Northumbrian Tin Soldier - Time Robbers II - Evil existed long before good....

Following in the recent footsteps of the Time Robber dwarven types, that purveyor of lead goodies at Northumbrian Tin Soldier has had the talented Martin Buck sculpt up some additions that fit the bill for many evil geniuses across the fantasy genre.

All painted by the awe-inspiringly talented Andy Taylor...

The minis released so far are available here (please let David know I sent you).

I also realised, once again, that one could use these for games based on certain movies if you were that way inclined.....Classical Greece meets Napoleon meets Robin Hood's England and so on....all in the vain pursuit of a map which will allow, well, the understanding of digital watches for one thing.

Previous release blog post;

Films to watch for inspiration..........

This would also make a great Frostgrave quest....suitably weird warbands abound within the Time Robber range and, of course, my favorite Nightfolk one....(more of my Nightfolk posts here).

Armoured Nightfolk finally painted up.....

Continuing the recent Nightfolk theme, I've finished 10 of the armoured types. Lovely sculpts by Martin Buck......I keep looking at the finished pic and thinking I should do highlights....then I think no, they'll look fine once varnished......3 more on the painting table along with some old Nevile Stocken Archive minis.

I also took pics along the way so I've added them below....something of a new approach for me but it allowed me to look at the painting in close up as I went along without having to rely on my failing eyesight / magnification I use....

I tend to clean up the miniatures then base them before undercoating in black....a good cheat as it gives great demarcation between areas without the need to carefully paint dark lines afterwards.....

Not sure where the blue and red scheme came from but I think it works nicely....

I checked the paint job by Andrew Taylor for The Tracker and Beast piece (here) after I'd started with green....that helped with the later lighter color of the underneath areas otherwise I'd have been really lazy....

I decided to add contrasts for the cuffs as otherwise it didn't quite work for me...

Just the washes to go....GW Gryphonne Sepia. For me it gives a nice finish although sometimes a little dark....I'll need to work on this.

Finished group.......

Figures are all available from Northumbrian tin Soldier - link here.....just click on the Nightfolk tab at the top.

Any comments or criticism (constructive please!) email me or leave a note below.

(Just a little reminder of the film they are loosely based on...)

Northumbrian Tin Soldier Nighfolk

I have completely fallen in love with these sculpts by Martin Buck. A growing range of Labyrinth and Froud inspired sculpts....all part of David Holland's planned hijacking of my wallet.....

Top 3 still need varnishing of course.......I've just started on 10 more of the armored soldier types so more pics soon.

The Nightfolk range, currently numbering 46 types are available here. Tell David I sent you.....

C&C welcome as always; enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk
