Build Report: 30372 Robin's Mini Fortrex

One of the initial polybags that came with the release of the Nexo Knights, the Mini Fortrex is just that, a mini version of the biggest set of the initial wave.

And it came with a fantastic easter egg...

Opening the bag, you get a pile of elements and the instructions leaflet.

Now, meet Robin, owner of the biggest inside joke of the range.  He has a rooster as livery, just like his namesake in Monthy Python and the Holy Grail... and brave sir Robin, he ran away.

The fortrex itself is based on two wheel axle parts connected by a 2x4 plate.

On this, the body is laid down, with a 4x4 plate as it's foundation.  As Robin has the non-bendable short legs, this means his seating area actually accomodates for him standing upright.

A lot of trans orange is going on in this set, something that went on through the whole line.  I love the small pyramid pieces.

A small ramp is added at the front pure for decoration, while the vehicle comes armed with a stud shooter.

And we get some extra pieces

The full set completed:

While nothing spectacular, I did giggle with the inside joke of this polybag set...

The Haul Report # 64

Hello all to another week of hauls and trades for my collection.

And once again, it has been a calm but decent week of gathering and foraging.

I'll start of with this Veers minifigure.  I`m not a SW builder at all, but this one is for something special at Comic Con Brussels next month, so I went to Brick Link and grabbed the figure.

Facebook has been a good provider this week, as I managed to obtain a nice set of polybags from one source, and a Legolas figure from another.  And a third thingie I picked up on the social media channel is a small space set of the K9 robot dog.  I`ll build that one for a picture report (expected publication somewhere second half of 2018) and toss it in my trade box afterwards.

During a clearance at the local supermarket, I picked up "some" polybags of Nexo Knights, good to take along to an event sometime.

Ow, and as a final haul, I picked up the recent Blocks magazine issue ;-)

Now, as this closes off on Friday's, a lot of exclusives that arrived saturday aren`t in this overview yet, but expect next week to be a humongous episode!

Build Report: 70335 Ultimate Lavaria

While I`m not to fond of the Nexo Knights range, this was one of the smaller ones I just HAD to get.

Okay, so the bad guys have more usuable parts for the moc'cer like me, if you tend to build castles and pirate vessels that is, but this set also has one heck of a cool minifigure.

The set contains an instruction sheet, as well as a bag of parts for a not to big build in itself, but full with handy elements in "good" colours.

Sure, her mainbuild has her as a spiderlike creature, but she also comes with "normal" legs making her a fantastic succubus minifigure.

The spider body is also the main thing we build first, based on two round plates the backside is made up first.

Clawed, insect like legs are then attached to the main body section.

The torso, wings and hooded head are then put on top of this, showing a very sinister looking spiderqueen.

She is armed with a doublepointed spear (a glaive) and the Scarab shield.

Next, we start working on the display base of the creature, based on black wedges, which will hold all her possible equipment.

On both sides, based around small red wedges, the various stations for the gear are then made.

The left hand side holds a fireball shooter, with the new crossbow shaped stud shooter and a crate of ammunition.

The right side has the poisonous snakes she can wield around as well.

As all sets, some extra parts are included.

And the full set completed:

Okay, so those ultimate sets are perhaps not that cheap for a non-franchised range, being basically a minifigure with some parts.  But admit, in her own Lego-esque way, she is a sexy figure...

The Haul Report #20

It has been a calm week, as most of the hauls this week have been the result of doing some trading around, and I`m really cutting back on insane shopping sprees.

Never the less, some really good thingies came into my possession...

The first one is this straggler.  This poor officer, which was part of a trade of figures I showed last week, arrived at last on monday after some miscommunications.  Part of a trade with someone I made a trade with to trade him with me, he has been going around some adresses before finding his way at last to Merksem city and join my ranks of marines.

The second thing I gained was this classic Castle set, which I traded through Facebook for my Star Wars Microfighters set, the Resistance X-Wing.  Far more `valuable` for me then a Star Wars box to re-use in MOC`s in the future.

The next one is a trade I did with a fellow LUG member.  I got the small fortress, as well as a bag of minifigures and another Rebel Runner ship.  The ship is without instrcutions, but I just wanted it for the hull parts, sails and the masts mainly to build another small vessel for Brethren of the Brick Seas.

The last haul was my shopping trip to the local Lego store past friday.  I had a couple of the Nexo Knight vouchers, some gift coupons and stuff, so I swooped in and grabbed a small Nexo set (to use the vouchers, and I love the figure), the smallest one of the new Elves range (for the chocolate bar) and two more Dimensions Fun packs, and in the end I paid basically for a single Fun Pack only.  Getting double points on the whole lot is an added benefit then as well.

All in all, a migthy fine grabbings this week for very few euro`s spend :-)

Nexo Knights: Het Boek Der Monsters

Usually when Lego releases a new line of their own, aka one not from a franchise, they also bring out some additional material like books, magazines, cartoon series etc...

With Nexo Knights, while I`m not wild of the range so far, they actually did something cool.

They brought out the `main villain` of the series, The Book of Monsters, in well, book form.  This book does it completely different then usual, in that it doesn`t feature pictures of the actual sets and minifigures, but presents them in a drawn style.

This makes it a new experience to flip through the pages, and it tells the story of the line and the setting from the viewpoint of the bad guys, including graffiti on the profile of the titular heroes.

Now, at current the range features the Knights and their magma monsters, but if the things in the book are actually planned for future releases, we are going to get a good time ahead, as there is also an `evil forest` theme in the book, as well as characters from a `pirate like faction`.  This might actually turn out into something cool it seems.

Time will tell, but until then, be sure to pick up a copy of this tome, it`s worth it and an enjoyable read even if you`re not into the new mix of Castle and Space.

The Haul Report #16

Another week gone by, and some nice little goodies have found it`s way to my collections again as I managed to do some good trades.

...and some nice little purchases...

The week began with this parcel dropping in found through Facebook, a lot of various pirate figures and torsos, which is always handy for the upcoming builds and the population of my city to be.

Through BrickLink, I got two small envellopes with some torsos, whom I will be needing for two collaboration builds in BOBS, which will revolve around a group of scientists in our MAESTRO storyline.

Tuesday I went shopping with the GF, and it was the brithday of my local bookdealer, so what better excuse to drop by him, wish him a happy birthday and snatch up the new Nexo Knights book for my Legobrary.  The book is completely different from their usual productions, and truly beautiful, but that will be something for when I finished it ;-)

I also found a Juniors Pirates set, which is full of handy pieces and the map element I really wanted.  Even the printed wall section is handy for future builds.

The final purchase was yesterday.  A facebook friend had pointed me to the final stocksale of a toy- and childrenstore that stopped it`s activities, and while it wasn`t much, they still had some Lego standing around.  Namely these 5 sets, whom I paid 32.50 for the whole lot, not bad as I discovered both the Dino and the Technic set alone are listed on BL for 30 each.

So that has been a good week again for parts, with an unexpected `finale` in that I now have some more sealed sets (the Technic and the 2 City sets above) to be able to trade around for piratey and knightley stuffsies in the future.
