier Plantation | Saint Kitts and Nevis

Nevis is located about 350 km east-southeast of Puerto Rico and 80 km west of Antigua. The island has a population of about 11,000. Together with neighbouring island of Saint Kitts it constitutes one country: the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Originally a sugar plantation, today the historic Montpelier Plantation is a Hotel and beach resort.

The Hall of Giants | USA

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is a Unesco World Heritage site. This karst landscape in the state of New Mexico comprises over 80 recognized caves. They are outstanding not only for their size but also for the profusion, diversity and beauty of their mineral formations.

The Hall of the Giants, or Big Room, is the largest chamber in Carlsbad Caverns with a floor space of 357,469 square feet. In this hall you find the 62 foot high Giant Dome and the Twin Domes.

Satun is one of the southern provinces of Thailand, close to the Malaysian border. Today, the South Andaman Sea of Thailand in Satun is a popular travel destination among foreign and Thai travelers.

One of the main attractions is the 51 islands that make up Tarutao National Park, Thailand’s first Marine National Park (established in 1972). All but one of the 51 islands are uninhabited. Like many of the islands in this region, koh Dong is a popular diving spot.

Gebel Barkal | Sudan

Gebel Barkal is a very small mountain located about 400km north of Khartoum, capital of Sudan. The mountain is 98 m tall, has a flat top, and apparently was used as a landmark by the traders in the important route between central Africa, Arabia, and Egypt.

Together with the Sites of the Napatan Region, Gebel Barkal is a UNESCO World Heritage site, comprising five archaeological sites. They include tombs, with and without pyramids, temples, burial mounds and chambers, living complexes and palaces.

Speicherstadt Hamburg | Germany


Postcard
Speicherstadt in Hamburg, Germany is the largest warehouse district in the world. The complex was built in 1883. The warehouses are built on oak piles and the district is crossed by what are known as fleets - canals that are flooded depending on the tides and can then also be travelled by ship. One of the fleets on this postcard is Hollandfleet.

Nauru Airlines

Nauru Airlines is the national carrier of the Republic of Nauru, operating passenger and freighter services to and from the Central Pacific. Today Nauru Airlines utilizes a Boeing 737 aircraft.

Nauru is an island country in Micronesia in the Central Pacific. With just under 10,000 residents in a 21-square-kilometre area, Nauru is the third smallest state by area in the world. Only Vatican City and Monaco are smaller.
