Inspirational Lego # 103

With the holiday festivities dwindling down, it's time to get back to the order of the day.

And that means we're beginning the third calendar year of this longest running regular feature on this little corner of the internet.  Once again, I`ll hope to show you a year long the coolest 10 builds I found on the internet on a weekly basis.

Starting this episode, we have a large Classic Space based starbase.  Complete with all manners of different spaceships, the designs are on par with current day techniques and builds, while retaining the classic colourscheme.

Next, we have the Joker standing above the chemical vats at ACE Chemicals.  This build makes great use of smoke and lighting effects to give it an eerie look.

I always loved MASK as a toy when I was a kid, and this rendition of the good guys headquarters, Boulder Hill, is excellently executed.

Hailing from the Andromeda's Gates online game at Eurobricks, comes this sinister looking Chrome Driller mining machine.

An archeological digsite is next on the list, including a small caravan for the researchers to rest and relax.

This is a fantastic rendition of Lu Tze, the monk from the Discworld series by the late Terry Pratchet.

One of the movie successes of last year was the sequel to Nemo's adventure, Finding Dory.

After a week of big dining, a simple hot dog might be a welcome variation of the menu.  I really like the use of banana's to represent the mustard on this build.

Next we have a good looking microscale landscape build, with Karnavian Falls.  The inverted round bricks and stems for trees give it a distinct look.

A fantastical detailed and sleek lined build of the classic Gundam mobile suit, the RX78-2, really looks intimidating.

And there we have it, the start for another 50+ weeks of inspirational builds found on the internet.  As the past two years, this will be posted on mondays as much as possible (so with vacations or so, it might differ a little now and then).

Until next time, and keep on building in 2017!

The Ice Runner GARC

It has been a (scandalously) long time since I found some spare time to build for Andromeda's Gates, the sci-fi rpg over on Eurobricks, but with this GARC I managed to hop back in.

GARC: Galactic Asteroid Rally Circuit racers

These are basically microbuild spaceships made to zoom around asteroids, and they are part of the Challenge 5, category C.  The rules mention the vessel must count 12x12 studs maximum excluding exhaust fumes etc, which I managed to the final stud in length (see the bottom picture).

The Ice Runner is the latest Kawashita racer, and sports the icy logo of Von Geekington's love for ice mining.  Long and sleek, she is mostly geared towards straight line speed, sacrificing manoeuvrability instead.

Sporting quad awesomnium impulse engines, the lady is ready to compete for gold in the AG Olympics!

And the requested twelve stud measurement

Inspirational Lego # 76

For those that support our national soccer team, inspiration might have come to them already after last night`s demonstration.

For all the others, her we are again with a selection of 10 pretty cool Lego builds as we try to do every monday :-)

We star the week with a very nice looking Chibi vehicle.  This flying pirate ship looks like a combination of the Black Pearl and the Arcadia, and it does a great job at it.

Sky-fi might be an area of building I`ll probably never dable in, but that doesn`t mean I can`t appreciate the builds, like this fantastic british plane.

This strafighter has a certain anime feel to itself with the pointed wings at the back.

A Star Wars vignette that comically represents the difference between the Light and Dark sides of the Force.

A fantastic representation of White Cap Bay from Pirates of the Carribean

Mega Bloks may hold the license for the HALO series, but that doesn`t stop builders out there at all, as this fantastic Globemaster shows.

I love the way the lava flow is made on this small space setting build.

From the Andromeda`s Gate building game comes this huge all-terrain vehicle.

The fantasy building is not only fantastic looking, but the way the water stream is incorporate and redirected from the roof is really magnificent.

We end this week with an example that cool things can be build with large Bionicle parts, as the dragon shows.

And that`s it again for this week, see you all again next week!

The Machine Buffalo

My latest, and probably final build for Andromeda`s Gates as I just can`t get the knack of building good spacey models (curvatures are my curse), this one is a bit of a special thingie I put together.  Well, unless of course with challenges, and if I have the time to do so.

The Machine Buffalo was the mobile base of the 80s japanese Super Sentai show `Liveman` (that what would become Power Rangers in the western world) which disgorged the small animal vehicles that would combine in a giant robot.

Now, I went with the looks and design of the vessel, and included one of the beasts as well, as a sort of `mobile battle tank` for my adventurers in the tale.

The vessel is armed with big plasmablasters, as can be seen as this one fires his deadly load towards the enemies of Kawashita.

The top hatch opens to be able to launch the Talon, a small birdlike scouting drone to do reconnaisance over the surrounding area.

The large front hatch opens to reveal the command center, where the operations of the tank are controlled.

The rear hatch is the ammunitions depot, featuring blasters, electro sticks and the likes.

It was rather fun to build and challenging to get the angles consistent with the original vessel from the television show, but now I have to erect some castle walls again ;-)
