It was in the late ‘80s when I first heard about the internet. But it was only in the late ‘90’s that I had my direct experience with it and all that went it. At that time, I have not heard of broadband yet since I was only using dial up. I can still remember the first time I used my internet connection. It was overwhelming but exciting at the same time. All of a sudden it seems like I had everything at my fingertips. I can read worldwide news and best of all I could get in touch with friends and family who are all over the world. The only downside of that was I had to get my own phone line so I would not tie up the phone whenever I was online since there were 3 of us in the apartment. That only meant I had to pay 2 phone bills, our regular phone bill and my internet bill. It was quite costly to say the least. It was the same when I first got married.
