the most fun car photo write up I've seen in a long time: Our Lady of Perpetual Downforce

O Most Divine Lady of Gurney Flaps, assist us in the need for more grip to our tires. Though our speeds be low and heft be great, we know only that we must affix elements of grand scale and hope for you to intercede on our behalf. We beseech you in our quest for a mere section of Thy Holiest Cessna and require that its Mighty Ailerons move with Ye Middle Pedal’s travels to greater arrest our low speeds. Pray for us that our Emaculant Rudder be not only superficial, but also of true might and righteousness for steering our way through the oppressing darkness of LeMons. Amen.

24-Hour NaZCAR Lemons Enduro proves that 101 cars on the grid and as many as 500 drivers on site, there a very real demand for a full and continuous 24 hour race a year (thank you Mark D!)

Although nominally ‘won’ by the BMW E36 coupe of the appropriately-named Get-In-Behind team (of Tony Rutz, Colin Letcher, Glen Collinson, Matthew Booth & Garry Denham) which covered 554 laps, two more than the SsangYong Actyon ute of Ghost Dog Racing (Deon and Rick Cooper Snr & Jnr) and 11 more than the BMW Bandits squad (Peter Bennett, Kayne Barrie, Brett Matthew, Warren Glassford & Nigel Patterson) which ended up third, Dr Simonsen stressed at the prize giving function held immediately after the race that “everyone gathered here this afternoon is a winner in my eyes.”

As such only two of the event’s coveted Grand Awards (one for Limes [defined as cars value at between $1000 and $2000 at time of purchase] which went to the first car home, the BMW E36 3-Series coupe of Team Get-In-Behind’s Tony Rutz, Colin Letcher, Glen Collinson, Matthew Booth & Garry Denham, the other for Lemons, in this case to the giant-killing Mazda 3 of Team Assassin Racing’s Mal Chamberlain, David & Nathan Cox, and Craig Howser, the first of the Lemons cars home in 6th place having completed 527 laps) went to ‘winning teams.’

“Seriously though,” Dr Simonsen continued, “while the spectacle of racing was one thing, the spectacle of the costumes and themes was quite another – from Ninjas to cowboys, muppets to roadworkers… and everything in between!

NaZCAR Lemons started life as the endurance series called "24 Hours of Lemons" in 2016 and has become NZ's most beloved and successful endurance motorsport series. Lemons is low-budget motorsport at its best

Will Dawber took part with his team - six drivers and a few extras as pit crew - driving a Nissan 350Z (with auto trans) convertible as one of his friends has a wrecking yard and the Z had come in from Japan as a damaged car so was never going to be able to be made roadworthy.

The initial cost of the car was low but there were many hours of preparation needed. They finished mid field but were lucky enough to be awarded the 'Supreme Award', perhaps that involved the 'spirit of the event'/shenanigans/and buying gifts for the judges and organizers.

Coffee and donuts video of the morning: Trippy Tippy Hippy Van, the coolest Le Mons vehicle I've seen so far

it's a 1988 Volkswagen Rabbit chassis with a 1.8-liter 16-valve GTI engine with Bus body panels attached sideways. Bloch wanted to build a sideways race car, and this 1975 VW campervan, with its box-like shape, was the perfect vehicle to do it.

wow, a 52 Aero Lark beat five BMWs, two Nissan 300ZXs, a Mustang, a Camaro, and a pair of Mazda RX-7s at LeMons. The "Four Yak Press Racing" 1952 Willys made its grand entrance to the LeMons scene at the California season-ender.

The team, members of which hail from Hella Shitty Racing (who race a Bricklin SV-1, a diesel-engined Porsche 911, and a dual-control Volkswagen Beetle, among other things) and Cerveza Racing (the winningest team in 24 Hours of LeMons history), picked up a long-neglected project Aero-Lark for dirt cheap and got to work.

When the race ended, the Aero-Lark had completed 132 laps around one of the most challenging courses in the LeMons world. The team finished 160th out of 183 entries

Some of the greatest/ most fun cars that have competed at the 24 Hours of LeMons

I think the monocle look is a hilarious addition... it so nails the English vibe of the Rolls Royce type

this Mercedes received a Mopar 440 engine

Ranchero skin over a BMW

this is a pretty good recreation of the Griswold's Wagon Queen Family Truckster

the Faster Farms Belvedere is one of the true survivors of LeMons, still bearing a topography of dents from the very crash-y early days of LeMons where the car and team were the initial (and to date only) recipients of a LeMons Lifetime (Under)achievement Award.
