A Pink and Sandy Saturday

Hey Pinkies!  For this last Saturday in July, the Dog Days of Summer, and being that I live in the desert southwest, I dream of the beach…Pink beaches..ahh..the sand between my toes and the clear cool water lapping at my feet…ahh..come along with me!

  

All we need now is a hammock, a bit of shade, a cute sun hat and a tall, cool drink!  Well it was fun to dream for a bit wasn’t it?

Thursday Thunks

Today’s questions are courtesy of Berleen, Kimber & Bud at Thursday Thunks.  The point is to answer several questions of the day, then link up and visit the other bloggers.  It’s a fun way to get to know each other! It’s also a good way to blog when you run out of ideas!  I know, but it DOES happen!  Check it out!

1. We know how creative Berleen is with her terrific tee-shirts and such, so how about you? Do you draw anything or perhaps your name in the sand when you go to the beach?  Ah…not very creative at all, but if I were at the beach I would probably draw my hubs and mine initials in the sand.  Probably.  I don’t do the beach.
2. Kimber doesn’t always leave her house. I wonder if she knows what is out her back door. What is out your back door?  Right now I see, in the dusk, my hubs and three dogs..I also see dirt.  No sod, just dirt.  For now.

 
3. Do you prefer the beach, a pool or a lake? Why?  Oh hands down, a POOL.

4. What is something recently that happened to you that you are REALLY excited about?  I received a beautiful apron and goodies from a sweet gal in an apron swap.

5. I am fortunate that I come from a very close family. Are any of your great-grandparents still alive? If not did you ever meet them?  My paternal great grandparents passed away when i was little, but I do barely remember them..My maternal great grandparents passed away many years before I was born..

6. When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group? Tell us about it.  Gosh must have been when I worked at a high school in the counseling office and was hosting a conference.  Long time ago, maybe 10 years!
7. Have you ever bungee jumped? Would you ever bungee jump? No, and No!
8. How strong emotionally do you think you are?  Not very..being honest here.
9. Kimber and Berleen still have NEVER met, yet they are best friends. What is the first thing you notice about people when you meet them?  I would guess their eyes.  You can tell a lot about someone from their eyes.
10. Who do you mess with the most?  My husband, we give each other a really bad time sometimes.  We are each others best friends after nearly 34 years of marriage!
11. Who was the last person you talked to on a landline?  My mom

12. I finally saw Avatar this week. What was the last movie you watched long after it came out and loved?  Oh I don’t remember..we don’t do movies very often.
13. What did you dream about last night?  I don’t usually remember my dreams, I have no clue!

 

Look What I Won!

The DogmomDiva heads East, Part Three

Atlantic City was a lot of fun..we had a really nice room at the Trump Taj Mahal hotel, Shelly happened to get a comp room and I think with tax it was like $20 for the night.  What a deal is that!  Like I said, we were all traveling on a tight shoestring so saving money was a very good thing.
I enjoyed the hotel and walking down the boardwalk..Great for people watching which I love to do..restaurants, souvenir shops, pizza joints, arcades, casinos..right next to the Atlantic Ocean.  Very cool.  It was unbearable hot, however, most of the trip.  I live in the desert, we don’t normally have much humidity, so it just about knocked me out..but I kept going best I could..thank goodness I was in a ‘good’ cycle and not in too much pain for the most of the trip…I did pretty much ‘drop’ the last day before flying home..I knew it was going to ‘hit’ me, and it did.  But I was determined to have fun and do the best I could…here are some pictures of our Atlantic City overnight

These are pictures of the New Jersey Korean War Memorial. 
I loved Atlantic City, so much history there..One thing I love about the East Coast is that so many buildings and homes are so old.  Most homes and buildings on the west coast are under 100 years old..love the history and beauty of the older buildings!
After our overnight in A.C., (which none of us came up lucky at all but who figured we would, not us!) we headed back to Anne’s home..the next day was Saturday and we needed to rest up for our trip back to Pittsburgh with a stop in Lancaster County, PA, home of the Amish community.  Rest up, girls!

Pink Saturday July 24, 2010

After an absence last week due to a great vacation, I am back with some fun pinks!  My ‘brilliant’ theme this week is Alice in Wonderland.  I am participating in an online apron swap with the Alice theme, and have been looking for fun fabrics and thought, why not carry my search into my Pink Saturday blog?  So I did.

The DogmomDiva heads East, part Deux

Shelly and I headed east driving to New Jersey early the morning of the 14th..I don’t know how many miles it was, but it took about 7 hours..with a couple stops at Starbucks and TOLL BOOTHS.  The toll for the Pennsylvania Turnpike for the distance we went was $23.00.  We about passed out!  Yikes!  Watson was a good boy but he kept asking:
It was a beautiful drive and interstate, however, with lots of hills and valleys.  And very, very green!
 

We got to Anne’s home in time to pick her twins up from their summer school class..
 
The kids were so happy to see Watson and to meet us, of course..We are their new “Aunties”.  Anne and her hubs have done a great job with them, so polite and loving, too!
We headed up the road a bit to a place we have been waiting to go to called the German Butcher in Lacey Township, NJ.  Our friend Judi who used to live there has told us over and over about G.B. so of course that was our first stop!
   
We bought some delicious chicken salad and rolls to take back to Anne’s for dinner..and it was goooood!

We then headed north to shi shi Colts Neck NJ..where the rich and famous live..I tell you we got out of the car at Delicious Orchards and you could smell the money, lol!  Another divine stop
 
We then headed back to Anne’s home in the pouring rain, it seemed like the traffic in NJ was always on the other side of the road, guess we were lucky..there was a ton of traffic most of the time.

We turned in fairly early that night as we were heading for a girl’s trip to Atlantic City the next day…it was so great to meet both these gals in person..they were just as great or better than I imagined!
