Milwaukee!

One thing that made it easier to move out to Illinois was knowing that my sister was within driving distance! One of the first weekends that were free, I took the girls and drove 8 HOURS (thought it was 6) to Milwaukee. I thought it would be a fun adventure, just the girls and I, but when we got stuck in Chicago traffic and both girls were screaming I thought I made a big mistake. We got there, thank goodness and had a great weekend. I was so glad I went. Now I can picture Kelsey in her cute little apartment and I can say I've been to Milwaukee. It was a quick trip, but made lots of good memories. I loved just being able to hang out and talk with Kelsey. Such a fun weekend! The Milwaukee Zoo - these lions were crazy, they were pacing back and forth looking at everyone like they were going to eat us all.
Sunday was a perfect day. The weather was amazing. We went to church, went for a drive while the girls slept, and then Kels made an amazing dinner. We went for a walk to a park by her house and let the kids play.

Mckenna loved Aunt Kelsey and Madison snuggled up to Uncle Dave.

So glad we went! Thanks Dave and Kelsey for the great time!

DuQuoin State Fair

One of the very first weekends we were in Illinois, we went to the DuQuoin State Fair. It was huge and we only were able to cover one portion of it - the kids rides, of course - but Mckenna went nuts! It was a VERY hot day, close to 100 and high humidity, but it was a good way to get a taste of Southern Illinois.

The Move

I really wish I would have taken more pictures of our last few days in Utah, and our 2 day drive out to Illinois. Things got so crazy and I wasn’t really thinking about taking pictures, but we had quite the adventure getting everything to fit in the truck with our allotted space and then traveling with the girls to Carbondale. I finally convinced Jason that driving his truck 1500 miles across the country really wasn’t a good idea, so he put it up for sale and sold it the next day. Mckenna and Madison were really good living amidst chaos and then being strapped in the car for two days. It was bittersweet when we arrived to Carbondale – so glad to not have to travel anymore but nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time what these next three years would be like. So far so good. Jason is doing great in school and we’ve made a lot of great friends. It’s been a time of growth and learning, but we have been so blessed and are grateful that we are here.

Kind of a random picture, but we were packing everything up, I was really stressed about something and I heard Mckenna and Madison in the next room laughing. Madison had scooted under the crib with Mckenna and they were cracking up. It was just what I needed to get me through the day. (Look at those legs, Madison!)DSC_1006
