ease of summer and embrace the crisp, energizing promise of fall. This sweater pattern embodies this

measured at underarms. This sweater is designed to be worn with
approximately 6-10" / 15 - 25.5 cm of positive ease; however, this is
just a guide. Some people prefer a closer fit; do not be afraid to
select an option that provides somewhat less than the suggested
ease according to your own preferences.

Gauge

19 sts and 25 rnds = 10 cm / 4" measured over stockinette in the round


using main gauge needles, after blocking

Suggested Needles

Main gauge needle:


4.5 mm (US 7) 16" / 40 cm, 24" / 60 cm, and 32” / 80 cm or 40” / 100
cm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge

Neck ribbing, hem, and cuff:


4 mm (US 6) 16” and 32” / 80 cm or 40” / 100 cm circular needles and
preferred needles for working small circumference in the round for
the cuffs (such as Magic Loop or DPNs), or one size smaller than main
gauge needle.

Notions

Stitch marker to indicate beginning of round


Two stitch holders or waste yarn for placing sleeve stitches on hold
Tapestry needle to weave in ends

2 strands of laceweight yarn are held together throughout. While
the length of the body and sleeves are easily customized, adding

DIRECTIONS

Neckband and short-row shaping

With smaller 16" / 40 cm circular needles and two strands of laceweight yarn held together, cast on 84 (90, 96, 102, 108, 114, 120, 120, 120,
120) sts. Place BOR marker and join to work in the round being careful not to twist your stitches.

Work 1 x 1 twisted rib for 3.5" / 9 cm.

ALL sizes: Knit 1 rnd.

Short-row shaping: Short-row shaping will raise the back neck slightly. We recommend the German Short Row method – you can find a
great tutorial by VeryPink Knits on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52qy8OOb-s0

Step 1 (RS): Knit 14 (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 26, 26, 26) sts. Work GSR.
Step 2 (WS): Purl to BOR marker. Do not turn, continue to Step 3.
Step 3 (WS): Purl 42 (45, 51, 51, 54, 57, 60, 60, 60, 60) sts. Work GSR.
Step 4 (RS): Knit to BOR marker.

Repeat Steps 1 - 4 four more times but each time work 3 sts past the last GSR turn (note that turn sts look like two sts because of the
method used but are worked/counted as 1 st).

Yoke

Switch to 16" / 40 cm main gauge needles. As you move through the yoke increases, change to 24" / 60 cm and 32" / 80 cm or 40" / 100
cm circular needles as necessary (i.e., when stitches become too cramped on the needles).

Knit 3 (3, 3, 5, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7) rnds.

At this point you will have worked 44 (44, 50, 54, 58, 62, 64, 66, 68, 72) rounds after neck ribbing (not including short rows). Yoke
measures approximately 7 (7, 8, 8.75, 9.5, 10, 10.25, 10.5, 11, 11.5)" / 18 (18, 20.5, 22.5, 24, 25.5, 26, 26.5, 28, 29) cm deep (measuring down
centre front from neck, not including ribbed neckband).

Separate body and sleeves as follows:

Remove BOR marker.

Place 48 (50, 54, 56, 60, 66, 70, 72, 74, 76) sleeve sts onto stitch holder or waste yarn, CO 8 (8, 8, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10) sts for underarm,
place new BOR marker, CO another 8 (8, 8, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10) sts for underarm, knit 82 (90, 95, 102, 108, 111, 116, 126, 136, 151) sts, place
next 48 (50, 54, 56, 60, 66, 70, 72, 74, 76) sleeve sts onto stitch holder or waste yarn, CO 16 (16, 16, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 20) sts for
underarm, knit to end – 196 (212, 222, 244, 256, 262, 272, 292, 312, 342) body sts.

Body

ALL SIZES: Knit until body measures 8.25" / 21 cm from underarm - or until desired length.

Switch to smaller needles.

Work 1x1 twisted rib for 2" / 5 cm.

Knit two rows. Bind off loosely.

Sleeves

Put 48 (50, 54, 56, 60, 66, 70, 72, 74, 76) sleeve sts from stitch holder or waste yarn on 16" / 40 cm main gauge needles. Knit across these
stitches, pick up and knit 8 (8, 8,10,10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10) sts from body at underarm, place marker to indicate BOR, pick up 8 (8, 8, 10, 10, 10,
10, 10, 10, 10) more sts from underarm. Join for working in the round – 64 (66, 70, 76, 80, 86, 90, 92, 94, 96) sleeve sts.

Knit until sleeve measures 18 (18, 17, 16.25, 15.5, 15, 15, 14, 14, 14)" / 45.5 (45.5, 43, 41.5, 39.5, 38, 38, 35.5, 35.5, 35.5) cm from underarm - or
until desired length. .

Decrease round: *k2tog; rep from * to end - 32 (33, 35, 38, 40, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48) sts.

Switch to smaller needles.

Knit 5 rows.

Bind off loosely in pattern.

Finishing

Fold the collar inwards and loosely whip-stitch the cast-on edge to the base of the ribbing, being careful to keep the ribs aligned.
Weave in ends and close small gaps at underarm.
Steam or wet block as desired.

Techniques

German Short Rows:


Work to the stitch specified in the pattern, turn. Slip the first stitch from left to right purlwise with yarn in front. Tug the yarn up and over
the right needle, creating a double stitch. This will be worked / counted as a single stitch on the next row. Continue row as instructed in
pattern.

LLI (left lifted increase):


From the back (so you don’t twist it), insert your left needle into the stitch two rows below the one you just knitted on your right needle.
Insert the right needle through the back loop of the lifted stitch and knit it.

Twisted rib:
*Knit 1 through the back loop, purl 1; Repeat from * to end of rnd.
