Live Laugh Love Card (Fairy Tale Challenge #162)

Hi everyone and happy Valentine's Day! :o)

It's time for a new challenge at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog

Our theme for this fortnight is #162, Sketch.

This time our lucky winner will win this pair of die-cuts. Cute!!! :o)

The sketch our Bianca designed for the challenge is so pretty and I'm sure I'll use it again. :o)

For my first take on the sketch, I went with rectangle shaped card base, made some minor changes on the layout and made a card as simple as possible. It's this monochrome, Live Laugh Love Card. :o)

To create this card I use patterned papers from Teresa Collins 'Something Wonderful' Paper Pad. I cut striped patterned paper rectangles and glued them directly on a top folded white card base. Then I cut "sentiment rectangle", glued it on a white cardstock rectangle, glued 2 mm thick foam sheet on the back of it and glued it in center of the card.

As a finishing touch, I colored tiny hearts (originally only outlines) in white using white gel pen, embellished the card with white enamel dots and my card was finished. :o)

Super easy and fast to create. It took me less than 30 minutes. :o)

Card dimensions: 95 mm x 127 m(3 3/4" x 5")

Peace and Joy Circle Cards (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

My second post today... If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

Today was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made these Peace and Joy Circle Cards.

To make these cards, I used GORGEOUS Jane's Doodles 'Christmas Blessings' stamp set.

First I made a card with stripped patterned paper. I liked it so much I made another one using tree bark (woodgrain impression) pattern paper. These papers are form Teresa Collins 'Something Wonderful' Paper Pad.

How I made my cards...

First I cut circles I needed. Here are the measurements:
  • card base: 3 7/8" x 2
  • circle panel: 3 3/4"

I heat embossed in white a sentiment on the patterned paper circle panel, splattered the panel with a white acrylic paint mixed with water and left it dry.

Then I heat embossed in white two poinsettias on a vellum paper, fussy cut them out and glued on the panel.

I glued two card base circles together to create a card base, glued the panel on the card base and embellished it with couple pearls. As a finishing touch I highlighted some splatters on the panel, drew couple more white dots and my 1st card was finished. :o)

Repeated everything for the 2nd card. :o)

Cards dimensions: d = 98 mm (3 7/8")

Tiger Lily Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #82 Mid Inspiration)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Friday everyone! :o)

Today I'm sharing a mid-inspiration project for an ongoing Aloha Friday Challenge at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #82 - Orange and Black. Feel free to use other colors, just make Orange and Black main colors in your project.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Aurora Wings, whit an amazing prize for one lucky winner.

For this challenge I made this Tiger Lily Card, using our sponsor's gorgeous image 'Tiger Lily Sprite' Digital Stamp.

How I made my card...

I printed the image on a watercolor paper. I left it dry through the night. When I print digital images I always leave them dry at least half an hour, to prevent ink smearing. I tried different mediums on printed images in the past and they all smear black printer ink, if not dried well. You can find more helpful tips on how to use digital images in one of my old posts, here.

Next day I colored the image. I colored sprite's skin and sepals with colored pencils. I used paper stump to blend colors in paper. Then I colored petals and stamens in watercolor technique using Distress Inks, water and fine rounded paint brush.

When I was finished with coloring I fussy cut the image and colored the edges with black marker.

And then my troubles started... I couldn't decide what to do with the image. Background, no background, clean or busy, splatters, sentiment, no sentiment... I liked it all, but there was so little black and it didn't meet the challenge, at leas tin my eyes. Well, now I have some great layouts and ideas I will definitely use very soon, with this or some other image. Lastly I went with black and white busy patterned paper. To do so, I was inspired with gorgeous card by Marika Gewalli of Craftybit Creations. :o)

I glued the image on the patterned paper, glued it on a white top folded square card base and my card was finished. :o)
