Biografia:
A biografia do músico, que segue, em tradução livre do inglês, foi extraída do site Oldies, que, por sua vez, cita, como fonte primária do texto, a Encyclopedia Of Popular Music, de Colin Larkin (sob licença da editora Muze).
Músico autodidata, Tom Fogerty, nascido em 9 de novembro de 1941, em Berkeley, California, EUA, e morto em 6 de setembro de 1990, em Scottsdale, Arizona, EUA, viu sua carreira florescer após ingressar na banda de rock-and-roll fundada por John Fogerty, seu irmão mais moço. Depois de gravar, em 1963, "Bonita", seu solitário single, a Tom Fogerty And The Blue Velvets conseguiu ser contratada pela Fantasy Records, mas foi convencida a mudar seu nome para Golliwogs, buscando pegar carona no boom beat britânico concorrente. O grupo manteve a abominável denominação até 1967, quando se transformou em Credence Clearwater Revival. E, assim designada, tornou-se uma das bandas mais bem-sucedidas da época. Porém, com o azedamento da relação entre os irmãos, Tom deixou a banda em fevereiro de 1971 rumo à carreira solo.
E, na sua empreitada individual, contou, no início, com a ajuda de Jerry Garcia e Merl Saunders. Gravou quatro discos em sequência, que, embora incoesos, continham faixas excelentes. Depois decidiu formar a banda Ruby, reunindo em torno de si Randy Oda (guitarra e teclados), Anthony Davis (baixo) e Bobby Cochran (bateria). A Ruby gravou três álbuns, sendo que o último, "Precious Gems", foi precedido pelo derradeiro disco solo de Tom, "Deal It Out". Tom trabalhou no mercado imobiliário até mudar-se para Flagstaff, no Arizona, na metade dos anos 80, aparentemente planejando escrever uma biografia da CCR. Entretanto, acabou morrendo de insuficiência respiratória decorrente de uma tuberculose, em 1990.
