What do you like best about Customer.io?

With a recent change, being able to find sent emails has become critical for me. I have used Customer.io multiple times daily for the past month and I am eternally grateful that it is so easy to use. What do you dislike about Customer.io?

If there was a way to set a default for report time period, that would save me a click or two but I haven't figured out if that's available to me as a personal setting. What do you like best about Customer.io?

I find Customer.io extremely beneficial due to its fast performance when building lists, which makes my workflow much more efficient. The platform's ability to change and update fields within campaigns while simultaneously sending emails and messages is something I particularly appreciate. The new email builder, known as Design Studio, is another standout feature for me because it's not only powerful but also very cool to use. My experience with Customer.io's integration capabilities has been positive, thanks to the flexibility with integrations. It's a setup that I find pretty cool and adaptable for various needs. I find that the campaigns within Customer.io that are intended to change data and fields can be confusing because the reporting acts and looks a lot like email campaigns. This similarity can lead to misunderstandings about the campaign's primary purpose. I appreciate how Customer.io allows me to engage with users throughout every stage of the funnel, making communication highly effective at various touchpoints. One of the standout features for me is its utility in the activation stage, where it significantly aids in onboarding new users who might otherwise drop off. By sending timely nudges, messages, and presentations through Customer.io, we guide users towards actions beneficial for our business. Furthermore, Customer.io plays a crucial role in ensuring proper account verification during sign-up and substantially aids in user retention. It helps re-engage users who haven't interacted with our app for extended periods. I find the net promoter score survey feature valuable, as it enables us to gather crucial user feedback. Additionally, being able to create journeys for different processes enhances our messaging capabilities and connects seamlessly with our customer data platform, allowing us to target users based on specific ad campaigns effectively. I also admire Customer.io's customer support, particularly the AI-driven support, which provides rapid feedback and assistance, essential for addressing any queries promptly. I felt that the AI functionality could be improved. Specifically, I would want the AI to understand and execute tasks based on instructions for campaign and journey creation, which would streamline the process by generating a draft that I can then easily edit before launch. What do you like best about Customer.io?

I really appreciate how Customer.io offers a comprehensive set of features at a competitive price, which stood out among other solutions like Iterable and Braze. The onboarding process was relatively straightforward thanks to their support package, making setup intuitive for campaign management, even though integrating data was a bit challenging initially. Customer.io significantly benefits our operations by facilitating proactive communication with patients, which aids in our growth and allows us to personalize messaging effectively. The campaign functionality, particularly the webhooks, is immensely useful, enabling integration with external services such as USPS Mail, and it works seamlessly with our Snowflake database. I find the customization capability of Customer.io particularly helpful; it allows us to send highly tailored emails, SMS messages, and mail based on geographic location and patient segments, improving engagement with new and existing patients. Additionally, the support we've received is commendable, and the product's continuous improvement and strong, customizable functionality enhance its value greatly. I appreciate Customer.io for perfectly catering to our specific needs by providing a stripped-down alternative to HubSpot, allowing us to pay only for the features we needed. The flexibility of their team, while still being a small company, was remarkable, as they could modify features or inform us about upcoming features, which was quite helpful. The support level we received was not only incredibly fast but also thoroughly comprehensive, making our experience seamless. I heard positive feedback about the setup process from colleagues, highlighting how smooth it was due to the excellent support provided by Customer.io. Their automation setup based on data inputs is incredibly easy, contributing greatly to its appeal as a marketer-friendly CRM. I particularly like the API journey builder, which facilitates the creation of complex automations between different tools. The journey builder paired with the segmentation capabilities stands out as the most useful features. Customer.io's simplicity and effectiveness are key elements that would lead me to choose it again, as they enable us to efficiently achieve our use cases while offering excellent value for money. I dislike the email design feature. Throughout my experience, I've witnessed three different tool iterations for designing emails, none of which are compatible with previous versions. I found the setup process to be a bit challenging due to the documentation. The documentation was very verbose but lacked an easy way to quickly get started. "Flexible, Stable, and Easy to Use"
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I particularly appreciate the simplicity and clarity of the onboarding with Customer.io. Everything was well-structured and we had no problems setting it up. The platform helped us solve the issue of marketers being able to effortlessly create emails with drag-and-drop, especially for newsletter marketing. I find the stability of the software excellent, as there have been no outage issues for years. The various features like campaigns and newsletters are extremely useful, and we also use them extensively for tracking and synchronizing different data. The ability to segment customers and synchronize data with various ad systems is extremely helpful. The value for money is great, and the flexibility that Customer.io offers fits perfectly with our use case. What do you dislike about Customer.io?

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

I would not recommend customer.io unless you have a lot of developer support. I have used a lot of marketing automation tools (marketo, hubspot, mailchimp) and customer.io is by far the most complicated. It advertises having a snowflake and salesforce sync but you have to build out everything yourself. I was surprised by this especially for salesforce (Even hubspot is a click of a button). For customer.io I'm building out custom code for the sync and it still is very complex and limited.

Furthermore, things like tagging UTM on a user profile involve liquid vs the easy tagging hubspot or marketo provide out of the box.

Furthermore, customer support is almost non-existent. A few times during implementation it would have helped having a technical phone call but instead it was the CSM who had no technical knowledge relaying stuff to their team which seemed like an unnecessary step. Customer.io is a reliable and well-rounded ESP. They consistently introduce new features that help us scale as our company expands. One of the standout aspects is the event properties, which are more advanced than those offered by other ESPs I have used in the past. What do you dislike about Customer.io?

I believe Customer.io falls short in a couple of areas. First, the analytics and conversion tracking features are somewhat unreliable. I find it difficult to trust their conversion tracking, which means I often have to rely on manual segmentation to assess incrementality myself. Second, when building segments, I can't use existing segments as building blocks. While this might not seem significant at first, I really appreciated this capability when I used Iterable in the past. It made things much easier, especially when setting up suppressions, since I didn’t have to remember and add every relevant attribute and event each time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
