Silence Still Is Golden

Saturday Leftover Day.

Irving Philips did his Mr. Mum cartoon for over twelve years, probably more. So there are at least 600 cartoons out there. I ahve clipped them wherever I can, but I haven't evenscratched the surface. Presented in the right way, I think these timeless ssiltent cartoon (ant the crazy Sundays) would make for a terrific book.

Stay Inside

Saturday Leftover Day.

I know I am supposed to give you something to read these days, but today I have a textless strip. I have shown Mr. Mum before, a cartooning tour de force that ran all through the sixties with undiminished quality. I have to admit it is a hard strip to scan and clean. Alle the colrs run together and it is very easy to to them into some sort of murky slush. I tried a new way this time, if you follow the link you can see my previous attemps (and a lot more). Stay inside and read my blog.

Silent Might

Friday Comic Strip Day.

I am still trying to figure out what to do with the damaged disc of Tumbleweeds Sundays, but in the meantime here is another rare and forgotten gem: some of the Sundays of the silent panel strip that ran in many papers from the early sixties to the early seventies - but was never collected and completely forgotten after that.
