Tina, please ignore the previous code and use the following that also updates the number of agents the debug are considering.
    public boolean executeAction(String agName, Structure action) {
        logger.info("creating agent");
        try {
            // create settings for sync execution
            Settings stts = new Settings();

            // if we are running in debug mode...
            CentralisedExecutionControl ec = RunCentralisedMAS.getRunner().getControllerInfraTier();
            if (ec != null) {
                stts.setSync(true);
            }

            getEnvironmentInfraTier().getRuntimeServices().createAgent("newag", "n.asl", null, null, null,stts);

            if (ec != null) {
                ec.getUserControl().updateNumberOfAgents();
            }
        } catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
        return true;
    }

Dear Tina,
the agents you are creating have to be "aware" that they will run in "debug mode" (aka SyncMode). In the their creation you have to define some parameters to say that, as in the following code
    public boolean executeAction(String agName, Structure action) {
        logger.info("creating agent");
        try {
            // create settings for sync execution
            Settings stts = new Settings();

            // if we are running in debug mode...
            if (RunCentralisedMAS.getRunner().getControllerInfraTier() != null) {
                stts.setSync(true);
            }

            getEnvironmentInfraTier().getRuntimeServices().createAgent("newag", "n.asl", null, null, null,stts);
        } catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
        return true;
    }
When the debug window appears, click on "Run" button some times and them the "newag" will be included in the list of agents.
Note that this solution will work only with centralised architecture.
HTH,
Jomi
ps.: it has worked on MacOS by change, due to a different thread allocations.

Hi Rafael and Jomi,
I have a display problem in the debug mode. At the beginning of my
simulation I use a simulator agent to create all other agents.
if(action.equals(Literal.parseLiteral("create_agent"))){
        	for(int i=0; i<numAgent; i++){
        		model.setAgent("ag_" + i);
        		createAgent("ag_" + i, "src/asl/agent.asl");
        	}
        	result = true;
        }
This works completely fine and the new agents are created and used in the
simulation. Thus, when I run the simulation in the normal mode the agents
are interacting, etc. and when I pause the simulation and click on the debug
mode I see all agents with their intentions,... However, if I run the
simulation in the debug mode right from the start, in the debug window only
the simulator agent is shown for analysis and although the other agents are
created and the simulation is running with them, they are not added for the
detailed analysis in the debug window. I'm using the Jason for Windows and
the eclipse plugin and have the problem when I'm running the simulation from
eclipse as well as from the Jason tool itself. A friend of mine who is using
Jason as well (he is using a version for the Mac that was delivered with
eclipse), has been running my code and gets the agent display (off all
agents) in the debug mode. Do you have any idea on how to solve this issue,
as obviously the debug analysis is quit important to the simulation?
Thanks in advance,
Tina

Hi Jomi, Actually, I would like to generate a list of lists, such as L3. If I use "A2 = use(car,Agent);" I will obtain L2. The problem is when generating a list of lists. BTW, the version with A2=[...] should also work. In this case, it is a bug we are looking for a solution. Hi Francisco,
I tried your code and it seems the problem is the value of A2
...
+!start
  <- !findAllWrapper(use(car,Agent),ag(Agent),L);
     .print(L);
	 A = use(car,Agent);
	 B = ag(Agent);
	 !findAllWrapper(A,B,L2);
     .print(L2);
	 !findAllWrapper([use(car,Agent)],ag(Agent),L3);
     .print(L3);
	 A2 = [use(car,Agent)];
	 B2 = ag(Agent);
	 !findAllWrapper(A2,B2,L4);
     .print(L4).
....
A2 should be
	A2 = use(car,Agent);

and not a list.
Let me know if this is not a solution.
All the best,
Jomi

Posting my reply to the mailing list as well: Hi Rafael, Thanks for quick answer :) Unfortunately it quite urgent and important matter for me, so I will stick to changing the TS for the time being. I'll try to limit it as much as I can though (I hope what I've done is enough), to be ready to remove it when I can. As for cascading down the intention stack - it is exactly what I need. And you are right about doing it also after contingency plan fails. I forgot to mention it earlier. It is not essential to my work, but for me such behaviour would be more intuitive than dropping the intention. It would also allow to do some work after plan failure (e.g. cleaning) and then by failing contingency plan, pass the failure further (like throwing exception further in Java). Waiting to see the outcome of the discussion :) Best Regards, Tomasz |

Hi, I have ben doing some work on plan failure handling and have noticed that plan failure event is generated when a candidate plan is found for some goal on current intention stack. It means that if I write a failure handling plan, e.g. -!p : some_context <- some_plan and the context is nottrue within current belief base, then whole intention is dropped. Same case when no relevant plan is found. I would like to handle given plan failure only when I have means (context) to do so. Otherwise, I would like to handle it further in the intention stack. I have customised agent architecture and transition system, overloading findEventForFailure() method so it looks for applicable plan instead of candidate plan. It seems to do the job, but I don't have sufficient understanding of Jason's architecture to tell if it won't spoil something else. I especially wouldn't want to change Jason's semantics other than i said earlier. Thanks in advance, Tomek |

No. But you can customise the logging system to output everything in a file (or develop your own formatter to display the output -- see doc for Java log API). the code above will produce the event +idone(...) before the .wait below. When the .wait runs the event is already lost. I guess the solution with .send worked by chance, it is not guaranteed that .wait will run before the arrival of the message.
>         .wait("+idone(listo, Z)");
prefer the new syntax:
	.wait({+idone(listo,Z});
so that the compiler can check the syntax of the argument.

Hi there..
I have an issue on Jason 1.3.2 with the .wait primitive.
I have one agent with the next plan...
(the plans and the agent are just for probing...)
/* Initial goals */
!start.
/* Plans */
+!start: true <-
    for (.member(Xi,["hola", "hello", "bonjour", "hi"])){
        !getData(Xi, Algo);
        .wait("+idone(listo, Z)");
    }
    .print(Z);
    -idone(_,_).
+!getData(X, Algo): true <-
    .print("getData recibio: ", X);
    .concat ( "getData te envia lo que llego: ", X, M);
    +idone(listo, M).
For some reason, the event +idone never triggers .wait primitive and the
agent get into a cycle.
What could it be happening???
Tnx in advance...
For the record, the way i solve this issue is with a .send(self, tell,
idone(listo, M)

Put the SAXBuilder jar and all jars in a folder named lib under your project directory. That would help.. Or use the classpath directive in the project masj file... 2010/6/16 Jomi Fred Hubner <jo...@da...> > Hi Anselmi, > > you find in the FAQ some clues about classpath: > http://jason.sourceforge.net/faq/faq.html#SECTION00054000000000000000 > > If none of them helps you, please contact us again. > > HTH, > > Jomi > > On 16/06/2010, at 14:55, Anselmi Biagio wrote: > > > Hi, i must read in my Eclipse project a xml file, I have include in > project's classpath library jdom, but when i run my project the MAS console > give this error : > > > > Exception in thread "nica" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: > org/jdom/input/SAXBuilder > > at prove.FrameSettaggi.execute(FrameSettaggi.java:146) > > at > jason.asSemantics.TransitionSystem.applyExecInt(TransitionSystem.java:501) > > at > jason.asSemantics.TransitionSystem.applySemanticRule(TransitionSystem.java:150) > > at > jason.asSemantics.TransitionSystem.reasoningCycle(TransitionSystem.java:1021) > > at > jason.infra.centralised.CentralisedAgArch.run(CentralisedAgArch.java:197) > > at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) > > Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jdom.input.SAXBuilder > > at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) > > at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) > > at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) > > at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) > > at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) > > at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:248) > > ... 6 more > > > > why? > > > > Thanks for reply. > > > > > > -- > Jomi Fred Hubner > Federal University of Santa Catarina > Department of Automation and Systems Engineering > PO Box 476, Florianópolis, SC > 88040-900 Brazil > http://www.das.ufsc.br/~jomi <http://www.das.ufsc.br/%7Ejomi> > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > ThinkGeek and WIRED's GeekDad team up for the Ultimate > GeekDad Father's Day Giveaway. Hi Anselmi, you find in the FAQ some clues about classpath: http://jason.sourceforge.net/faq/faq.html#SECTION00054000000000000000 If none of them helps you, please contact us again. Hi Pooja, the trust relations are not supported directly on Jason, you have to develop your own strategy. As an example, you can take a look at Jomi Fred Hübner, Emiliano Lorini, Laurent Vercouter, and Andreas Herzig. From cognitive trust theories to computational trust. In Rino Falcone, Suzanne Barber, Jordi Sabater-Mir, and Munindar Singh, editors, Proc. of Workshop On Trust in Agent Societies (Trust@AAMAS09), pages 55-67, 2009.
