Dragontooth Personalities - P11 Swordswoman

Another one down... I've been trying to paint her for a long time but she totally wiped my mojo until the other day when I changed the colour scheme. Still not the best sculpt (quite a few are like the proverbial Marmite ie love 'em or hate 'em) but she's done. Just need varnishing now.

That's it for now!

Dragontooth Personalities - P24 Rachir the Red Archer

Another one of Tom Loback's sculpts finished at last... I've managed to pick up examples of all the range now barring the P43 Celtic Wizard. If you have one please get in touch! The Rachir was another one based on the Elric books with a slight name change. A lovely flowing sculpt but not an easy one to paint although I'm happy with the final result. Just varnishing to go.

More later, keep yourselves safe.

Dragontooth Oliphant and Cumulus the Storm Giant...

Two Dragontooth giants… a little pun intended. Cumulus the Storm Giant and the Oliphant. Cumulus is hollow cast but still weighs in at 823g. His thunderbolt had been replaced with one made out of plastic card of some sort… broken anyway. The Oliphant weighs in at a mere 643g by comparison… I'm not 100% certain of the sculptor but I assume the late Tom Loback sculpted the Cumulus and possibly the Oliphant... I think someone else may have done the Haradrim? Both sculpts from the late 70's.

In fact I do have two pics that Tom sent me some years back... he did sculpt the Oliphant and this was painted by Steve Tofano.

Not sure on this painted example, just found it on my laptop... nice anyway!

The 1978 catalogue lists it although without any images...

The 1979 catalogue however features it on the front cover...

And on to Cumulus...

I believe this is Tom's painted one however I could be wrong. Please give me a shout if you know otherwise...

The 1978 Catalogue drawing...

That's it for now folks!

Isolation painting... it's not all bad...

Well, I hope you're all keeping well and safe during these harrowing times... I get out once a day; in the morning to walk the hound for an hour or so but then it's staying in for the rest of the day. I shop about twice a week and keep in contact with my partner by phone... living on my own makes it quite stark although my two munchkins do visit (currently allowed) from their mum's nearby. I've been doing a evening live feed on Facebook, wittering on about painting and miniatures in general but haven't worked out how to export the videos to YouTube or here. There is a great hobby community out there and it keeps me sane... well, as sane as I could ever be of course. If you 'do' Facebook then the Old School Miniatures group is here. If you don't then join in, it's really therapeutic...

Edit... found how to save the videos so they're now on my YouTube channel... lol, at this rate I'll become a vlogger.

On to the minis completed this week;

Dragontooth P18 Swordsman Roland

Roland has been half painted for 10 years or more... this has been great motivation for me to finally finish some WIPs...

Ral Partha Halfling from the AD&D 3 Stage Character set...

Premier Productions 'Conquest' Saracens by Al Charles. This was a 40mm range of Saracens and Templar style knights. A nice range, I've a few more to do and a few more to find of course. Unfortunately I put them on different sized bases... oops...

Ral Partha Fantasy Collector Series 02-021 Deep Elf Firing Bow...

Edit; still available from Iron Wind Metals, now a Sea Elf.

Finally, an Old Glory Trojan from the command pack, available here.

That's it for now. Time to have a quick shower and take the hound out... she's getting a little bored although we do have a small back garden she can be let loose in at least. Keep safe everyone and keep isolating where you can.

Any thoughts or messages please email me or leave a comment below - and if you've not become a Politico see top left and join the blog, make me feel wanted!

Dragontooth, P27 Subotai the Mongol.

Well, I finally got another of the Personalities range painted... still needs varnishing but as I'm now using spray cans (Windsor & Newton) I need to wait till I've a few pieces to do... could be a while of course. A lovely figure to paint... full of Tom Loback's usual flair for the athletic posing.

More of the range painted on previous posts here (scroll down to the older ones).

I'm still missing these;

P42 Elfin Thief or Adventurer
P43 Celtic Wizard
P48 Celtic Warrior Prince
P50 Dwarf Warrior in Chainmail

If you have any of them to trade or sell please let me know....

Dragontooth - Ye Blind Cyclops Inn box has arrived!

An American hobby friend came across this in their collection and realised it was on my wants list... swift trade later and it has arrived on these hallowed shores. I have the metal contents but am still looking for the vacform plastic building parts... let me know if you have spare please! More of my wants here

The box is a lot larger than the other two I have (couldn't find them to do a size comparison I'm afraid). I wonder if the size was reduced at a later date?

More details of the actual set below along with a YouTube video of the late Tom Loback being interviewed about his driftwood sculptures...
