May 2009

May was such a great month full of lots of fun and excitement. We finally got all moved in and were ready to have company! Kelsey and Melissa flew in from Milwaukee and Texas and then Mom and Dad came down with Kerri from Montana. It was so good to be with all of my sisters again and as always, we had a great time. A great picture on a beautiful spring day - Melissa was our photographer.

This was the first time meeting our little cousin and nephew, Landon. He was so cute and we all just adored him - and we love Aunt Kelsey!

I love this picture Melissa took. When she sent it to me she sent it with a caption that said, "Hey, don't I know you from somewhere?" They were so cute together and were both about the same size, even though Mckenna is a year older. She's actually wearing one of Landon's outfits because while we were shopping she spilled a whole water bottle on her and I didn't have any extra outfits. We thought she looked pretty good in blue, though! :)
After eating Mckenna's favorite meal - spaghetti or "lulu" (noodles).

Another great picture with Aunt Kelsey! We were so happy to have her come visit us.

Eating at our all time favorite spot, "Zupas". YUM!
Finally a picture with all of us together!

Jason's 28th Birthday!!
My family was here to celebrate Jason's birthday with us and we had a great day. We woke up and got french toast from Kneader's, Jason went golfing with my Dad and Dave, and then went to work in the afternoon. But the party didn't end there!

We had a BBQ at our house with most of my family and Jason's brother and his family. Grilling up some yummy burgers.

We had quite the house full but loved having everyone come over, and the room to accomodate everyone!

Blowing out 28 candles! Wow!

Mckenna enjoying some cake with Aunt Kerri.

It was kind of a crazy day but it was so fun to celebrate another birthday with Jason. He is my very best friend and I truly don't know what I would do without him. Thanks for being born, honey! :)

The Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House

Jason's company did some work on the temple so we were able to get a special VIP tour! It was great to go there with my family, too. Mckenna and Jason had fun taking some pictures outside.

"I Love to See the Temple" - Mckenna's face in this picture is hilarious. She makes a pirate face anytime it's bright out, but it turns out more like a scowl.

With my sisters and Mom - I love them!

The Bees GameThis was our last "hoorah" for May. We have kind of made this a yearly tradition and go right around Jason's and Michael's birthday since they are both in May.

Mckenna wasn't quite sure what to think of the Bee mascot. It was a great ball game and a fun way to kick off the summer!

April Conference, Miscellaneous, Catching Up

I know that it has been a long time since I've posted anything - there have been so many things that have been going I am not even going to try to cover everything but just the main events.
We actually moved about a month ago and have been loving it, things have just been kind of crazy with the move and getting things packed and unpacked. I am finally feeling like we have everything somewhat organized and am getting back to other things I need to get done - hence the blog update. :)
We've had quite a few doctor appointments with Mckenna as well. We had her 12 month check up a couple of months ago and she was still 15 lbs. She hadn't gained anything so the doctor told me to add fat to everything she eats, try and pack in the calories and come back in a month. We did that and still nothing had happened. He referred me to a gastroenterologist up in Salt Lake and that was another huge hassle trying to get that because no one could see her until August. I am the type of person that needs to get things taken care of right away, especially when it comes to medical issues so I don't worry. I called around every gastroenterologist in Utah and they were all booked. I even considered going somewhere else, but luckily there was a cancellation and I was able to see someone at the beginning of May. If any of you are going into medical school, pediatric gastroenterologist seems like a hot thing here!
We went and saw the doctor and went over her whole history, ruled out all of the possibilities of having some type of disease and came to the conclusion she had a poor appetite. She is now on an appetite stimulant and has been eating much better. I am anxious to see where she is at when we go to her appointment in a couple of weeks.
We also went back to her opthamologist for her eye and are probably going to have surgery in June. There is a new procedure out that the doctor is researching so we are going to see him in the beginning of June and probably schedule the surgery. (She has a problem with her right ligament in her eye - it's called "Brown Syndrome" and surgery is the only way to fix it.)
That is a brief update on what's been going on. Mckenna is saying a few words now and just started walking a couple of weeks ago. She says "ball", "baby", "daddy", "Jesus", "uh-oh", "bye", "hello", "juice", and a few others that I havn't figured out yet. She still hasn't said "Mom", I'm hoping that will come but am enjoying this stage AND she is finally sleeping through the night. YEAH! She is much more busy than she used to be but is so funny and keeps us laughing everyday. There are random pictures posted here, I have more to do but figured this would be good enough for tonight. I have promised myself not to get this far behind again because it's a pain trying to catch up.
Mckenna LOVES going to the park. This was right by our house in Provo and she would wait by the door and cry until I went outside with her.
Being silly with Dad!

April Conference

We were able to meet up with some of my family again for Conference - this has been a long standing tradition which is something I always look forward to, not only for the inspiring messages but for being able to get together with everyone. It seems like every year is a little different as far as who is able to make it. Kelsey flew in from Milwaukee and we were hoping Melissa was going to be able to come but things were crazy with her her husband's school so she arranged to come out in May.
This was after the Priesthood session when we met up with the guys. Since everything is being reconstructed downtown we hung out in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where they have their ladies night at Deseret Book. I tried to leave Mckenna at Kristine's house with a babysitter but she kind of blew up so I had to run out and get her, which made it kind of a crazy night but we still had a lot of fun shopping and hanging out.
Just the girls!

Jason and I were able to go to the Saturday morning session in the Conference center. It was so good to be there in person and to listen to it with Jason. There were some great talks and it was nice to hear them without having to worry about Mckenna in the background - thanks Mom and Kerri!

Brianna and Kaitlyn loved Mckenna and she loved them. It's so fun when we're able to get together with all the cousins and to see how cute they are with each other.

One of Mckenna's favorite things to do - "talk" on the phone. Everytime she sees something that looks even close to a phone she puts it up to her ear and says "ello".

We went down to the pool one night and went swimming with everybody and Mckenna was a little water baby!
Mckenna with her cousins - Kaitlyn, Dallin, Braden, and Joanne.

One afternoon while I was trying to make dinner and get other things done it seemed like Mckenna was into everything! I was making some salsa and here she grabbed this lime and shoved it in her mouth.

Then she tried to climb into the fridge - she loves getting into drawers and taking everything out of them.
Then this topped it all off. I forgot to close the pantry door and Mckenna climbed up on the stool and got on the shelf. There were a bag of M&M's on the third shelf and she reached up around and grabbed them, and popped them in her mouth, as you can see by her full cheeks.
Trying on Daddy's shoes - she loves trying to put our shoes on but gets so frustrated when she can't walk in them. It's hilarious!

Pretty blue eyes and WILD hair! I don't know what to do with it right now because she has a big mop on the top. Everytime I put something in, she usually rips it out then it looks even funnier because she gets a mohawk and I think it gets to her attitude making her more crazy.
