Yet another great read from Opal! I'm not usually a fantasy type of girl but this one had me gripped within the first couple of chapters.
I absolutely fell in love with Amalia and her pure heart. At times it was painful that she had been so sheltered. Yes, it was for her own good and to keep her innocent but it really was detrimental.
Rurik! LOL If you ever pictured a dragon being grumpy and with a short fuse, that would be him. He is so jaded, but rightfully so.
The relationship building between Rurik and Amalia was done flawlessly. The push and pull, the missteps and recoveries. It was fun to see Amalia get under Rurik's scales. A lot of grumpy H and sunshine h would be the light definition here.
The story had some definite harsh points, but they were necessary to the plotline in my opinion. As always, check your TWs....more

Good grief, my emotions and brain went for a trip on this one like I haven't experienced in a long time. Truthfully, I was up for it after reading Pen Pal. I had heard that this one had on hell of a plot twist and I was all for it.
Our FMC, Olivia, is an author who is experiencing writer's block so she's made her way to Paris and cloistered herself away in her agent's vacation apartment to try and find her mojo. A chance meeting with our MMC, James, sets her world off axis.
Olivia and James take up a torrid affair, and I mean HOT HOT HOT!! My Kindle was melting and I was getting ALL the ideas. James becomes more and more of an enigma to Olivia, even as they seem to get closer. It begins to mess with her mind, at least that's how she conveys it. She becomes wishy washy as to whether or not she trusts him.
Her conversations with her bestie had me absolutely howling with laughter, as did some of the conversations with her agent. I truly felt like a fly on the wall with the ramblings between those ladies.
I absolutely WILL NOT give away any of the plot twists or any spoilers because this is a book you just NEED to experience. As with Pen Pal, there is not a traditional happy ending. There is the ending that Olivia needed. I loved the ending. It was perfect.
Honestly, I hope that the author writes more of these types of books because, truly I'm addicted to them now.
I did listen to the audiobook and the performance with perfection. The narrators, Troy Duran, Veronica Pace, and Marnye Young, were the right cast for this story. Troy Duran as James just sends shivers all over and I haven't come across a narration that he's done wrong yet.

No spoilers ahead! I was so excited to receive this book to review. I have yet to read a book with this type of MMC and I couldn't wait to dig in and find out all his secrets.
Firstly, the world building is phenomenal. I was never left feeling lost or having to fill in the blanks where something was left lacking. Between the human world and the Veil, every little detail was very carefully explained and imaginatively drawn so that it could have quite literally come to life.
Orpheus and Reia were amazing characters. The connection between them was like a powder keg from the beginning. I loved learning about each one individually, and then together. Watching their relationship grow throughout their story was so very fulfilling. Going through their rollercoaster ride was exhilarating. Ohhh and it's so spicy!
I honestly absolutely CANNOT wait until the next book comes out! After getting to know the character a bit in this book, I'm invested!...more

I didn't read the blurb or the review, so I hadn't a clue what to expect. I just wanted to know Ty's story.
My heart was dragged all over the place in this book. Sorrow, grief, rage, fear, hope, love...I had them all. I was absolutely committed to both MC's from the very beginning. I cried so much reading this book. Carian did so much story building and character building that it really didn't feel like I was separate from the story.
I know that people recommend Torn sooooo much (loved it), but honestly, I loved Tied so much more. It was worth the emotional wringer! ...more

Firstly, I did NOT expect to identify so deeply with Aviva. However, Mama Grace had my number before the end of chapter 2 with this character. The absolute visceral emotional response I had kept me laughing out loud, so mad I was cursing the characters, and then sobbing like it was my own damn heart breaking.
Next, the guys. Ughhhhh! Drix, Otto & Sam are just so well written. Tragically broken, fiercely loyal, best friends without question.
I'm almost sad that I read this one before book two was out, which I rarely do. I loathe cliffies. LOL However, I was too curious to see what Grace had gotten up to when she had "stepped outside her zone" to wait. Now I'm in story limbo but I'm sooo not mad about it. This one is absolutely going on my physical bookshelf. I can hardly wait for March!...more
