I can't believe how fast this first year has flown by! It's a bittersweet moment for me because I love watching Mckenna grow up and learn new things, but I miss her as my baby. I get nostalgic thinking of all that was going on a year ago, but am so grateful for all the wonderful memories that we have made so far and for the addition she has made to our family.
On Saturday, we had a little party for her, and although she didn't really have any idea it was her birthday, it was fun to watch her interact with everything that was happening.

Saturday morning, Jason helped put up some decorations while I made some things in the kitchen. He blew up the balloons and put up the streamers and signs in the living room and kitchen. He did a great job and definitely made things more festive. Mckenna loved the balloons more than anything else and would bite them, lay on them, and bury her face in them. It was so funny to watch, I was just waiting for one to pop in her face, but luckily they were pretty sturdy.

I just thought she looked so cute while she was sleeping. She fell asleep while we were running errands that afternoon - storing energy for her upcoming party.

Loving her presents

We had a housefull, and although it got kind of crazy, we loved it and Mckenna loved it. Uncle Nicholas was playing peek a boo with a plate and Mckenna thought it was hilarious.

Mckenna's 1st Birthday Cake! I know it's not anything special - this is actually the first round cake I've made, so I was proud that even turned out. I guess I have a lot more birthdays to practice.

So funny - she loved Nicholas

Opening up presents

She got "Minnie" and "Penny" from the Disney store and she LOVES them - they were perfect for church and kept her quiet for a long time.

After we opened presents we had cake. Mckenna was mesmerized by the candle and wasn't able to blow it out, but we had plenty of helpers.

We gave her a cupcake and piece of cake and she made a lovely mess!

She looks stuffed, and very content.

Kristine came down with her kids later on and we were so glad she did. It was great to get Brooklyn and Mckenna reunited as they shared (fought sometimes) over the toys.

Picture with the cousins! Rob and Rosanna came over as well and brought their boys, so it was one merry party. Mckenna loved it and was giving hugs to Jonathan and Braden.

Mckenna got so many fun presents that she loves, but she seemed to love the balloons more than anything.
Mckenna and her loot - what a wonderful 1st birthday it was. We love you, Mckenna and are so grateful you came into our lives one year ago.
