Wednesday Advertising Day.
Here are some black and white ads I have been wanting to share for some time.
The Campbell's ad looks as if it could be by jack Betts, only a bit more realistic. Maybe a collaboration? The Tootsie ad is one in a long, long series that just has never been listed anywhere properly. I hope my leaving them here willy nilly will someday help someone compile a titled list. The Dr, Lyon's and Kylonos ads are by the great Frank Robins. I have more and in color if you follow the link. The Smith Brothers ad is either by Gill Fox or Dik Browne and the Pepsi Cops Ad is by Mal Eaton, one in a long line of artist to take over the series from Rube Goldberg.

The Smoothest Name in Toothpaste
Wednesday Advertising Day.
A couple of month ago, I showed a series of black and white ads for Kolynos toothpaste by Frank Robbins. At that point I thought I might have found all of them. But this month I recieved a couple of news ones (and in color, too). Some of those unfortunately have no date. I tried to put them all together. Although most of these type of ads appeared twicemonthly, it still seems that this series may have been only once a month. I just mist a couple at the beginning and at the end. Or do they belong inbetween and should there be therefor be more?

Is That Kolynos?
Wednesday Advertising Day.
The first Sunday comic I bought, had a beautiful ad by Frank Robbins. One of these days I might come across it and scan it in for you. In the meantime, I have three examples for another series of ads the Scorchy Smith and Johnny Hazard artist. Seemed appropriate after just reading Jack Katz's account of the admiration his friend Alex Toth had for this Milt Caniff imitator in the most recent issue of Alter Ego.
