Death metal band Killengod was formed on the Gold Coast in the early 90s. The founding members were Errol Nyp on vocals/guitar, Drexler Roberts on bass and Jonothan Dao on drums. Killengod made two albums of vehemently anti-religious metal that mixed black and death to good effect, 'Transcendual Consciousness' (1995) and 'Into the Ancient Moon' (1998). Musically similar to Deicide with a formidable three-way black metal vocal attack and with the lyrical maturity of Morbid Angel, Killengod was a band that deserved much wider acclaim. The band supported Fear Factory in Australia. They disbanded in 1999.
