For the first time in my adult life, I have planted things in the ground. Growing up, the only time I ever worked in the yard was when I was grounded or in serious trouble, which has always given me an aversion to gardening. The boys begged me to plant pumpkins this year and since I have a deep love in my heart for fresh tomatoes, we decided to give it a whirl!
I had no idea how much I would love it. I am seriously unhealthily attached to my plants. I have a hard time going out of town and leaving them for someone else to water them. I go out each morning and night to check on my little dears. They feel like my own children. I know, I am ridiculous. I even made a garden diagram.
Here are some cute pics of our sweet little garden:
Keith literally listens to the gardening channel on the radio sometimes. Plus he has done all sorts of farming and yard work for his mom, so he was our expert!
It was a fun little family night activity.
Leo was soaking wet within minutes of our project, so he played white trash baby the rest of the night. And begged me to open the tennis balls until I conceded.
This kid loves to suck on ice and he loved playing in the dirt. I had to vacuum his crib the next day because there was so much dirt in it. What is it about babies just in diapers that is so adorable?
The church owns a farm that is our front yard basically. It is so beautiful. The first several feet is a small hill that has weeds on it, so we decided to plant our pumpkins there.
Where's white trash baby? Benson and Griffin worship their dad. We seriously live in the prettiest place.
The boys were so excited to hop the fence and help dad.
We planted zucchini, squash, chives, garlic, cantaloupe, lots and lots of tomatoes, peas, beans, cucumbers, and pumpkins. Our zucchini and squash have cute little buds on them, along with the chives. Our tomatoes are growing taller and have flowers on them. The pumpkins have sprouted, along with the beans and peas. So far we have nothing from the cucumber or cantaloupe, so I guess we will see if they survive or not. And I read you aren't supposed to plant garlic until August! Woops. Why would the nursery sell it in May then? Jerks!
We also planted flowers and they are still alive! Stay tuned to see if we actually manage to produce anything! P.S. Did I seriously just blog about gardening? I am awesome.
