Synopsis:
All looks lost for the Rebellion against the Empire as they learn of the existence of a new superweapon, the Death Star. Once a possible weakness in its construction is uncovered, the Rebel Alliance must set out on a desperate mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. The future of the entire galaxy now rests upon its success.
Hot off the heels of Godzilla (2014) Gareth Edwards is handed the keys to a prequel that we all needed in our lives (sorry Jar Jar). With an array of new charters filling in a back story to New Hope he is allowed to weave a strong story and flashy effects making Rogue One a very entertaining Star Wars Saga. Felicity Jones knows how to own the screen going from bad girl to hero right before your eyes in the way that Luke should have! Let's face it New Hope will be the weak link in the series at some point.
At first, I was not comfortable with a CGI Peter Cushing, it was creepy yet once the story rolled on you settle in. Industrial Light and Magic really pulled this off nicely. ILM went through hours of old footage from Cushing in order to get all of his facial mannerisms right. Guy Henry then performed the role on set, while wearing head-mounted cameras that recorded all his facial movements. ILM then replaced his face with a digital mask of Cushing. As luck would have it, a face cast of Cushing made for Top Secret! (1984) had recently been found in an archive, and was of great use in this process. It is also cool to note found footage from New Hope resurfaced and the originally deleted footage from the Death Star attack shot was placed into the final battle in Rogue One.
Once again we are witnesses to intense aerial dogfights, armored combat vehicles, sweet looking tanks, flame-throwers, and new stormtroopers that never cease to amaze. And those Stormtroopers are truly something to gawk at. And nothing is better or more terrifying that Darth Vader slowing filling the screen! Look the movie's visuals are amazing. It may be a typical plotline the first act is a slow burn leaving with that meh feeling but I promise you the second act draws together fine for the third act leading into the big battle that will leave you in awe!
Rouge One was how I felt as a young boy watching A New Hope for the first time leaving me giddy with excitement! Leading right up to the moment of Hope this story will not disappoint, the visuals will blow you away and the battle leaves you wanting more. One downfall and to myself a big one almost tearing me out of the movie in a hurry was the CGI use of a main charter in the end. I get it it was done to tie the movies together but ugh! Those brief moments almost ruined the whole thing for me.

Synopsis:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. The series depicts a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
I love that Disney+ release's new episodes on a weekly bases as I'm not a binge-watcher, I feel it takes a bit away from you digesting what you just witnessed. Yet I found myself watching four episodes of Mandalorian right off the bat. At first, the show starts like most Star War's anything slow and pointless. Pacing has always been an issue with me when it comes to the Galaxy Far Far Away. You always get a ton of walking around talking and a small smidge of action.
But it was that Third episode "The Sin" that left you at the edge of your seat in a way Lucus never could. I was left feeling very anxious and drained needing to jump into the next episode immediately. And those next few episodes gave us a nice blend of emotions new charters and locations that are all breathtaking. Pedro Pascal delivers a nice performance time and time again with such a range of emotions from behind a helmet. I'm going to say it his emotions come through just like Michael Myers or Jason Voreshes.
As the pace tails off once again it is not until episode six "The Prisoner" that you are once again left holding your breath. In fact, this was the strongest episode for me as you are lovingly teased with new slimy charters that really help paint the picture of a Bounty Hunters life going from dirty job to dirty job working for the scum of the universe getting paid very little.
By the end your left wanting more and your beside yourself knowing you have to wait almost a full year to get more! With wonderful visuals, a great cast, and so many throwbacks sprinkled about most die-hard fans will deep dive into the series many times as they wait for season two. If the Mandalorian is a small taste of what's to come on Disney+ then I can not wait for the Marvel Universe to hit the small screen as well!
I mean come on they tossed more than one reference to the god awful Holiday Speical!
If you are a Star Wars fan then you have already watched for someone looking for something different and does not care about the Star Wars timeline then dig in you just might be surprised.

So let's start the new year off with a bang shall we? For starters, I will not go off on a rant on what was wrong with Star Wars and how I only liked it and did not love it! The movie looks great one of the best-looking films I have seen in age's. The story tho was pretty weak and full of J.J. Abrams fast pace baloney but I'm not going to go there I promise. Rather talk about the experience in a whole.
H is for a true Hero!
He was everything that as a 7 year old boy I wanted to be! Really who didn't? I remeber that Halloween mom made customes for the 3 of us. My sister was princess Lea my brother was R2-D2 and me well *gasp* I was stuck being Luke Skywalker. Why, Mom why? Was I a whiny kid like he was? I just want to be cool dang it!
That did not stop my that year I still had those blue pants with the red stripe up the seem. The white button up shirt and a black vest. For that moment in time I was cool I had swagger and I had the edge. Well I thought so anyway. Thanks Han Solo for teaching me how to be cool.

Wizard World Chicago Comic Con
Last weekend we slipped away to see a buddy across the street from Flashback Weekend. Steve was attending Chicago's Comic Con. Hell I see no reason to pay $50 buck's to go in when you can see the crazy show that is Comic Con standing in the lobby.Everybody was hanging out having a good time. No body seemed to care that we where dressed in black and had zombie wrist bands on. So here are a few photos and a quick video for your enjoyment.
Star Wars Weekend is Sexy and they know it!
This year was pretty crazy. Good vs Evil. Emperor Palpatine rocking out to Mamma Said Knock You Out. Darth Vader with Boba Fett doing the Smooth Criminal and the best one has to be Chewbacca with Mother daughter duo Princess Leia and her young Padme. They get down to I'm Sexy and I know it.
If you get caught spying by Darth Vader this year he will sentence you to eternal imprisonment in carbonite for a cool $99.00 of course this is Disney after all. This is part of the new "Carbon Freeze Me" experience. In the end you will get a collectible figurine featuring your likeness sculpted into a Han Solo body like the one you see in Empire Strikes Back.
