Star Wars Miniatures... well, sort of. Dragon Miniatures from the late 70's

First advertised in White Dwarf No.5 (February 1978 then each issue until issue 9), Dragon Miniatures released their 'Star Lords' range of 'not' Star Wars miniatures. Very crude sculpts but, as always, right up my alley and I adore them! Old school is sometimes the best school. If there isn't an image (or it's a broken/miscast mini) then it's one I'm after (trade or dirty cash).

SL01 Star Warrior w/ Hand Phaser

SL02 Star Warrior w/ Laser Sword

SL03 Star Lord (The Baddie)

SL04 The Wise One (The Goodie)

SL07 Human Robot (Cyborge)

SL08 Mechanical Robot (Oilycan)

SL09 Alpha Warrior w/ Hand Disintegrater

SL10 Alpha Warrior w/ Laser Gun

I believe these two are from the range although no markings... the painted one is justgoing into the strip vat to see if I can find anything. I originally thought they were bugbears of some sort but noticed the guns they came with...

Star Wars Miniatures - Archive Style...

An excellent blog post over on the Star Wars Collectors Archive by Ron Salvatore and Yehuda Kleinman.

http://blog.theswca.com/2022/03/adventures-in-miniature-nevile-stockens.html

I blogged about these some time back but this article takes it to the next level and is well worth reading. My posts are here. Take note of the historical miniatures in one of the pics - Byzantine light cavalry, Huns, a Musketeer and a mailed cavalryman. I would love to find some more information on those as there is nothing out there that I have found as yet. Going off the scale by Nevile's eyes I don't think some are the 15mm Dark Ages range. A poor listing (here) on the WIKI seems very limited... I do have a few of the Ancients range and will eventually open the baggies and get them posted... for now though, we shall make do with what must be the 079 Sudanese Elephant with 3-man crew although the insert card is numbered 100.

Nevile's customary signature...

So, only a short post today but, if you like the blog, please follow it and become a Politico (top left) - it makes me feel like I'm appreciated as does leaving a comment below!

Also, if you feel slightly flush, buying me a coffee is always appreciated...tomorrow is cinnamon twist roll at the park..  https://ko-fi.com/davidwood

Any thoughts on anything please do leave a comment and/or email me on enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk, even if it is to berate me for my penchant for coffee :)

Archive Miniatures 70's Star Wars Parody

Having been swiftly issued with C&D by Lucasfilm lawyers regarding their 'not' Star Wars minis back in the 70s, Nevile Stocken released a few more miniatures aimed at the same audience...the earlier posts detailing these are here and here. I have finally managed to pick up all the '2098 Star Fellowship' ..... a parody consisting of elf and hobbit versions.....

Edit......still need the R2D2 parody- see further below! The R2D2 I had was 'not the Droid I was looking for'.........

Hans Self

Leke Skyhibbot

Princess Luia

Obi Tu Canoli (Nevile's favorite Italian dessert)

RSLA Androidess (Ursula Andress.....)

RT Two Two Mouse

I have been informed by Nevile Stocken that the piece I pictured here earlier is not the droid I was looking for,,,,,,,,,,the one below is the one for this set....

'NOT R2P2, but RT 2 2 (Arty Two Two) Mouse - The miniature shown is actually one of the original Star Wars releases, so does not belong with the group. The miniature that does is the one with the upside-down head, to which were added two round Sensor appendages (to give it the appearance of a mouse head, as well as the added tail growing out of the underneath of the body with a clamping thingamajig at the end. It was all I could do to resist adding a Tutu to the little robot. I decided against it because it would have spoilt the image I wanted to convey.'

If anyone has one to trade or sell please let me know! I NEED this miniature!

Chewgumma the Fuzzy

If anyone has a sealed pack for trade / sale or just a pic please let me know.

Archive Miniatures 2098 Star Fellowship - another piece of the puzzle......

As part of this 'never ending story' of the 'not Star Wars' minis I dug out a mini I had never identified following a friend's comments on this set about most of the set being Hobbit (or Hibbot) sized.....lo and behold.....Chewbacca the Fuzzy;

Excuse the pics, wife is in bed so can't use the normal lighting area....

The others I am certain of so far are;

Hans Self (2098 inscribed on the base) - here missing gun barrel...

Obi Tu

Princess Lula

That leaves the final 3; Leke Skyhibbot, Rsla Androidess and R.P.2.P - I am told the robots were 'normal' sized so potentially we have these;

Seems to fit the Androidess bit....

A 3rd Hibbot type has been posted by Nightbay on the Lost Minis WIKI..could this be Leke Skyhibbot?

If anyone has any further info please give me a shout on enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk

Link to the previous post here

Don't forget if you are interested in Archive Minis, I run a Yahoo Group - (edit 25/02/2022), now long gone as are all Yahoo Groups.

Early morning edit (can't sleep)...I've just been informed that all the figs above do make up the set. Excellent. Anyone got a spare of the last Hibbot mini please????

Extra edit......2098 appears on the base of all of them now I've stripped them...should have done that in the first place.....

Unreleased Star Wars part 2...

You will never guess what I found at a boot sale at the weekend just gone......a small box of lead miniatures, most of which were nice......but I had to hide my joy at finding a Citadel unreleased Stormtrooper.....God alone knows how he managed to end up in that little pile of lead....I have to say I didn't point anything out to the seller who just said 'old Warhammer I was told, not mine....' The only thing I know is that Citadel went for a licence that was never granted and only a handful of figures were sculpted. Two Stormtroopers that I am aware of. Anyway..... pic below and a link to the old Archive Star Wars minis here.

That's it for now. Still shaking..................
