Well, how long has it been since you've seen an antenna topper? Lol... and this is a Jack In The Box type, and they used to be headquartered here in San Diego, only a mile from where I photographed this
I haven't seen any antenna toppers in a long time. But then, there simply aren't many vehicles with real antennas any more.
In the summer of 1962, a 65 year old woman got lucky, winning this 1962 Dodge Polara 500 in a Coca-Cola bottlers' sweepstakes. Then she drove it sparingly, only 9600 miles in 2 decades. It's got a pushbutton 3spd, a 361, and 323 gears
It's currently only bid to 15,500, and the auction ends in 2 days
A 72 Dodge Sportsman van that Kurt Cobain used to drive, and draw on, was auctioned off in 2012 for $24,700. The next auction is set for May 30 in New York, after it is displayed today outside a pair of Seattle record stores.. but it's getting chopped into parts, and not sold intact as a driver
The vomit-green and white van also features the carved-in signatures of Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and Cobain, which he carved into the van, after using stolen Sharpie markers to draw a mural of New York rockers Kiss on one of the vehicle’s exterior panels.
The “Melvan” will be disassembled, and Julien’s Music Icons will auction off the van’s various parts.
Rollingstone's article on the van's first auction is still online
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/a-look-inside-the-kurt-cobain-decorated-melvins-van-15603/ a bass player from some group no one ever heard of bought it in 1992, sold it in 2012It was a weird day, and I came across TWO Truly Nolen cars which weren't even at Nolen businesses, or even out advertising!
How did that gap at the top of the door get past quality inspection? Damn, I almost fit a finger in there!
the BNSF Railway bridge on the Spring River, at Mammoth Springs, that was washed out from under the empty coal train cars last week, was rebuilt in under a week! How in the hell the BNSF crew pulled that off? No clue, but damn, lets hear a round of applause for that crew! Amazing!
The reverse of the typical before and after, but, the before photo doesn't do a good job of showing what they did, comparatively, so I'm leading with the after image
Earlier in the week, BNSF predicted it would have the bridge replaced and the line back open by Friday morning. However, after herculean efforts to remove wrecked railcars from the river, install a new span, and replace the track, the project was completed almost 24 hours ahead of estimates.
This week, crews worked day and night, using large machinery to clean up the mess and reopen the line. On Thursday, BNSF issued an advisory to rail customers, letting them know the line was back open at 7:05 a.m. and route was back open.
I'm wondering, has anyone ever made a list of all the cars that Ford/Mercury made with the GT trim line?
Comet GT
Cougar GT-E
Fairlane GT
Mustang GT
Cyclone GT
Montego GT
Torino GT
Ranchero GT
GT 40
are there more in the 1964-74 FoMoCo vehicles?

Harbor Freight sold a floor jack for $290 Daytona that was identical to the $945 Snap-on floor jack, it's even made in the same plant in China
All it takes is a glance to tell that these two floor jacks are visibly similar. The chassis are comparable in shape, as are the saddles, wheels, and handles. Even many of the fasteners that are holding it together appear to have nearly identical placement.
They're also quite similar in terms of dimensions, and both utilize a hydraulic pump oiling system with internal magnetic filtration that is designed to extend the life of the tool. They're functionally similar as well. The Snap-on starts with a 3 13/16-inch minimum height and goes to a 23 ⅜-inch maximum, while the Daytona has a 3 ¾-inch minimum and a 23 ⅛-inch maximum, so each metric is only off by the barest fraction of an inch.
BizTimes went on to say that Harbor Freight also claimed Snap-on's jacks were even made in the same factory as the Daytona models. Snap-on reportedly admitted that many of the parts found in the jack were made in China, but denied all the other allegations.
ever heard of the 1979 Ford Mustang Daytona Concept? Me neither. It's also nuts to realize it's a 46 year old car.
one of just five such models built for Ford by Cars and Concepts, and believed to be the only example of that lot that received all of the planned updates, and is also thought to be the only one in running and driving condition.
On the outside, those mods include a T-top conversion, a one-piece smoked grille panel with an etched pony log, 1979 Lincoln Versailles headlights, a smoked plastic rear panel, and Dayton wire wheels.
It served as the pace car for 1979 Daytona road course events, and it was on display at the Henry Ford Museum for 20 years
Imagine if it was 1980, and we were talking about a 46 year old concept car, that would be a 1934 car!
GT 51, just listen to how every part of it was customized. Damn, that's really fine craftsmanship, by Craig Wick of Wicked Fabrication!

it makes a govt employee look especially bad, and corrupt, when they get audited and that turns up 30,000 dollars in meals with the corporations they are supposed to be regulating, and 11 taxpayer-funded excursions to places like Bogota, Paris, and Toronto.
Just weeks after ABC7 revealed California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara's extensive travel during his time in office, ABC7's media partner The San Francisco Standard has released their own investigation into the commissioner's spending on expensive restaurants - to the tune of nearly $30,000.
Critics' complaints about the lavish meals are multifaceted: Commissioner Lara shared some of these meals with insurance industry bigwigs, who represent the very companies the Department of Insurance is meant to regulate - and at a time when insurance companies are canceling coverage and ceasing new business in the state.

the commissioner took at least 46 cross-country and international trips, including at least 11 taxpayer-funded excursions to places like Bogota, Paris, and Toronto. But after more than a month of questioning his office, Lara's staff has been unable to identify the business purpose for nearly all of them.
