The Dark Side of Christmas
Are most Christmas songs a little too upbeat for you? Try this playlist of 5 (Plus one bonus) creepy Christmas songs to bring the Halloween spirit back for the holidays.
MYUU has quite the following on YouTube and has made a few Creepmas songs so let us kick off this year Creepmas Music Monday with "Krampus Is Here (Dark Christmas Song)".
To turn Christmas into Halloween in 30 seconds flat, try listening to some of the classics recreated in a minor key for a little extra terror. Suddenly, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” will take on a whole new meaning.
Creepmas would not be complete without Midnight Syndicate included on their “Christmas: A Ghostly Gathering” CD is another fine tribute to Krampus. The entire album is a spooky slay ride of instrumental holiday horror.
This comes from the H.P. Lovecraft society, they have a whole Christmas album here! I think the video Oh Cthulhu is a fan-made video, but man what a great rendition. H.P. Lovecraft Society unleashed a tentacle full of holiday horror over the years. Three madness-inducing Lovecraft inspired selections are available to haunt your holidays.
Tossing in another MYUU "Snow Wonders (Dark Christmas Song)" He also offers this one up as a free download all you have to do is click here
Sure hope you found a few new creepy delights for those creepy cold nights. In the meantime hop on over to the Creepmas site and check in on the other bloggers.

That Old Black Magic
That Old Black Magic - Judy Garland
"That Old Black Magic" is a 1942 popular song written by Harold Arlen, with the lyrics by Johnny Mercer. They wrote it for the 1942 film Star Spangled Rhythm when it was sung by Johnny Johnston and danced by Vera Zorina. The song was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1943 but lost out to "You'll Never Know".
The song was published in 1942 and has become an often-recorded standard, with versions that include the original single release by Glenn Miller, by the singers Margaret Whiting, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Mercer himself, and others. Mercer wrote the lyrics with Judy Garland in mind, who was, on occasion, an intimate partner.
Garland recorded the song for Decca Records in 1942. Mercer recalled wanting to write a song about magic, and while composing, asking Arlen to write more music so the song could go on longer, but that they still wrote the whole song in about three hours.
Who did it better? Let me know in the comments below. Also do not forget all the other black magic happing over at The Countdown To Halloween.

July 13, 1939, Sinatra becomes a Heartthrob
Women swooned. Just a few years after he made his recording debut with the Harry James band on July 13, 1939, Frank Sinatra became a teenage heartthrob. Sinatra was more than just an overnight sensation. Unlike other pop artists, Sinatra's career didn't end after five or ten years but lasted more than half a century.
July 14, 1985
"Singin' in the Rain" opens at Gershwin Theater NYC for 367 performances
July 15, 1960, The Dance Craze!
When American rock artist Chubby Checker released his catchy pop song The Twist in 1960, few could have imagined that it would be responsible for a dance craze that would sweep the Western world in the early 1960s.
The dance itself had existed in its modern form since at least the late 1950s. Checker released his single in 1960 and it eventually claimed the top spot on September 19, 1960.
July 16, 1782

Music Monday for April 27th
It's my favorite day of the week Music Monday! Time to uplift the darkness in our souls right now. So turn it up its time to look into music history for April 27th.
George Harrison began writing "Love Comes to Everyone" in September 1977 and finished it in Hawaii in February 1978 and released on this day in 1979. Eric Clapton plays lead guitar during the intro to the track. The other musicians on the recording are Steve Winwood, Neil Larsen, Willie Weeks, Andy Newmark, and Ray Cooper.
Tweens everywhere popped around to Ariana Grande's Problem featuring Iggy Azalea. I know this song was a hit in this house, and hey I still like it. "Problem" would debut at number 3 on Billboards top 100 but would only peak at number 2. I can not believe this was 2014 it really feels like yesterday.
Sheena Easton was born on this day in 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland. After earning a Grammy as Best New Artist, Easton was tapped to sing the title theme of the latest James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only. In 1983, she duetted with Kenny Rogers on the smash "We've Got Tonight," Easton would tape into her first love the past few years staring in the musical revival of Man of La Mancha. She would spend much of the decade on stage, also appearing in a revival of Grease as well as on the seasonal tour The Colors of Christmas.
Bonus Track:
Ringo Starr met actress Barbara Bach in 1980 on the set of the film Caveman, and they were married on 27 April 1988.
And there you kids that's today in music! Love and Peace friends.
Music Monday
Hi, all sure hope you had a nice Easter weekend. Let us take a look at what happened in music on April 13th.
Ah musicals, you know they are a big thing in this house so why not start with the Musical "Grease" closing at Broadhurst Theater NYC after 3,388 performances in 1980. I could not find any video's from that far back sorry. Grease was first performed in 1971 in the original Kingston Mines nightclub in Chicago (since demolished). From there, it has been successful on both stage and screen, but the content has been diluted and its teenage characters have become less Chicago habitués and more generic. At the time that it closed in 1980, Grease's 3,388-performance run was the longest yet in Broadway history, although it was surpassed by A Chorus Line on September 29, 1983. It went on to become a West End hit, a successful feature film, two popular Broadway revivals in 1994 and 2007, and a staple of regional theatre, community theatre, and high school and middle school drama groups. It remains Broadway's 16th longest-running show.

Famous Illinionin Howard Keel was born in 1917 in Gillespie, Il in Southern Illinois. Keel was the Errol Flynn of the "golden age" of movie musicals back in the 1950s. His body of work includes "Camelot," "South Pacific", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Man of La Mancha", and "Show Boat". But most of us know him best when he replaced Jim Davis as the upstanding family patriarch of the nighttime soap drama Dallas (1978) after Davis' untimely death. Keel passed away at the age of 85 in 2004.
And on this day in 2013 Chi Cheng, the bassist for the Deftones died at the age of 42. Cheng had been involved in a car accident in 2008, which left him in a coma for some time. Although he eventually began showing signs of improvement, he was never able to make a full recovery. Cheng’s bass playing can be heard on such early Deftones classics as 1995’s Adrenaline, 1997’s Around the Fur, and 2000’s White Pony. Additionally, Cheng issued a spoken word release in 2000, The Bamboo Parachute.
Well, that's it pretty slow day in music. A ton of music news for next week so stay tuned!
Peace
What was your 12th Birthday Song?
Ok, so social media seems to be all anybody has right now so even I have jumped on from time to time. One of my favorite questions out there was what was the number one song on your 12th birthday. So here you go this would be our family playlist for our 12th birthdays.
When I first looked this up I came up with I love Rock and Roll and thought how cool. Sadly I was doing something wrong but I'm not sad by this one...
Well, my wife missed Billie Jean by a week and is stuck with this 80s one-hit-wonder. So lovingly I looked in her eyes and told her "she's dirty" no really I did I still have the slap mark to prove it.
My poor child when she turned 12 she was dancing around to Sia and her Cheap Thrills! Ella is all about music so she was a little bummed that this had to be her song. (as she is belting out "Best of Both Worlds" by Hanna Montana from her bedroom)
Annnnnd this odd song has been number one for the past 7 weeks just getting dethroned by Blinding Lights by the Weekend. I just asked my 12-year-old if she has ever heard it and she said kind of buy gross.

Wash Your Hands Music Monday?
Let's have fun this week, shall we?
Please stay safe and Please Please Please stay home! And when you go out for those groceries to make sure to thank all those working. The stress and anxiety they feel is over whelming. So just take a moment to say Thank You they really need it.
In The Mood
Oh yes, it's going to be a fun-filled Today In Music! First up a song I can still listen to today, honestly would have loved to have grown up in the Big Band Era. On February 10,1940 Glenn Millers "In the Mood" tops the charts and stayed there for 13 weeks. Glenn Miller's "In The Mood", with "I Want to Be Happy" on the B-side, became the best-selling swing instrumental.
1942 Glenn Miller was awarded his 1st ever gold record for selling 1 million copies of "Chattanooga Choo Choo".
In 1968 Classic IV hits #3 on the pop charts with Spooky.
"Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" by Rod Stewart slides its way into the top spot on this day in 1979! Something tells me I'm the only one that does not think Rod Stewart is sexy!
In 2001 Singer-comedian Weird Al Yankovic weds Suzanne Krajewski
So there you go, gang, Happy Monday to you all!!
The Day The Music Died
Who wheres Short Shorts?
In 1958 a catchy little tune by "Short Shorts" enters the top 40 Chart and would peak at #3. Now tell me this song does not bring a smile to your face?
The Day The Music Died
My mom always talked about how the trio had been scheduled to play at Spring Valley’s Les-Buzz Ballroom as part of the “Winter Dance Party” on Feb. 7, 1959. Sadly they never made it, as four days earlier, an airplane carrying the three men crashed shortly after take-off in Clear Lake, Iowa, killing all three. This would become one of the saddest days in music history. My mom once told me she sat in her room crying for days even missing school. I still have a few of her Buddy Holly 45's.
My personal favorite Ritchie Valens song, such great music taken from us way to early. I would have loved to have grown up during this era of music and I'm grateful that my parents always had records playing when we were growing up. The sweet sounds of the 50s and 60s filled our house and it was pure magic.
Touring the site.
My favorite YouTuber Adam The Woo has a nice video where he visits the sites and museums surrounding the events that took place.
Today In Music
1982
Ah yes, the famous Ozzy Osbourne concert in Des Moines, Iowa, when a member of the audience threw a bat onto the stage. Stunned by the light, the bat lay motionless, and thinking it was a rubber fake, the singer picked it up and attempted to bite its head off. As he did this, the bat started to flap its wings and Ozzy soon realized it wasn't fake but in fact a living thing. After the show, Ozzy was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for rabies shots. And here we are in 2020 and the immortal Osbourne has released a new song featuring Sir Elton John1983
Def Leppard released their third studio album 'Pyromania' which featured new guitarist Phil Collen and was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The album has now sold over 10 million copies in the US and is hailed one of the greatest, well ok at least by me anyway.
2017
Sir Paul McCartney was suing Sony over control of The Beatles' back catalog. McCartney had gone to a US court, seeking to regain the publishing rights to 267 of the band's classic songs. He had been trying to get them back since the 1980s when Michael Jackson famously out-bid him for the rights. Jackson's debt-ridden estate sold the songs to Sony in 2016.
And that my friends is your music history for January 20,2020!
You're so Vain!
On January 6th, 1973 Carly Simon's 'You're So Vain', (with Mick Jagger on backing vocals), started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart. In 2015, after keeping quiet for more than 40 years, Carly Simon admitted that 'You're So Vain' was about Warren Beatty, but only one verse of it. Simon said the other verses were about two other men.
But I remember the Faster Pussycat version as the B side of a 45 and how much I liked it.
Here is Susan Hoff with Mathew Sweet from 2009.
In 1973 The Odd Couples Tony Randall & Jack Klugman singing You're So Vain. The song appeared on Side-1 of a 1973 novelty LP released by the London Records Label titled The Odd Couple Sings.
So what's your favorite version?
