Wiglaf Miniatures Warlord

Because I need another range and scale of figures like I need my head ventilated, may I present the first Wiglaf Miniatures 18mm 7th Century Anglo-Saxons. I picked them up from North Star (Warlord and Followers 1).

The figure was cleanly cast with some slight mould marks that were easily removed with the edge of a half round file. It is based on a Renedra 20mm round base. The puddle base was blended in with milliput.
The cloak, shield and crest are Citadel Mephiston Red. The wolfskin was Vallejo London Grey, All metal parts (including the mail) was Vallejo Black Grey. Weapon edges and metal highlighting was Vallejo London Grey.
Belt, Seax scabbard and shield handle was Citadel Mournfang Brown. The boots were Citadel Catachan Flesh. Leggings, such and sleeves were Citadel Steel Legion Drab.

Now to paint the rest of them and the Copplestone Casting "Picts".

Laserburn Imperial Trooper

Laserburn was one of the first games I played, and after nearly 40 years I managed to find one of my painted miniatures.

William Killian (28mm) for scale.
The paint job (and the moulding) do not stand up to close attention.
The paint job was Humbrol matt white enamel, Humbrol red enamel and the black detail courtesy of a small diameter Rotring pen.

The sculpt looks rather crude compared to a recent GZG Chinese Astronauts.

Hammer's Slammers Blower

David Drake's Hammer's Slammers series of military SF involves the actions of a high tech mercenary organisation. The stories are derived from Drake's Vietnam experiences as an Enlisted Interrogator in the US 11th Armoured Cavalry Regiment.

Equipped with hover tanks (Panzers) and hover combat cars (blowers) reflecting the 11th Armoured Cavalry's M48 tanks and M113 ACAV.

The hulls are cast from Iridium, which is both extremely hard and has a high melting point. The latter is important on the battlefield as the weapon of choice is the Power Gun, an energy weapon that evaporates steel. The Power Gun is a line of sight weapon, so satellites and aircraft do not survive the start of hostilities.
The combat car is equipped with three pintle mounted 2cm calibre tri-barrelled powerguns.
The crew area is open to allow clear lines of sight (aided by the blowers sophisticated sensor suite).
Overhead protection is limited a mesh that prevents grenades being thrown into the crew area.
It is also convenient for stowage.

15mm Cromwell from PSC part three

At Colours I bought a set of 15mm transfers for the British Guards Division.

The Cromwell has received Guards Division and Welsh Guards decals.

15mm Cromwell from PSC part two

A long while ago, I started work on a Plastic Soldier Company Cromwell tank.

It was a nice and easy kit to build, I just did not get round to painting it. The crates are from the PSC German accessory set, though I am not sure where the toolbox on the left rear mudguard was sourced from.

It got undercoated along with some other British vehicle I was working on, and the tracks and camouflage nets got painted black when I had some black paint to spare.

The tank received the traditional Citadel Chaos Black spray undercoat followed by PSC British Tank green.

The camouflage nets were painted with Vallejo Black and dry brushed with Citadel Nurgle Green (as was the hull and turret).

The tyres are Vallejo Black Grey. The tarpaulins are Citadel Steel Legion Drab. The crates were painted with Vallejo Old Wood. The straps are Citadel Zandri Dust.
The hull and turret were washed with Citadel Athonian Camoshade and the tracks and wheels with Citadel Agrax Earthshade.
The Tank Comander is very shy.

It is short of decals. Something to remember at Colours.

15mm Cromwell from PSC

As a slight diversion from other projects, I assembled a Plastic Soldier Company 15mm scale Cromwell tank.
It is mainly out of the box, except I removed and reposed the rear commander's hatch because of the adjacent aerial, added using brass rod. Items from the German stowage and commanders set have been added.
the commander has a map laid out in front of him. Camouflage nets have been hung around the turret.

Zvezda Panzer 38(t) in 15mm

Many years ago I bought a Zvezda 15mm scale Panzer 38(t). As I had a spare moment I decided to assemble and paint it.

I added a spare wheel, spare track, a helmet, an ammo box and an MG ammo box from the PSC stowage and crew set. I also drilled and added a peg on the bustle and sculpted some soft stowage.

It was undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black spray. The hull and wheels were painted with Vallejo Black Grey. A mix of Vallejo black and Hull Red was applied to the track and the exhaust silencer.

The hull and turret were dry brushed with Humbrol 246.

The helmet was painted with Vallejo German Camouflage Dark Green.

As I do not have any 15mm scale decals, I raided the Warlord and Rubicon sheets. The Balkenkreuz was from Warlord, the number from two Rubicon German AFV sheets (only one set of small numbers per sheet).

After varnishing, a wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade was added.

Comparison with the Warlord Games resin Panzer 38(t). It also uses the Rubicon numbers and the same size Warlord Balkenkreuz.

Churchill AVRE (15mm PSC)

Some work in progress pictures of Plastic Soldier Company's 15mm Churchill AVRE.

There is a fill issue on the side hatches, though it is not very noticeable at 15mm scale.

As you can see, I have added the AVRE bits to the side of the track units.
I also removed the mud guards from the front.
