The Sect was originally formed in Queensland in 1966 under the name The In Sect with Rodney Harris and Tyrone Sakrzewski on guitars, vocalist Carle King, Robin Muirhead on bass and Paul Doo on drums. Later on, the band featured John Brownrigg (ex-The Feelgoods) and Peter Moscos later of Moscos and Stone fame. ''Lonely Road'' penned by Moscos was their debut single followed by ''St.John's Wood (written by Doug Ford and Jim Keays) and were both released on the Columbia imprint. The band supported The Four Tops on their tour of Australia. They broke up in 1970. Peter Moscos died in 2003 of cancer in Sydney. John Brownrigg died in 2025.
