three months!

Mckenna is officially three months today! I can't believe how fast the time has gone and how big she is getting. To celebrate, she slept in her very own room (we had her in a pack n' play in our room previously) and let's just say it was sort of a rough night. I was worried because I didn't have her right next to me, so that kept me up, and she was pretty congested so she woke up about every 2 hours. At 4:00 I finally thought I had gotten her to sleep so I was about to put her back down and she had a major blowout. She woke back up when I changed her, and then about 5 minutes later another big blowout. So needless to say, between 4 and 5 lastnight I fed her twice, changed her diaper 3 times, went through two nightgowns and onesies, and sucked a whole lot of mucus (just in case Mom is reading this) out of her nose. I thought it was kind of funny.
Last week we went to get her pictures taken. Here are a few that I thought were pretty cute, even though she's not smiling in ANY of them. Little stinker. That was another adventure, but I'll save you on the details.

Happy Birthday, Jason!

I am finally getting around to posting these pictures up! Things have been a little crazy around here but I didn't want to leave out this very special event from our blog.

Jason turned 27 last Wednesday (May 21st) and we celebrated by going out to lunch with his Mom who was here babysitting his brother's kids, with Macaroni Grill for dinner, and then cake and ice cream later that night. We have been passing a nasty cold back and forth to each other, so he wasn't feeling the greatest, but he still had a smile on his face and seemed to have a great day. Jason woke up to a dozen doughnuts, along with a couple of presents to start the day off. I went to the store early that morning to buy the breakfast and in the meantime Mckenna woke up! I felt really bad that Jason had to get up extra early on his birthday but I guess Mckenna didn't want to miss out on the party.
Dinner at the Macaroni Grill. This is one of Jason's favorite restaurants because he is in love with PINE NUTS and this is one of the few places that adds them to their dishes.
27 candles! Wow, that's alot.
After our friends left and the American Idol Finale was over, Jason opened up the rest of his presents. Happy Birthday, honey!

Food storage

Monday night we got together with our friends and canned all of our food storage. It was actually pretty fun, but it turned out to be a lot more than we expected, which is great, but now we don't know where to put it. We already have three shelves that are full upstairs of wheat and cereal, no pantry, and no garage - so for now it's sitting on our kitchen table! Our Relief Society has done a great job of trying to get every family in our ward prepared with at least 3 months of regular food storage and a year's supply of long term storage. Here are some great links that they have sent out if anybody needs help on getting started.

Simple tips on how to get started - this is a great website.

This is a GREAT recipe book which shows you how to implement your food storage into everyday recipes. My Mom and sister have loved it, and I have tried a few of the recipes in here and they are delicious!

Family Home Storage

"We encourage Church members worldwide to prepare for adversity in life by having a basic supply of food and water and some money in savings.
"We ask that you be wise as you store food and water and build your savings. Do not go to extremes; it is not prudent, for example, to go into debt to establish your food storage all at once. With careful planning, you can, over time, establish a home storage supply and a financial reserve."—The First Presidency, All Is Safely Gathered In: Family Home Storage, Feb. 2007, 1

Random pictures

I havn't posted for a while, but have a ton of pictures of Mckenna. Here are a few with little captions about our recent "adventures".
Mckenna is smiling so much now (when she's not focused on a recent "discovery" i.e. hands, toes) or hungry or tired. :) Our little nerd! :) Mckenna hasn't quite grown into her NEWBORN pants yet so when she wears them they come up kind of high. Jason put my glasses on her to give her the Erkel effect.
David Archuletta's littlest fan! We all watched the finale lastnight and were a little disappointed that Cook won. Oh well. Mckenna was just content sitting on the couch, though, staring at the T.V. while we were eating cake and ice cream with our friends. More smiles
Hi Mom
Getting ready to go out shopping! I've trained Mckenna early that this is her favorite thing to do.
More outings - Mckenna went to her first Youth Conference this past weekend and was a real trooper as she was being passed around by all the Young Women. It was really warm and sunny out I put a hat on her to keep the sun out of her eyes. It swarmed on her of course but she looked so cute!

Daddy Time

Jason was reading books to Mckenna lastnight and she was listening so intently, and trying to talk back with her little coos. He read her "Perfect Pets" and "Feely Bugs", which she seemed to like, and then he read her "The Story of Jesus". When he read that she got so excited and was kicking her legs, and smiling, and cooing like crazy. We think they're pretty good friends. :)

Family

I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family who is so loving and supportive. Mckenna is so lucky to have such loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and I don't know what we would do without them. We missed those who couldn't attend but we know that we were in their thoughts and prayers, as they were in ours.

Aunt Kerri - who is moving down here at the end of August to attend BYU! We are so excited to have her down here - we always tell her how she is going to be the best babysitter. :)
Aunt Kristine and Cousin Brooklyn! We just love them so much!Grandma Anderson (that still sounds so weird to say that) who I depend on and love so much!

Mom and Dad have been so supportive and have literally made about 6 trips down to Utah within the past two months. Not only have they travelled here, but they have also been to Aruba and Wasington D.C. for Dad's work, all while they are trying to sell their house. We are so grateful for all they do and are so happy they came down. Thanks Mom and Dad!
I was unable to get a picture of Mckenna with Nicholas and Courtney because she was having a spaz attack, but we loved having them there. (They are the two on the far right) Also Michael, my oldest brother, who gave a beautiful blessing to Brooklyn earlier and is a great example to all of us.
Rob and Rosanna were so nice to come with their three kids. They are always so supportive of us and I know Jason appreciated them being there as the rest of his family was unable to attend because they live so far away - but we were thinking of them and are excited to see them soon.
Grandpa time! Dad had the special touch with Mckenna (at least during sacrament meeting) and is so cute with her. Like I said, both Jason and I are so lucky to have such wonderful parents who love Mckenna and are such great examples. Mckenna was not a fan of the bright sun, but it sure was a beautiful day!

Other friends and family who attended the blessing:

*Jonathan and Collette
*Jennifer and David
*Chris and Erin
*Sharon

Best Buds

As I have mentioned before, Brooklyn was born exactly 4 weeks after Mckenna and we couldn't have been more thrilled for them to be cousins that were so close. Once they were both blessed, we put them down on a blanket and went crazy taking pictures of them both because they were soo cute! Kristine made the poses more interesting by putting them on top of each other and laying their heads on one another (as Braden was lurking in the background). It was to die for!

Is this not the cutest picture?! HUH?
Holding hands just like best friends :)
Another one of my favorites - they just look so content with each other.

On the way to the movies! Saturday Mom, Kristine, Courtney and I went to go see the movie "Emma" while the boys stayed home and watched the rest of the kids. We hauled Mckenna and Brooklyn along. Brooklyn was an angel and slept through the whole thing, and although Mckenna wasn't bad she was wide awake and would not fall asleep. I guess she didn't want to miss out on the action.

Mckenna Emily Williams

We blessed Mckenna Emily on May 4th - which was an absoutely gorgeous day! We were so grateful for all of our family and friends who attended, and had such a good time with everyone. Jason gave Mckenna a beautiful blessing, even without a microphone, and Mckenna didn't make a sound (although her eyes were wide open and staring at Jason the whole time) It was just a fun day filled with lots of fun and special memories. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather!

Mckenna fell asleep on Grandpa after she was blessed and folder her hands just like a little lady. (Yes I took a picture in the chapel but I couldn't resist!)
Mckenna's beautiful dress!
My sweet angel! :)
Timing on this worked out perfect, and because Mom and Dad were in town Brooklyn was blessed the same day. It was so fun to share this day with the two of them - both dressed in white!
This was after everyone had left, Mckenna was stripped out of her dress, and she fell so peacefully asleep on Jason. It was kind of a long day for everyone, but Mckenna was thrown out of her normal routine and I don't think she liked it very much. She was a good sport, though.
