Gamers Grass Gnarled Branches

Gamers Grass have added a new range of 3D printed items to add to your bases. These are an assortment of Gnarled Branches, some of which have additional features.

Some have additional features, this crow and a cow skull. Whether they are in all sets, I do not know.

This will also be useful for the other two Treants from Crooked Dice, adding the branches will differentiate them from the original one, which used a branch from the Crooked Dice Dead Forest set.

Gamers Grass Ancient Columns

Gamers Grass have added a new range of 3D printed items to add to your bases. One of them is a set of Ancient Columns in various states of disrepair.

The bits come in a robust box about the size of their tuft sets.
Inside is what I assume is a random assortment of complete and bits of column.
This set contains both Doric and Corinthian columns, whether other sets contain Ionic columns I do not know.

These will be very useful for the forthcoming Warriors of Athena game from Osprey Games.

Renedra 20 foot container

At Salute, Renedra released their injection moulded 20 and 40 foot containers (plus barrels and pallets).

I bought two of their 20 foot container packs.

The
The pack builds two containers with opening doors and four pallets.
Each container requires three sprues - top and bottom sprue; sides sprue; end and doors sprue.

What is not clear from the instructions is that the sides sit on top of the base, not on the outside. The fit is good once you work out how the bits go together, however there is no assistance in holding the walls together (it does require at least three hands to balance them).
Once assembled, it looks like a corrugated container.
A nice detail is their is a ventilator on one side.
The end brackets - which in real life are used to attach them to a wagon or lorry, or to hold them together when stacking - are lacking in detail, and the normal slots (which are used by the big fork lid trucks) are missing. However, these are gaming pieces and not model railway
The door detail is good, and the doors open and the interior walls are detailed.

This one has been undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black spray, then Citadel Corax White.
I do need to get some suitable decals, probably from model railway suppliers.

Comparison shots

Ainsty (~1/62), Renedra (1/56), Unknown but either 1/48 or 1/50,  O Gauge (1/43)

Of course, there is always a need for something to carry it.

I am thinking of trying to extend a Crooked Dice Tortuga lorry. The container fits in the flat bed. I could probably do with another set of wheels as well as extending the frames.

Retro Games Workshop Books

There is a thread on the Lead Adventures Forum about the Games Workshop terrain and tanks books.

This book was published in 1996. It covered Warhammer and 40K terrain and buildings.
This one was published in 2003. It added coverage of terrain suitable for Lord of the Rings as well as Warhammer and 40K.
The "How To Paint Citadel Tanks" was published in 2009.

Dead Trees part one

Crooked Dice Dead Forest.
Another Products for Wargamers MDF base.
The trunks were painted with Citadel Mechanicum Standard Grey. The exposed inner wood was painted with Army Painter Skeleton Bone. This was then dry brushed with Citadel Mechanicum Standard Grey followed by a wash of Citadel Nuln Oil.

Another piece of terrain. A barrier made from Debris of War barrels.
