American Idol 9 Top 24 Contestants [ photo from AI website ] It's on! Actually, it's been on for a few weeks but the real competition for the American Idol Season 9 started yesterday. The top 24 - 12 women & 12 men - will be singing live. It was the girls turn yesterday while it's the boys turn tonight. And tomorrow...the verdict. Yep, the public will be sending 4 of the contestants packing...2 women & 2 men. So? Have you been watching? I have....sort of. As usual, the hubby is the one watching it. I'm just listening in...and catching bits and pieces of the show.

And the new season hasn't even aired yet.... First it was Paula Abdul quitting the show and now...a [more] famous celebrity will replace her. Hmmmm....I wonder how Paula feels about her replacement?? I read about it yesterday but waited until there's some kind of a confirmation....yep, Ellen De Generes is now an American Idol judge . Reactions ? Comments ? Lots of it actually. When Paula Abdul abruptly left the program, there was a lot of negative reaction about it. She was one of the original judges so that's understandable, I guess. But personally, it was getting more and more painful to watch her as the years went by. She helped the show go where it is now but sometimes people grow....and maybe, I just did. Anyway, Ellen is funny. I'm sure her presence will provide a much needed comic relief if anything. I don't 'really' watch AI anymore. I still check it out once in a while but I may just try to watch it more this coming season to see how Ellen will fa...

Yes, a certain paper in Atlanta jumped the gun and erroneously reported that Adam Lambert won the American Idol title for 2009. Hahaha!!! Needless to say the reporter was probably rooting for Adam. Oh well...even Kris was surprised himself. Look at his face when he was named this year's IDOL....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... season of UPSET! At least that's what some TV shows are calling it. In the Tuesday night Finale of Dancing with Stars , many thought that front runner pair Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke will take home the Mirror Ball Trophy. Not quite because Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas snagged it from them. I guess Gilles' fans didn't all rally enough behind him & his partner. Mark & Shawn themselves were caught by surprise but that's what the fans wanted...and so this pair won! How about American Idol ? This is a bigger upset I think. The judges, especially the mighty Simon, openly predicted that Adam Lambert will take home the title but boy was he ever wrong. I guess the Kiss of Curse that David Cook was afraid of getting actually landed on Adam. He was the crowd's favorite for most of the season. But I guess the clean cut, boy next door contestant pulled the biggest surprise of them all...taking the AI title under Adam Lambert...

I thought I'd take a break from blogging about the non-stop rain here [and yes, it's still raining!], and post about this season finale of American Idol . As you probably know already, it's those 2 up top who are probably on the edge of their seats now waiting for the final verdict. So who do you think will be crowned American Idol this year? Adam Lambert or Kris Allen? We'll see tonight! Truth be told, I never really sat down to watch the show in its entirety. It's airing at the same time my favorite show is airing so I have to choose. What show? NCIS of course. The hubby though only missed an episode because I forgot to remind him....tee hee...so I'm still on the loop. I know he's rooting for one of them but he likes both. Me? I don't have a pick actually but if I have to choose, I'd probably go with Kris Allen. His music is more like my kind of music. There! Picture from the American Idol official website

Well, eversince our kabayan Ramiele Malubay said 'buh-bye'. Anyway, my husband still watches it if he's home when it airs. He watched it last night and I watched for a few before jumping in the shower. Good timing because I caught what probably will be one of American Idol's classic moments....blooper edition that is. And what do you know it's done by the 'most unlikely person' in the show. NOT!!!! The remaining 5 contestants were asked to sing 2 songs last night. During the first set of songs, the judges were not asked to comment after each contestant. Instead they were asked to just say something after all 5 were done singing their first song. Unfortunately, her journey in American Idol ended tonight. Her poor choices of songs finally caught up with her so tonight she was voted off the show. Hopefully, her career won't end here. She's got the voice to make it so I am wishing that she gets discovered and make a name for herself with or without American Idol. Goodluck....and more power to you!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes, you read that right. There has been some rumors about some 'photo' scandal involving Fil-Am American Idol Season 7 Top 12 finalist Ramiele Malubay . Hmm.... I've seen one of the pictures and it's not near as scandalous as the headline of the news says: " Ramiele Malubay American Idol Lesbian Photo Scandal". Apparently, the picture was taken with her former co-worker at a sushi bar. They look like they were goofing around, nothing else. What what were they doing? Let's just say the girls' hands were somewhere near Ramiele's chest..the hands may not even be touching her. There's only one reason as to why these [they say there's more than one] photos had been leaked online - she's famous now.And whoever leaked those photos[s] is probably hoping for a 15-minute of fame of her or his own or some greens from those pics. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I posted earlier the four American Idol 7 hopefuls who got the boot last night. So I thought I'd post the 12 that actually made the cut. There are now 6 girls and 6 boys in the group. Starting next week, they will be singing on the same day. The elimination will be the day after and they will be eliminating one contestant at a time from that time on. Yes, we are very proud that our very own, Ramiele Malubay, made the cut. Thanks to those who actually spend the time dialing in and texting in their votes to keep her this far in the competition. One of those who was eliminated last night was Danny Noriega. Now, I am aware the Noriega can either be a Spanish/Latino last name but we also have some Noriega in the Philippines. I have read somewhere, a comment, that he may be of Filipino descent like Ramiele but I have not seen anything else but that one comment. So I would like to ask anyone who knows for real if he is indeed a Kababayan. Why am I asking?...

So I try to follow it online although the husband gets to see it pretty regularly. He just keeps forgetting. He has his favorite already but all I could care about tonight is: RAMIELE MALUBAY made it to the Top 12. Amazing! Anyway, this entry is about the 4 four that got cut off tonight. Here they are.

I read this yesterday but I was kind of busy so I didn't have the chance to write about it. News came out that one of the AI 7 Top 16 Contestants, David Hernandez , used to be....hold your breath Anne...Hehehe....a male stripper. So? Why the fuss about it? Well, it all comes down to the elimination of one AI wannabe years ago - Frenchie[?] Davis - who was unceremoniously dismissed from the competition because she used to do some modeling for underwear ads. I *think* that she had some topless photos that resurfaced after she got famous because of her AI stint. It seems that was then and this is now....

A lot of the ladies were painful to watch so it was hard to predict who among them will be let go. Of course there were people who think that somebody else should have been cut off but hey...they had fans that voted for them. Like what they say always, if you want to see your 'idol' stay in the competition...vote! The good news for us Filipinos is Ramielle Malubay made it again. She's now part of the top 16! ========================================= ... passed the first round of elimination of American Idol Season 7 . Yeah!!! Actually, she had a pretty good chance of staying because she was one of the few who got good reviews/comments from all 3 judges. But we know that the judges can only do so much [we think] at this time. Their vote of confidence to the contestants can sometimes help but there were a few times when it seemed to have hurt the contestant. It's just good to know that Ramiele Malubay is staying for another week.

============================================ Found this picture of Ramiele Malubay at Photo Bucket. It's the same one they have at People.com . I didn't see her sing in the Idol audition and qualifying rounds so I did some searching at You Tube. I think she has the chance but she also has some tough competition. It seems that some of the AI Season 7 Contestants are not fresh talents. One girl - Carly Smithson - had a contract with a major recording company before but the album didn't fare well only selling about 300 copies. Another guy - Robbie Carrico - used to be in a band - Boyz N Girlz Unite! The said band was a front act in one of Britney Spear's concert in 1999. There are a few more but I don't know much about them. Let's just hope that our very own 'Ramiele Malubay' makes it at least to the top 10.

================================ I actually have not seen her sing except for this clip at You Tube when she auditioned. But my hubby was watching when she auditioned for American Idol and made it to Hollywood. Well, tonight she was chosen as one of the Final 24. Another Filipina to make us proud. She's got this really big, powerful voice but we all know that's not what it takes to win this competition. Hopefully she ha the staying power to make it thru like Jasmine Trias. Well, I am now watching the Ellen Show and guess who was mentioned in the show when Ellen talked about the American Idol premiere....yes, Renaldo Lapuz. I guess he's going to be another William Hung . Remember him? He's probably the most famous non-finalist in AI history. Mr. Lapuz may just give him a run for his money now though. They usually have a lot of "unusual" wannabes [sorry for the word] during the AI auditions but they chose Mr. Lapuz to feature in the Ellen show. As expected, he has numerous You Tube videos now. There are 5 pages with 20 frames on each page, I think...about 100 You Tube Videos last time I checked. Oh, based on some of the You Tube I've seen so far, Mr. Lapuz may be a Filipino, yes a kababayan. Maybe I should star thinking about auditioning at AI myself, huh? Who knows, I may end up at the Ellen Show... the Tonight with Jay Leno or maybe even at...
