Wie man die letzten Tage evntl. gelesen hat, überlege ich schon eine Weile, ob ich mich nicht privat wieder mehr "kreativ" rumfuzzeln möchte - gescheitert isses meist daran das es keine Basis gab worauf ich das kreative mit meinem aktuellen Skillset anwenden soll.
Mit dem aktiven #DiDay @aalen ließe sich aogar was machen, da dass Re:Design eig. schon vor der #FAT26 in meinem Kanban rumrennt....
Angelehnt vom @schenklradio, was soweit ich weiß gefühlt alles über #OpenSource macht, wäre meine Idee, dass ich die Vorarbeiten/Präsi vorbereitung etc. u.a. auf meinem Twitch-Channel mache unter meiner eig. #Linux Workspace.

Neben Twitch würde ich noch n Re:Cast auf ne #OSS Alternative ziehen, wollen die Auswahl is hier derzeit mau.
Nebenbei muss ich mir noch ne no-face Lösung überlegen (normale Mundschutz-Maske o.ä.) und schauen, ob meine aktuellen 4GB RAM das handlen können.

I've been quite supportive to Red Hat many years. I use their free developer license, as that was supposed to be the new way as a CentOS replacement.
Now I've found a bug I want to report. I don't need or want support, I just want them to beware of the issue. But I'm not capable of understanding where and how to report that. Created an Atlassian account - but to no avail - I was not granted access to anything.
Seriously, @redhat ... this is not good enough! Far from it! Now you basically makes me want to move towards @almalinux or @rockylinux. Which I believe is exactly what you wanted to avoid when you shut down #CentOS.
And I've noticed that more and more KB articles are now restricted, even after logging in with my developer account.
Your credibility in regards to be supportive to the community is being torn apart now. The free Red Hat Developer subscription feels more and more like a sales/marketing channel nowadays.
I am capable of doing self-support. I've worked for you earlier, I've debugged RHEL issues for you many years. And I want to contribute back as token of appreciation for what you've done so far. Now you make it more and more difficult to help out. Then I rather switch to an EL community which is more forthcoming.
PS! I do not need any suggestions to try other distros. I like and prefer the Fedora/RHEL universe. That's what I've been using primarily for closer to 15+ years; I solve issues quickly here. So Alma/Rocky is where I'm going next. Yes, I know a ton of other distributions and do not need to be educated in why other distros are better. They are not necessarily better for me.
Development of my personal FreeBSD installer keeps moving forward!
Lots of new ideas and features are currently in the works: the out-of-the-box GUI experience, completion of the Simple and Expert installation modes, automatic hardware detection and configuration (now also GPU support as well).

Screenshot of my new FreeBSD installer. The first setup screen lets users choose between Auto, Simple, and Expert installation modes through a keyboard-friendly text interface. Simple mode is currently selected.
"Proprietary" means having owner(s). If the maintainers are the only ones allowed to introduce changes, they are establishing an ownership relationship over the codebase. I.e., it's a proprietary project, and that is the sense in which it's closed.
This is the destiny of most projects that go AI, in my opinion.

I typed in alsamixer -c2because one of my audio interfaces suddenly had only output on one of the two channels.
As a rule, in Linux and any other Open Source OS, you don't reboot like a moronic end user, to fix a problem:
- troubleshoot the problem
- Isolate the problem
- when hardware relation is established
- check which kernel module needs to be flused
rmmod mod_nameinsmod mod_name- read the man-page for the kernel_mod
I executed the above steps (stepping over the kernel mod slush) and came in the alsamixer to see that there finally is a massive update to the alsamixer for this interface
What I needed to do is pull one fader up in the mixer and get the audio balance again. As a bonus I can now balance the output of the device in alsamixer, instead of on the rack-mount instrument mixer in my effects rack.

I don't understand why so few people are using Linux. It's so amazing! For example for just 740 MB of your hard disk space, you can have the astronomical program Stellarium, which displays a blank screen and doesn't react to clicking anywhere.

Reputation is one of the most valuable things any social project has. It can inspire people to do great things together.
Money is, *waves hand*, helpful; but just a thing. It's not valuable in itself, only in what things it can be transacted to get people to do for you.
If you trade inspiration for transactional power, then you no longer need to lead people, just money.
And money just isn't as valuable as people.

Today in Labor History April 13, 1953: CIA Director Allen Dulles launched the MKUltra mind control program. The program ran from 1953 to 1973. It involved giving human subjects LSD and other drugs, often without their knowledge. Then, researchers would try to “weaken” their minds and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture. Over 7,000 U.S. war veterans were unwitting test subjects, as well as many Canadian and U.S. civilians. The program was a continuation of Nazi mind-control experiments, which utilized mescaline against Jews and Soviet prisoners, hoping it could be exploited as a “truth” serum. The Office of Strategic Services (OSS), precursor of the CIA, recruited many of these Nazi torturers in the wake of World War II to exploit their knowledge and research. MKUltra was headed by Dr. Sidney Gottlieb, who later devised plans to kill Fidel Castro with an exploding cigar, and saturating his shoes with radioactive thallium to make his beard fall out. He also tried to assassinate Patrice Lumumba, Prime Minister of Congo, with poison. Several well-known liberals and radicals knowingly participated in MKUltra and its OSS predecessors, either as test subjects (e.g., Ken Kesey, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Hunter), or as researchers (e.g., anthropologists Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson). Others who have been alleged to have been victims or volunteers include Sirhan Sirhan, Ted Kaczyinski, Charles Manson, and Whitey Bulger.
For a really fascinating look at Margaret Mead's and Gregory Bateson’s exploration with hallucinogens and their connection to federal spy agencies, check out the recent book, Tripping on Utopia, by Benjamin Breen. And for a truly amazing documentary on the 1961 CIA-supported coup in Congo, check out the 2024 documentary, “Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat.” But the film is really about so much more than the coup. It covers Cold War machinations, propaganda, and covert operations in the early 1960s; the superpowers’ jockeying for control of puppet regimes and spheres of influence in the global south; the Pan-African movement; racism in the U.S., the Civil Rights movement, and the repression against it; and, of course, jazz music, including tons of interviews and live footage of Lumumba, Ghanian president and revolutionary Kwame Nkrumah, activist and writer Andree Madeleine Blouin, Malcolm X, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Miriam Makeba, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, surrealist artist Rene Magritte.

What appears as critique – yearning for smaller, weirder, more human spaces – often functions as brand repair. Netstalgia becomes a strategy: it restores trust without redistributing power, softens anger without changing infrastructures and reframes structural problems as matters of vibe, design or community feeling."Am I working on change, or am I working on brand repair?" is an important question to ask oneself regularly, it seems to me. It's especially relevant for the tech sector, open source, and computer science.

"Politics" isn't only about institutions. It's about organizing large numbers of people to do something they wouldn't otherwise do. Corporations organize large numbers of people to do things they probably wouldn't do if they weren't paid and/or didn't need the money to live. 10,000 people wouldn't spontaneously get together and spend the best hours of their days for months building a commercial jet airliner if there weren't corporate structures in place and a society that keeps them close enough to deprivation that they will do this in exchange for money.
