The data professions (data science, analysis, engineering, etc.) are highly technical fields, and much online discussion (in particular, on this blog!), conference presentations and classes focus on technical aspects of data work or on the results of data analyses. These discussions are necessary for teaching important aspects of the data trade, but they often ignore the fact that data and analytics work takes place in an interpersonal and organizational context.

Loved reading through GReg TeChnoLogY Anthony Bourdain’s Lost Li.st’s and seeing the list of lost Anthony Bourdain li.st’s made me think on whether at least some of them we can recover.
Darnell nodded, glancing over Robby like he was trying to place him in the hierarchy of important to ignorable and it could go either way. “What’s this?”
“MSF FNG,” Jack shot back. Whatever that meant, he sounded amused.
Darnell scoffed and looked to Robby, expression going decidedly unimpressed. “Oh, yeah? You here to find yourself? Have an adventure? Do something hard?” he asked, each question more mocking than the last.
And there was that question again, like it was haunting Robby. He stifled his instinct to bite back and kept it simple: “I’m here to help.”
