We (almost) have another dragon!

Well, as we come close to 2022 I thought it good to show the dragon sculpt... John Pickford has really pulled out the stops on this one... not sure if it'll be resin or metal as yet but it's a wonderful piece of sculpting art. Furled wings to follow....

He will, of course, be our second dragon... the first being Noggin the Nog's Groliffe the Ice Dragon, treasurer of the Dragon's Friendly Society (established clerical grade.) sculpted by Martin Buck...

Don't forget to become a Politico (top left, grow the lead revolution please) or even hit 'The Little Soldier Company' banner at the top and pick up some pieces... every little helps.

Also, if you would care, you could buy me a cup of coffee at the link below... miniature collecting is thirsty work.

Drunken dwarves and gnolls and some frogs... what's not to like...

Well, amongst other bit and bobs, I've managed to finish the bar room staff set from The Little Soldier Company. Sculpted by John Pickford with the Westies being based on my Arya and his Meg.

Also managed to finished a limited edition tribute to the old Citadel Fantasy Tribe 'Drunken Gnolls' from Satanic Panic Miniatures, sculpted by Martin Buck and available here.

Whilst we're at it, there's a new company on the block called White Mouse Miniatures who have some charming frogs for you all...

That's all for now... lots more to come shortly though...

Dwarven Bar Room Brawl - Kickstarter now live...

Well, it's been a long time coming but I've finally launched the dwarf bar room brawl Kickstarter...

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1896378744/bar-room-brawl-rpg-miniatures-for-tavern-skirmishing

All the figures are sculpted by the renowned John Pickford with the illustration by the wonderful Martin Buck.

It's already hit the target so if it keeps climbing I'll commission some more pieces.

It'd be great if people could share the link.

Foundry's John Pickford Barbarian Warriors - at last!

Back in March this year the wonderful Clam extolled the virtue of these sculpts on his blog;  Clamshell & Sea Horses. One thing led to another and they joined the coffee table machinations of this elderly mind ie I completely forgot about them.....they were then mentioned on a Facebook group a week ago.......I hastily got in contact with Foundry and lo and behold they arrived a couple of days ago...night shifts being what they are this is the first chance I've had to show them off. Gone are the days of sending off a postal order and then waiting impatiently for the postman.....we live in enlightened times......

Completely old school in style so I have no worries about showing them here. Email Martin on customers@wargamesfoundry.com and tell him I sent you. If, like me, you are a fan of John's sculpting you could do no better than stroll on to Clam's dedicated WIKI site here. Quite frustrating as there are many unreleased sculpts......and you may lose your soul (or more accurately your bank balance) once you tread into the White Knight's private venture area here......

C&C as always to; enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk

Post Salute... 4A Miniatures newbie...

Andy Coleman over at 4A Miniatures has an incredible line of Chaos Dwarf types and this one has to be my favorite...picked it up at Salute off his wife but didn't get chance to chat to him as he was knee deep in customers as usual. I have shamelessly nabbed the pic off his site to accompany my unpainted ones.  Sculpted by the boy genius John Pickford and lovingly painted by the maestro Chris Sabick. Tell him Tony sent you....

Hiargh and Lowargh

Separate shield that I may use elsewhere....

Otherworld Miniatures Giant

Sculpted by John Pickford, I painted this for the Frother's game at Salute 2010. Richard Scott of Otherworld Miniatures had offered one to be used as a prize in the Frotherheim game that year and, like a fool, I volunteered to paint it with2 weeks to go.......Bruenor Odinson painted the display figure for Otherworld at the same time......it was a fun time having no sleep and posting work in progress pics on Frothers. Richard ended up giving me this copy and donated another as the prize in the game.

The parcel arrived.......................

How much was the postage????

No.5......

Ahhh, the contents......including 3 head variants..

and a small version of the Otherworld Minis idol

now the drilling and pinning commenced....

that was the first stage completed............

brilliant patchwork jacket and trousers....

with my 'tidy' work space in the background..

and the flesh starts bringing it all together....

although this is what happens when you miss a mold line due to overtired eyes.......

getting the accessories added to his belt....

and another mini idol discovered on the base....

his nifty waistcoat colour scheme c/o your friendly internet reptile search....

just a couple of close ups of the head......

and the eyes still haunt me now........

as finished as it is going to be............

and a quick one of me the morning before Salute.. 2 hours before the train was due, still willing the mattcoate to dry....

Foundry Open Day 24th February 2012

Well, got down there for quarter to ten....the traffic was fairly light all things considered and there were only a couple of people already mooching around the bargain bins. Thieving buggers......should at least have the decency to wait for me to turn up.

Mostly Napoleonics and Seven Years War :(

Familiar staff were there so had some good chats about....well, the usual stuff. The warehouse was down on stock for some reason - not sure what is happening there and forgot to ask......the older codes such as the DA (Darkest Africa) were few and far between on the racks so maybe they are discontinuing a lot....... I was trying to get a set of the old Citadel Samurai but was told they are now totally out of production........should have picked up the blisters at the last open day rather than 'leaving it till next time'.

Free coffee and tea was laid on as usual with a good selection of biscuits......

Matt was running an American War of Indepence game that turned more competitive as the game wore on. Good fun though and smoothly umpired.

I found a bunch of new fantasy minis in the painting cabinets including new halflings sculpted by John Pickford which look great...............should be released by the end of the year to tie in with something......no clues were given as to what this is to be.....

More later as I should post some pics of the loot.........I did manage to pic up duplicated blisters in error but that's the lure of the lead for you.....
