Liquor Store - Warbases
At Salute, I planned to buy some Wild West buildings from Sarissa, but they did not have any stock. So I was looking through the Warbases models.
The first building I have started is the Liquor Store model.
Interestingly, there is a number of circular "holes" in the sheets - the company name probably answers the question, I assume that they are bases that have been removed. The walls were painted with Vallejo Old Wood, the floor and frames were painted with Army painter Oak Brown.
Additional tidying up is required and it needs weathering.

Cactus Patch
Having bought Dead Man's Hand, and previously Wild West Exodus, I needed some scenery.
At SELWG, I bought another pack of Dead Man's Hand Cacti and some Products For Wargamers MDF scatter terrain bases.
Some rocks were sculpted using Milliput and the bases removed from the cacti with a razor saw.A mixture of granite ballast and Woodland Scenics fine Cinder Ballast was applied over PVA glue to texture the base. This was undercoated first with Halfords Grey Primer, then Citadel Zandri Dust spray.
The cacti were painted Army Painter Army Green, dry brushed with Citadel Nurgle Green and shaded with Citadel Coelian Greenshade. They were then dry brushed again with Citadel Nurgle Green and lightly with Citadel Terminatus Stone.
The base was then dry brushed with Citadel Terminatus Stone.

Other rules from SELWG 2021
At SELWG I bought Five Parsecs From Home, a set of solo play SF rules.
The rules are designed to allow you to tell a story involving your band of rogues, roughens or heroes. Though it can be used just to fight battles, the main selling point is the campaign system. I will be discussing this more in a later post. The other set of rules is Dead Mans Hand. This is a set of Wild West rules, and I bought them as the Greenhorn Set, including the rules, the markers and cards plus a box of ten plastic multi-part Gunslingers.

Great Escape Stargrave Gunslinger
Great Escape Games released their multi-part multi-pose Western Gunslingers in June.
This was at the same time as the release of Stargrave and the plastic figures from North Star.
So here is a combination of the two.
This is the duster coated body with the advancing legs from the Gunslinger set combined with a head, arms and gun from the Stargrave Crew set. Here he is on set
Now I want to build a Chicago Wizard for hire using the same body.

More Scenery For WWX
The first is a couple of Cacti from the TTCombat Western Accessories pack.
They are on a laser cut Products For Wargamers Scatter Terrain MDF base (the edges of which were filed to a slope). Woodland Scenics fine ballast over PVA plus two left over bits of Greenstuff for rocks.
Another piece of terrain, this time a rock cube - natural or manufactured for nefarious motives - you decide.
Games Workshop 60mm flat base with a cube of plastic card covered with Milliput.
It offers some hard cover on the battlefield.

Adobe Jail - Sarissa 40mm scale
The kit comprises three sheets of laser cut MDF.
Due to the nature of the building, I did not quite follow the instructions.
The interior includes two cells, built using two components, the long set of bars and the short set. I glued them together, but did not glue them to the base plate (I used that as a jig to hold it all together).
Once the glue was dry, the bars were removed from the base plate and sprayed, first with Halfords Black Primer, followed by a light dusting of Halfords Grey Primer.
The four sides and the interior piece that provides the support beams through the walls was glued together, ensuring that glue was kept clear of the base, which was again used as a jig to keep everything square.
The etched side of the roof plate was sprayed with Citadel Ogre Flesh spray, as was the base plate.
Once the glue fixing the walls had dried, the joints were tidied up with Milliput. Milliput was also used to provide some surface detail, ensuring the etched detail was kept.
Once that was set, the windows and doors was masked (the window frame and shutters piece was left off). The roof plate was inverted and used to mask the roof space.
The exterior was first sprayed with Rustoleum Rust effect spray to add surface texture. This was then sprayed with Halfords Grey Primer followed by Halfords White Primer. The interior walls were also sprayed with Halfords White Primer.
The barred windows and the front window's frame was painted with Vallejo Black and dry brushed Vallejo Black Grey. The wooden supports and the door frame were painted with Citadel Dryad Bark.
The brick surfaces were washed with Citadel Gryphonne Sepia wash. The walls were washed with Citadel Agrax Earthshade.
