Lovely Turquoise!

I am in, I am in!  For the first time in my life, my color style is in!

I was reading Rhoda’s blog Southern Hospitality a bit ago, and turquoise is the new IT color.  Of course the only place I have it is in my bedroom and bath, but hey, I’m still ‘IN’, LOL.

Now..how is THAT for style???  Of course, we still need to put some nice paint on the walls, but I was just shocked that a color I like is IN..

Have a great day..I am tossing and shredding today..

Pink Satur-Day After Christmas

Well, I almost FORGOT to do my Pink Saturday post.  When I literally crawled into bed late last night, I remembered that it was Friday night..Ooops.  With having the adult kids for Christmas, and dealing with my folks 59th Anniversary and Christmas, and our POWER going out last night..no post until now.

Many thanks to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for, as always, being a gracious hostess for our posts..

Not much pink going on so I think I will just post some fave pictures from this week.  My mom and dad celebrated their 59th anniversary on Christmas eve, and as they were celebrating, just the two of them, at a local Brazilian restaurant, as they were getting ready to pay the bill, their waiter told them that it had been anonymously paid for.  Of course, their first thought it must have been me, my sister or my brother. But no, an anonymous benefactor right there in the restaurant.  The folks were so shocked and surprised and I told them now it was their turn to pay it forward..So I hope they do..

Aren’t they cute??

Merry Christmas!

pink panther christmas

Merry Christmas to all in my blog world!  By the time we post next Saturday, the big day will be but a memory..

Thanks again to the wonderful Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for hosting our fab Pink Saturdays…for more info on Pink Saturday and the meaning thereof, click HERE.  There are always lots of lovely bloggers and sometimes you will even find a great giveaway.  Hey if you don’t look, you won’t know!

Our theme for today is our favorite holiday tradition.  As the boys were growing up, I honestly don’t think we did the same thing twice.  A Normal Rockwell type family we are not…every year was a bit different, like the year we took off, gifts and all, and spent Christmas in Laughlin, NV.  The boys were teenagers and we felt the need to get away..so we did.  They do still talk about that one!  Other than that, we did the regular stuff..

I think MY biggest tradition is a funny one.  Mailing out Christmas cards late is my tradition.  It falls on no one else but me in this household, so for some reason it’s one of the last things that gets done.  Some years it doesn’t get done.  I am awful about it, I hate that this particular thing is my claim to fame.  But hey, calling it a ‘tradition’ somehow helps!

Hope I put a smile on your face!  Now, every week we are asked to introduce you to a blogger who is new to us.  I found Jacquelin when I participated last month in a Christmas ornament exchange..She is a mom of FIVE daughters and married to a Navy man..check out her blog at A Stable Beginning and wish her a Merry Christmas!

Have a blessed Christmas with friends and family, our son and daughter in law who live near Sacramento are making the 8 hour drive south to see us early Christmas morning and will be with us for a couple days, that and having our older son who lives in the area with us at Christmas means more than almost anything..and to have parents, a brother and nieces and nephews, and not to mention our life long friends close by once again, truly a blessing to us.  What’s not to feel blessed about?!

I am posting a couple pictures of our decorations this year..most are still boxed up but I dug out some favorites!

Surgery – eek!

Just a quick note to let ya’ll know that my hubby Carl is having rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder tomorrow morning (Thursday).  We have to go very early to the hospital as surgery is at 7:30 a.m.  seeing as how it’s outpatient we should be home by the afternoon.

He had the right shoulder operated on in 2004 so we know pretty much what to expect…his surgeon is excellent, same one as in 2004 and Dr. O’Connell also did my rotator cuff surgery that same year.  He is an expert in shoulders, a shoulder man as we like to say!  Carl can expect to be in a sling for about 8 weeks so whatever honey doo projects are not done now will not get done until spring!  But the Christmas tree is up and decorated, the lights and decor outside looking very Christmas-y, so we are good.

Anyway, prayers and good wishes for a successful surgery and an easy recovery for my wonderful husband..I will post in a day or so and let ya’ll know how he is managing!

Pink Saturday and some of my favorite things…

Well gosh less than 2 weeks now to Christmas Day and we are just now starting our decorating. This is mainly due to the fact that we were gone from home for over 2 weeks and got a leeeetle bit behind..Carl got the tree up just a while ago, after a first try this morning..I tell you what happens when you have a heavy tree and a not sturdy enough stand.  On the other hand will keep the gory details to myself.  We ended up heading to Home Depot to get a sturdier stand..Now the tree is standing straight and tall, and the lights are on.  So far this is the extent of our decorating.  Tomorrow my job is to go through the boxes and perform a magic act turning Casa Boyack into the Griswold’s from the movie ‘Christmas Vacation’!

While we were on our vacation home from Illinois, we stopped at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Amarillo, Texas for our dinner..and of course I had to shop..We don’t have Cracker Barrel in California so I tend to go nuts when I get to one.  They had such beautiful Christmas displays, and I bought a couple of new ornaments for our tree..100_4652

Pictures don’t do them justice, they are so sparkly and rich looking.  I am thinking I will post pictures of some of my favorite decorations tomorrow as I unpack them.  Especially my 1920’s nativity set that was my nana’s..be sure to come back and check!

My “Dream House”

Of course, now I am being silly..  But I saw this home online on this website Hooked on Houses.

This particular home is in Chapel Hill, South Carolina, but I saw it and wow my heart be still.  Just sayin’.  If I had unlimited funds and could live anywhere, this would be IT.  Doesn’t it remind you of the house in the movie ‘Father of the Bride’???

Enjoy!

PS the ONLY thing I would change is replace the dark cabinets in the kitchen with white cabinets.  Just a easy fix, haha…
