i wasn’t expecting to like this so much because it is hard for me to read tone through manga sometimes but i think this started off super strong. i loved the main character chihiro like he’s so cute and i like the broody guy. i like the side characters and im sensing a found family here. in a way this reminds me of jjk in the sense of quality and how fun it is. can’t wait to continue on...more

personally, i think twyla was the black one simply because roberta couldn’t read and i feel that was too stereotypical for the black character to be tpersonally, i think twyla was the black one simply because roberta couldn’t read and i feel that was too stereotypical for the black character to be the one that couldn’t read. I think making roberta black while not being able to read is too obvious and i don’t think anything about this book makes it easy for you to figure out which one is which, so for the author to have it that obvious doesn’t make sense to me. Also, i really enjoy the way the friendship was written in this book. for it to be so short it captures their friendship in a way most authors can’t do with 300+ pages....more
i don’t know if it’s because i have insomnia myself or the fact that i read this faster than i could blink but i absolutely loved this book.
i don’t ki don’t know if it’s because i have insomnia myself or the fact that i read this faster than i could blink but i absolutely loved this book.
i don’t know if everyone will love this but surely it’s for me! i loved how it felt like scooby do but adult, i loved the graveyard setting and i loved this weird friend group they formed. i loved that not every character was a college student and that every character had something personal going on even with how short this book is.
one of my favorite tropes is when the found family is an unlikely group, where they form a found family relationship but either the characters hated each other beforehand or they’re so vastly different you wouldn’t expect them to be friends and surprisingly this book does that well! i think Rio does a good job at writing found family’s or group dynamics in general and i hope to see more of that from her in the future.
i do agree with everyone on the fact that it should’ve been longer but mostly because i fell in love with the characters and wanted more from them. i do think it’s the perfect length for this story because i actually don’t think for me that it would’ve worked as a full length novel....more
anyone that knows me knows that i absolutely love grady hendrix, ive read his entire backlist and i can’t say that for many authors. i didn’t love hisanyone that knows me knows that i absolutely love grady hendrix, ive read his entire backlist and i can’t say that for many authors. i didn’t love his release last year liked i had hoped, deep down i knew i wouldn’t because i don’t like ghost stories. when i saw this i knew i would love it and as you can see by the rating i was correct.
this book starts off very slowly, you don’t get into the plot until like 20% into the book. the first half of the book you’re learning about the characters and what it’s like for these teen pregnant girls and how it feels to be abandoned in this home. this book was so fascinating to me because i felt like i was there, as if i was one of the girls. as much as i complain about books feeling too long i surprisingly didn’t want it to end.
in a weird way the book felt cozy, it didn’t have much gore or really scary things but to me what these girls were going through was scary enough. even though none of these characters are my favorite i did grow to love all of them and feel so attached to them that i cried a bit during the epilogue. such a great read and it was fun to read in summer since that’s where the book takes place and it just helped so much.
i hope that if you’re reading this and you do decide to pick up the book, that you have as much fun as i did....more

absolutely love emily henry’s dedication to making her love interest more and more like nick miller the more she writes. i loved daphne as a character and i really feel like i relate to her a bit. i love that emily henry focuses on romances that of characters that are 30 since most romances the characters will be early or mid 20s. emily henry never fails to write a good and engaging romance, can’t wait to see her next one. ...more
